On the pre-show, Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega beat Rusev and Lana, when Vega used the ropes to score the pin. The match went pretty much the way that I thought it would. Almas is the ascending act and since Lana is still “learning” the craft they had a ready made finish for this bout, and they used it.
Now it’s time for Cedric Alexander to defend his Cruiserweight Title against Drew Gulak. It’s a shame that this is on the pre-show, but such is life. If NXT can keep growing the way that HHH wants, I would love to see 205 Live be a part of the big NXT shows. Drew was in control most of the way, while Cedric kept fighting back. Cedric did some big spots while Drew expertly controlled the match. Cedric managed to come back in the end and get the pin in a really, really good match. These guys so deserved to be on the main show. I hope that this feud is not over yet!
On another note, I have been really enjoying JBL on the pre-show.
The B Team beat The Revival to retain the Tag Team Titles. It went as I expected. Revival dominated most of the way after taking out Curtis Axel with Shatter Machine. Once Axel made his comeback the B Team eked out a win. I love The Revival but B Team is getting over a bit so I expected them to win and I think it was the right call.
Cool open with Terry Crews narrating over the footage. The hologram over the ring was cool too. WWE gets technology, no doubt. We are starting hot with Seth Rollins, with the wildly over Dean Ambrose, taking on Dolph Ziggler, with Drew McIntyre, for the Intercontinental Title. The former Shield guys are OVER. Good reaction for the heels as well.
Seth has one gold boot and one black boot. I like that kind of quirky thing. Seth gets it.
Early on, Drew got near the ring and Dean, with his excellent new bad ass look, faced off with him. Then when Drew got in Seth's face, there was Dean to do it to Ziggler. Seth said it's a new ball game now. I hope he's right and they don't turn Dean for no reason at all.
Ziggler attacked the knee and was in control for a while. Dean kept Drew out of it.
Seth came back a bit but flew over the top to the floor and sold the leg. He came back in and had Zig up for a suplex but the leg gave out and they both hit the floor. They are working hard. They don't want countdown chants again.
Seth was on fire with a ton of big spots, and got a two. The crowd is into this one. Dolph came back and said that Seth made him do this and kicked him into the post and then did a DDT on the apron. Seth just beat the count.
Seth came back and did a Frog Splash but Dolph got the legs up. Seth kicked out at two. The crowd is into this one, and rightfully so.
Dolph keeps trying to work the knee but Seth has been fighting through it.
I can't even describe what Seth did, but it was sick and could have been the win, but Zig kicked out and the crowd loved it. We got a This Is Awesome chant. It legit is.
Seth loaded for the Stomp but Drew attacked Dean and Seth stopped. It allowed Zig to get a near fall. Seth is bleeding from the head.
They traded small packages and Seth hit a Buckle Bomb but Drew got on the apron. Dean destroyed him. Ziggler loaded up for the kick but Seth saw it coming and hit the Stomp, 1-2-3.
Awesome match to start the show, off the hook stuff.
Bellas are in the house. They just want to be here. Will they appear on Evolution? They have talked about returning to the ring but they are here to see Ronda win the Title. They will be in the front row for the match. Will they cost her?
