Show 4 of 18!

GCW’s 24-hour telethon style wrestling marathon show continues into the early morning hours with our first named show of the day! Feel free to ride along with the wrestling reports here and my ongoing levels of non-awakeness on Twitter (@juliusblaise).

Match 1: Matt Vandagriff vs Eli Everfly vs Lucky 13 vs JJ Garret vs Lucas Riley vs Brayden Lee (6-way F*ckfest)

These are always hard to cover! XD Garret and Vandergriff trading offense in the ring while everyone else battles on the outside. Riley with a stiff knee to the mouth and hits a standing shooting star on Garret. Tornado suplex on Vandergriff. Everfly with a stunner to Lee and takes over the ring with his high flying offense. Lucky 13 clears the ring and challenges everyone. He offers a handshake to Vandergriff and kicks his gut, laughing like a cartoon villain. Love it. We get a dive fest to outside. Riley and Vandergriff trading shots and Riley whipped into a giant swing. Hangman’s neckbreaker to Everfly off the top....OW. Vandergriff with a coast to coast dropkick with a senton on the way by. Lee and Lucky going at it, Lee plexed into the corner. 13 whiffs a double stomp into a superkick. 13 wants a moonsault, Everfly bombs 13 off the top onto Lee. Destroyer to Lucky 13. Garret in to pick the bones and hits an Alabama style style cannonball to Lee. Big fight in the ring as Vandergriff sneaks up to the balcony and dives into the ring onto everyone. Brayden with a 630 into Vandergriff and that’s the match!

Winner: Brayden Lee

All energy and crazy innovative spots. A proper opening scramble to shake the early am cobwebs off. Let’s goooooooooo!

Match 2: Nolan Edward vs Wheeler YUTA

Someone clearly booked this bout between two of my favorites to make us happy. Edward makes a charge early to throw YUTA off but we go right into the technical game, trading holds, stretches and quick pin attempts. Edward donks YUTA and goes to work with stomps and uppercuts. Yuta speeds up and posts Edward on a charge, tornado arm breaker from the top. Yuta going to work on the arm and elbow, hitting a german for a near fall. Yuta with an Olympic slam and working that arm again. Edward back with a blue thunder bomb for two. Yuta wraps up an octopus but Edward drags them both to the ropes. Yuta sent to the bar top but he catches Nolan back into that octopus stretch. Edward headbutts out and hits another blue thunder off the top. Lawn dart to the middle turnbuckle and a running headbutt (JEEEEEESUS!) for the pin!

Winner: Nolan Edward

This absolutely lived up to what I wanted from these two, a solid technical outing with Edward’s “no flinch” style giving him the edge in the end. This was great work from both guys. I’ve seen a lot of Edward lately but it’s a TREAT to (knowingly) see Yuta working his craft again. A+ wrestles. Would watch again.

Match 3: The Ugly Duckings (Colby Corino, Rob Killjoy & Lance Lude) vs Young Dumb & Broke (Jordan Oliver, Charlie Tiger & Ellis Taylor)

Taylor wraps up Corino in a gross looking sub to kick it off. He can’t hang here and gets Lude to take over. He doesn’t do well against Charlie Tiger who hits a gut buster, a slam and wrenches at the neck. Lude speeds it up and hits a jawbreaker to get Killjoy into the fray. Oliver gets in and outworks Killjoy to start. Killjoy gets some duck antics in. Great sequences between these two. All three ducks in to triple team Oliver with flips, splashes and sentons. Commentary is talking up how bad this is for Oliver, who needs to defend his Synergy Championship in an Iron Man match in less than 12 hours. Tiger finally in to make the save and work over Killjoy with several pin attempts. Killjoy gets backup and all decorum is lost in a chaotic fight. Triple superkicks. YDNB dumped to the outside and the ducks can flyyyyyyy. Oliver gets isolated and kicks out of a double stomp. YNBD trap all the ducks into submission holds. Lude throws Tiger through everyone to break it all up. Launchpad McQuack almost ends it for YDNB. Corino with a doomsday meteora....right into a clout cutter from Oliver. The rest of YDNB swarms to pop-up Killjoy into a clout cutter for the pin!

Winners: YDNB

This was a little long in the middle but overall a good chaotic main event level trios clash. Oliver better be warmed up for his iron man match now.

Match 4: Ken Broadway vs Charles Mason

Mason taunts the heck out of Broadway to kick this off, kiting him in and out of the ring. Broadway gets him down and hits a moonsault for two. Mason catches Broadway with a slam and spins him out with a huge lariat. These guys are both students of the House of Glory dojo so they know each other quite well. Mason with a standing guillotine and his own eyes are rolling back into his head. Oh myyyyy. Broadway with a suplex escape. Big falcon arrow for two. Mason escapes to the outside, Broadway flys after him with a diving headbutt. Mason gets the knees up on a dive. Running double knees and a rolling DVD for a close two. Broadway comes back for the kill but Mason drops him on his head. Mason gets caught taunting and germaned into the canvas for two. Mason spits on Braodway’s chest. Broadway caught up on the ropes as Mason slides through into a dropkick to the outside. WHAAAAAT. Mason gets that standing guillotine, Broadway slams out of it. Ken Broadway with a PK for the win!

Winner: Ken Broadway

Both of these guys came to play, this was really good. It’s great to see Broadway around the Northeast indies again. This was my first look at Charles Mason but I think I should keep him on my radar going forward. Great chemistry between these two, would love to see this run back.

Main Event: “The Shooterweight” Yoya vs “A Different Boy” Jimmy Lloyd

Yoya replaces Starboy Charlie in this spot. Commentary reacts hard to Lloyd’s retro throwback gear. Lloyd and Yoya feel each other out to start. Yoya is VERY fast and flippy. Lloyd with a huge release german that tosses Yoya across the ring. Yoya hits a series of suplexes on Lloyd. Lloyd gets to stretching his much smaller opponent and kneeing him in the face. Lloyd with a sister Abigail variant as the crowd chants “Yooooooooya”. Yoya tries a roll up but eats a kick for two. Yoya flips out of a powerbomb and hits a double stomp dropkick. Poisonrana! Jimmy powders and Yoya with a pair of suicide dives. Scuffle in the corner and Yoya hits a double stomp to the apron. Yoya grabs some of Ken Broadway’s dollars and makes it rain before failing to make the pin. Tilt-a-whirl codebreaker and another two count. Lloyd pops back with a Michanoku driver, a powerbomb and a uranage for two. Running kick and slaps, Lloyd is punishing this kid. G-Raver’s music hits and he’s here to distract! Yoya with a destroyer and running kick to the chin! Is this it??? Kick out! Yoya misses a sliced bread, Lloyd with a razor’s edge style piledriver for the win.

Winner: Jimmy Lloyd

Props to Yoya for stepping up into this slot. Props to Lloyd for being so giving to someone who is clearly new to the scene. This had a few rough spots but it’s to be expected. I loved how we almost had a distraction finish but Lloyd got to be the Brock in this match and just meat his way through it. Good show.

And that’s it it for “Jimmy Lloyd’s Up All Night”. Edward/Yuta and Mason/Broadway are your much watches here but the show was pretty solid top to bottom. Up next is “NPU: Odium”. This is going to be crazy town. Can’t wait. Until then!
