Main event time!
Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens.
As I noted earlier, The Rock's mom is ringside. FORESHADOWING?
No Usos or Solo with Roman. Just Sami and Paul Heyman.
They face off and then they go to war. They battled around ringside. They battled back in, where Roman tossed Owens hard into the buckles and then nailed a Rock Bottom. FORESHADOWING?
Roman nailed the Driveby on Owens for a two count. A big part of the match was focusing on Zayn as the announcers wondered who's side he was on emotionally.
Reigns missed a Superman Punchy and was hit with a German suplex. Roman went for a spear but was sent into the ring post shoulder-first. Owens nailed a swanton for a close two count.
They battled to the top, where Reigns tried to go for a superplex but Owens blocked and fought him off. Owens went for a moonsault but slipped and crashed on Roman. He followed uo with a back senton splash for a two count but was speared by Roman after missing a moonsault.
The referee was bumped when Owens avoided a spear. Owens hit a pop up powerbomb and had Roman pinned with no official available. Roman demanded a chair. Sami was hesitant but finally went looking for it before he hesitated again. The delay allowed Owens to nail a stunner for a close two count.
Roman nailed ANOTHER spear for a close near fall. The crowd was LOVING all of this. Sami told Owens, who was on the floor, to stay down. Reigns DESTROYED him with an evil looking spear through the barricade. Owens was smashed backwards onto the ring steps. Roman did it again and Michael Cole screamed for them to stop the match.
Owens began trying to fight back but was speared again and pinned.
A really damn strong, dramatic, physical main event.
The Usos and Solo arrived. They went to acknowledge Sami but Roman stopped them and ordered The Usos to attack Owens. They did. He ordered Solo to continue the job. They placed a chair around Owens' neck and Solo nailed a hip attack in the corner. Paul Heyman handed them several pairs of handcuffs. They handcuffed Owens to the ropes as Roman brandished a chair and Sami watched.
Finally, Roman went to hit Owens but Sami stepped in between them. He tried to tell Roman this was all beneath him and he didn't have to do this. Roman was better than this. He said Owens was done. Roman, annoyed at the insolence, handed the chair to Sami. Sami said that he didn't want it. Heyman crowed it was Sami's moment. Roman said they went to far now to go back. Sami was theirs and they were his. He told Roman he loves him and cares about him. The ring us his but if he wants to be a part of that, he's got to go and be done. He told Sami to pull the trigger.
He began slapping Sami and going face to face with him. He said this is his whole life. This was absolutely tremendous. Sami finally made a choice and nailed Roman with the chair. The Usos questioned him. They attacked him with superkicks. They began mauling Sami. Roman screamed for them to kill them. They beat the hell out of Sami, except Jimmy. He rolled out of the ring and waked out, beside himself. The stadium went nuts for this. They beat Sami and ripped the shirt off of him. The crowd chanted, "F*** you Roman."
Roman ripped the flowers off a lei and dropped them on Sami, as if it was his funeral. The Bloodline began walking up the aisle but looked back at the carnage they inflicted.
All three main events really delivered and the post-show angle was awesome. It's a different era today but that was on par with any great territory-exploding angle, i.e. Terry Gordy slamming the steel cage door in Kerry Von Erich's face, etc. This was truly something.
