LESNAR VS. BRAUN, CENA COMMENTS ON FUTURE WWE STATUS AFTER REIGNS BOUT & MORE: WWE NO MERCY COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-09-24 19:55:00

John Cena vs. Roman Reigns.

If Cena shows up as shiny, happy Cena like he did at Summerslam against Baron Corbin, oh man are we in for a screeching halt to what's been a damn fun show so far.  Here we go.

They locked up and Reigns grabbed a headlock.  He was shot into the ropes and ran through Cena with a shoulderblock.   Cena smiled and acted like he was walking out.  Roman raced up the ramp and drilled Cena with a right hand.  He told John that he came to fight and brought him back to the ring.  He nailed Cena with another right hand.  Cena drilled him with a sideslam and scored a two count.

Roman worked over Cena with kicks and tossed him to the floor.  Roman whipped Cena hard into the ring steps on the floor.  Reigns nailed the Driveby dropkick.     Cena was worked over but fought back and nailed the Blue Thunder Bomb and went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle but Reigns drilled him.  Reigns nailed a series of clotheslines in the corner.  Cena fought back and went for the AA but Reigns slipped off and kicked him in the face.

Cena came back and locked in the STF.  Roman made it to the ropes.  He battled back and hit a sitdown powerbomb for another two count.  Reigns drilled Cena with a right.  Cena fired back.  It was a back and forth until Reigns went for a high cross bodyblock.  Cena caught him in mid-air and turned it into an AA.  Reigns kicked up at the last second.

Cena caught Reigns and went for the Alabama Jam but Roman caught Cena coming down and powerbombed him. Cena kicked up.  Reigns nailed the Superman punch.  Cena kicked out again.  Roman went for a spear but Cena avoided the charge and Reigns hit his shoulder hard on the ringpost.  Cena nailed the AA off the turnbuckles but Reigns kicked up at the last minute.

Cena smiled and went to the floor, setting up several announcing tables for carnage.    Cena set up Roman for an AA through a table but Reigns slipped out and speared Cena from one table through the other, which looked sick as Reigns came down on the top of his head.  Roman brought Cena back into the ring but Cena kicked up from a pinfall attempt.  Reigns went for a spear.  Cena caught him and hit a third AA, rolled through and hit number four, but Roman again kicked up.

Reigns caught Cena out of nowhere with a Superman punch and speared Cena, scoring the pin.

Your winner, Roman Reigns!

Very good match playing off Cena and Reigns' trademark moves.  They had some good intensity.  The crowd started really having fun giving them each static but as it went, they pulled the fans into a really emotional roller coaster.  Really good stuff.

After the match, Cena raised Roman's arm.  The crowd booed.  Roman hugged Cena and showed him respect as well.  It seemed way too early for the mutual respect deal, which only strengthens my belief Cena will be gone for an extended period due to his Hollywood commitments.  Cena sat in the ring for a long time soaking it in.  It was quietly played up like this may have been it for John as a regular for the company.  The crowd chanted "Thank you Cena."  As I said on an Elite audio the day the Transformers movie was announced, Cena was gone, even if WWE didn't treat it like he was.  Like the Rock, he'll be connected to the WWE mythology forever but as a day to day soldier for the company, that period is over.

They announced Miz TV with Roman Reigns tomorrow would kick off Raw.

WWE Cruiserweight champion Neville vs. Enzo Amore.

Vic Joseph made his WWE PPV calling this with Corey Graves.  Enzo did a long promo.  He's dressed in stripes and looked like he was refereeing, as opposed to challenging.

This is going to be in the position of cooling down the crowd before the main event.  We will see what that allows them to do because traditionally, this is a death spot in terms of crowd reaction.

Early on, Neville controlled him and said it was too easy as he worked over Amore with a front facelock.  He worked on Enzo's arm.  Neville worked over the challenger, stomping away at him  Neville nailed a sliding kick to send him to the floor, then drilled him into the barricade face first.  Enzo barely made the ten count but avoided being counted out.  Neville locked in a side chinlock.

Neville was tossed over the top but skinned the cat and returned.  Neville still nailed him with a superkick for a two count.  There was a "This is boring" chant.   Neville continued working over Enzo and went for the Red Arrow.  He changed his mind and instead went for a Phoenix Splash but Amore rolled out of the ring.  Enzo went off the top with a big DDT as he came down.  He covered Neville who got his shoulder up at the last second.

Neville was tossed to the floor.  Enzo charged for a dive but Neville kicked him in the head and tossed him into the timekeeper's area.  The referee began counting him out but Enzo grabbed the Cruiserweight title, which enraged Neville.  Neville chased him into the ring.  Enzo brandished the belt as a weapon but the referee took it away.  Enzo kicked Neville in groin and pinned Neville.

Your winner and new WWE Cruiserweight champion, Enzo Amore!

Yep.

They announced Raw Talk with Cena, Alexa and Enzo.  I wonder if Cena will discuss his future.
