LESNAR VS. BRAUN, CENA COMMENTS ON FUTURE WWE STATUS AFTER REIGNS BOUT & MORE: WWE NO MERCY COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-09-24 19:55:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of the 2017 WWE No Mercy PPV!

KICKOFF SHOW

The Kickoff panel is Renee Young, Sam Roberts, Jerry Lawler and David Otunga.

Charly Caruso is in the social media liunge and will be joined by Alex Bliss later on during the Kickoff.

Backstage, Braun Strowman said that tonight, there is no more waiting and that he's going to destroy Brock Lesnar.  He promised he was going to take the title.

They aired a video feature on John Cena vs. Roman Reigns.

Kurt Angle was interviewed by the panel and began talking about Jason Jordan challenging for the WWE Intercontinental championship.  Miz showed up and told Angle that he was never there for his son but he will have to be there tonight to watch Miz beat the hell out of his son.  Lawler warned him him that he himself once insulted Bret Hart's family and it came back to haunt him.  Miz said he was the greatest IC champion of all time and would beat Angle's son tonight.

Finn Balor did a promo where he said he was an extraordinary man who does extraordinary things and will do that tonight against Bray Wyatt tonight.

The panel discussed the WWE Raw Tag Team championship match.

Backstage, Neville said he can't wait to see the look on everyone's face when they realize that Enzo Amore has been horribly disfisgured.

The Kickoff feels much tighter than it has in the past with lots of promos building to the show tonight.  It's not just endless conversation from the panel.  It feels like tonight's show is important and I am enjoying that personally.    Lots of promotion for the Hell in A Cell PPV so far as well and this thing called the WWE Network.  They really, really, REALLY want you to order it.

They aired an Asuka promo.  Backstage, Alexa Bliss said her pending arrival is good for the division but she's never faced Alexa.  She said she's ready for the Five Way tonight.  She said that Nia's weakness is that she's not willing to do what it takes to win and she is.  A fan tweeted a marriage proposal at her and she demolished that guy's chances.

The panel discussed the Raw Women's championship.

Elias vs. Apollo Crews (with Titus O'Neill)

Elias sang his anti-LA song.  Apollo had control early, taking him down and working him over with a side headlock.   Crews nailed some nice dropkicks and went back to the headlock.   Elias cut him off with a mule kick off the ropes and cinched in a rear chinlock.  Action is fine so far for an opening bout.   Crews made a comeback and hit a standing shooting star press for a two count.  Elias went for a right hand but was blocked and drilled with an enziguiri.  He went to the floor.  Crews followed and tossed him back in.   He went for a move off the ropes but Elias moved.  He caught Crews with a Boomerang clothesline in the corner, then hit his neckbreaker variation, the Drift Away for the pin.

Your winner, Elias!

Elias kicked at Crews after the bell.  Titus hit the ring but Elias, smiling, backed off.

Fine match for the position it was in.  Elias needed the win here to continue building him.

Backstage, Paul Heyman cut a promo saying it was an unprecedented question being asked, whether Brock Lesnar can deal with Braun Strowman.  He said that Braun was asserted himself as the monster among men.  Heyman said they know he's the monster, but can Brock be the "Beast among Monsters?"  Heyman said that was the question the hype provides and tonight, we'll find out the answer.

WWE NO MERCY 2017

WWE Intercontinental champion The Miz (with Miztourage) vs. Jason Jordan.

They said Miz dedicated the match to his unborn child.  Not exactly a heel move!

I am pretty sure I spotted Brittney Young from Netflix's GLOW in the first row.

Jordan looked strong early on, hitting a suplex and worked over Miz.  Miz cut him off and drove him into the ring apron and the barricade outside.  He brought the challenger back into the ring for a two count.  .  There was a "Let's go Jason" chant.  He fought out of a chinlock but Miz caught him with a DDT.  They battled to the outsode, where Jordan regained control.  He tossed Miz back in and nailed a flying clothesline for a two count.

Miz regained control and began drilling Jordan with kicks to the chest until Jordan snatched him and suplexed him overhead.  Jordan put together some offense and nailed a series of clotheslines and a back suplex for a two count.  The crowd was booing his punches.  Maybe Bill Watts is really his dad?   Miz went for the Skull Crushing Finale but Jordan used a forward roll for a two count followed by a pair of Northern Light suplex for another two count.

Miz went to the outside.  Jordan took out the Miztourage.  Miz was caught in a crossface in the middle of the ring.  Miz teased tapping but fought his way to the ropes.  That forced a tap.  Miz did a great job teasing the submission here.   Jordan charged him in the corner but Miz sidestepped him and his shoulder hit the turnbuckle.    Both competitors fought to return to their feet.  Miz went for his leaping clothesline into the corner but was caught and nailed with an overhead belly to belly suplex.  Bo Dallas got into the ring and the official got distracted.  Jordan had Miz pinned with a rollup but Curtis Axel interfered.

Miz nailed the Skull Crushing Finale and scored the pin.

Your winner and still WWE Intercontinental champion, The Miz!

Good, competitive bout.  Jordan remains a work in progress.

Jordan was interviewed and said he is let down he couldn't overcome The Miz and the Miztourage.  He said he'd like a rematch.  He said that when his father comes out, the fans lovingly chant "You Suck", but "Miz, you really do suck."  Not a strong promo.

Remember, for those of you that like to bet on wrestling, two great sites to do so are Casino Book Of Ra and Quasar Game!
