We kick off GCW’s 24-hour telethon style wrestling marathon show and I’m rested and ready to cover as many of these next EIGHTEEN blocks as humanly possible. Feel free to ride along with the wrestling reports here and my ongoing levels of non-awakeness on Twitter (@juliusblaise). Oh cool. This is the same venue they did Acid Cup 2 in! 

Match 1: “Blackheart” Lio Rush vs “All Heart” Blake Christian (3 Stages of Hell)

This match has happened in various formats in the last year and they have stepped it up every time. Rush’s Blackheart persona kicks this off this madness, trying to finally get a win over Blake Christian. 

Stage 1: Anything Goes

Christian with a shotgun dropkick right out of the entrance and we’re off to the races. Super fast pace works from both guys. Christian introduces a trash can. Blackheart brings in a bag of rocks to spread in the ring. Christian doesn’t want to go into those and manages to send Leo into the physical manifestation of his dead shriveled heart.    Leo catches Christian with a Spanish fly and a frog splash to claim the first fall.

Stage 2: Red Doors Match

To be clear, the winner of this fall must put their opponent through a RED door. . Rush goes for that one first. Rush wants a powerbomb but Christian slips it and hits a double knees. The door holds steady. Rush realizes the danger and loses the door before Christian hits a Spanish Fly/Frog Splash combo...BUT THERE’S NO PINFALL HERE! Blake gets a ladder and some chairs and a BLACK door. Christian wants to come off the top, Rush catches him and tries to burn him with a lit tiki torch on the corner post. Christian kills it with his bare hand and sends Rush down through the black door...so this fall ain’t over. The red door hangs out in the corner like a ghoul, teasing us. Rush with a trash can over his head and Christian blasts it with a PK. Blackheart whipped into a ladder. Rush shotgun dropkicked through the red door but it does NOT break. Rush comes in with a cannonball but misses Christian entirely and puts himself through the red door. The ref calls the fall for Christian.

Stage 3: Casket Match

Christian laid out on a ladder bridge and Rush frog splashes through it. Rush gets Christian beaten down into the casket on the stage but can’t close the lid. Christian battles out, gets Rush in there but he rakes the eyes and drags Christian into the box with him. Rush applies a cross face choke and strangles Christian to unconsciousness. Rush slides out and closes the casket. RING THE BELL!

Winner: Blackheart Lio Rush (2:1)

This was great work from both guys but the story was all Rush. Even the fall he dropped was due to his own rage getting out of control and wiped himself out. Rush takes in the victory as he wear his crown of barbed wire thorns. Rush/Christian is like Steen/Generico or Dijak/Lee. I will watch these two fight ANYTIME.  

Match 2: “Spider” Nate Webb vs 1 Called Manders

The winner of the Spring Break 4 Clusterf*** has his workout out for him with the big cowboy...but to start, we’re gonna get a full “Teenage Dirtbag” party with the camera folk and crew. Manders is a big strong boy and uses that to his advantage early. They battle to the stage and the scrappy Webb uses chairs to take the lead. Webb whipped back over the gap to the ring. Webb push kicks Manders out of the air and he crashes to the floor, narrowly avoiding the stage. THAT WAS CLOSE. O_O Chait structure set up and Manders slams Webb off the corner through it. Manders grabs a pair of doors (Normal ones this time). Manders starts putting Webb through the doors and the resultant shrapnel. Webb won’t stay down for three. Manders going for an Oklahoma stampede through a chair but Webb smashes his face into it as well. Webb whiffs a chair moonsault. Manders BLASTS HIM with a lariat through the chair and stack him up for the pin.

Winner: Manders

This was a crazy car crash of a match, with every subsequent spot after that stage bump just getting wilder and wilder. Great final sequence of near falls. Loved this. 

Match 3: Myron Reed vs Brayden Lee

Solid battling and back and forth work here. Myron’s got a youngboy at ringside in his corner, who distracts Lee into a dropkick to the back of the head. Lee trying to battle back but gets reversed into a stunner. Slingshot powerbomb and a yakuza kick but Lee won’t stay down. Reed hit with a famouser to the apron and he takes a NASTY bump on the edge. Poisonrana back in the ring and Lee dives after the youngboy. Lee wants to finish with a shooting star but eats knees. Lee barely kicks out. Lee looks to do...maybe a code red but Reed catches the legs for the pin. 

Winner: Myron Reed

This was a good show. Solid mid-card match here. A little clunky at times and maybe the energy was affected by the hangover of just being after the first two matches we just saw. 

Match 4: KTB vs Matthew Justice

This will be a banger. Justice captures a headlock. KTB tries to back suplex his way out and....nope. Trading shoulder blocks and we’re toe to toe, never back down. Cactus clothesline to the outside. Justice is eyeing that balcony. Justice over the top rope but slammed down by the beast. Rolling gore for a near fall. Justice with a suplex but KTB...unsuplexes himself back into a full mount and rains down punches. Big ending sends Justice out to the bar while KTB bridges the stage gap with a few doors. KTB whiffs a slingshot splash and eats a spear. KTB puts Justice through a door for a one count. Justice up and hits a coast to coast senton through a broken door for ONE. Justice with a senton through the stage gap door and a super fly splash for the pin!

Winner: Matthew Justice

Justice is such a classic ECW throwback and KTB made a willing dance partner for his brand of chaos. 

Main Event: “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela vs Treehouse Lee

Fast pin attempt sequence right at the bell. Lee is frustrating the bad boy to start until Janela drags him out and slams him into the garage door. Janela with a body scissors and dropping elbows. Joey set up a door in the corner but Lee squirms out of getting put through it. Big DDT counter from Lee. Lee back in change and spikes Joey with a spinning famouser for two. Lee takes too much time and gets gut shot out of the ring to the bar top. Chest first to the top rope back into the ring and Joey is eyeing the door again. Almost a double pin. Piledriver for two. Janela holds a reverse choke, Lee reverses it and puts Janela through the door FACE-FIRST. oh god. Janela is staggered as Lee swinging wildly. Lee with a spinning rana but Janela turns him inside out. A Brainbuster....out at one! Janela going for the win but Lee catches him with a flying back kick to the face for two. Lee grabs another door but Janela with a discus elbow. Lee comes off the top rope but Janela catches him with a cutter. Pounce through the door and Janela hits a package piledriver for the....KICK OUT! Janela goes searching for more plunder but Lee flies out of the ring after him. Janela recovers to hit a DVD to the apron. Big elbow drop from the top! Kick out! Joey is mad now and locks in a deeeeeep boston crab. Lee is exhausted and can only verbally submit.

Winner: Joey Janela

Good main event level battle here. Lee has been working his way up the card in GCW for the last year and this was a heck of a elevation moment for him, in his first GCW main event against the BAD BOY, of all people! Janela looked great here. Lee is innovative as heck. Good stuff.

And that’s it for “The Wind of God”. A great set of matches to kick this off! Absolutely check out Rush/Christian and Webb/Manders. There were some audio and video sync issues at various points through the show so let’s hope they get those squared away as the stream goes on. Onward into the night! Until then!
