NEW ROH CHAMPION CROWNED: COMPLETE ROH DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR XI COVERAGE FROM PHILADELPHIA, PA

By Mike Johnson on 2013-09-20 19:37:32

We are live in Philadelphia, PA at the National Guard Armory for coverage of Death Before Dishonor XI!

As it turns out, ROH is streaming this show for free on www.gfl.tv so head there if you want to check the show out. You will have to sign up for a free GFL account in order to watch the stream.

Before the show and during a student match, Steve Corino entered the venue with a sign and lackies demanding his reinstatement into the company.  Both times he was ejected from the building.

Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness came out.  The crowd chanted, "Thank you Nigel" followed by chanting for Kelly.

The show went on iPPV and out came former ROH champion Jay Briscoe with the belt, which as announced, he will have to hand over to the new champion tonight.  Briscoe took the mic and said that if you want to be successful in life, you have to put hard work in.  He says that a company is only as good as how hard their employees work.  He said that 11 years, ROH was born at the Murphy Rec Center.  Jay said he was on the first show and he was 18 then, so he's spent his entire adult life busting his ass trying to make this company grow.  The fans chanted, "Yes you did."

He said when Kevin Steen and SCUM were trying to take down the place, Jay Briscoe kicked his ass and took the title.  He said that according to the higher-ups, he has an injury and isn't allowed to defend the title and is stripped.  He asked Nigel why when he was the ROH champ, he was allowed to defend the title hurt but Jay can't.  He said that he knows Nigel is just the messenger but from the bottom of his heart, this is bullshit.

Briscoe said that his daddy told him not to look back but look ahead.  He said if the winner of the tournament wins like a man, like Jay won the belt, he's going to have to come down and hand the belt over.  He said he doesn't want to but he will.  He said when he's cleared to wrestle, he's going to return and take the belt back but tonight he's got no choice but to hand it over.

Good promo!

Bobby Cruise announced to the live crowd that they are returning to iPPV and will be streaming live.  He announced to the crowd that a VOD version of the show will be available to Ringside Members for free this weekend as well.  He said that ROH appreciates the patience and cooperation of their fans as they have dealt with their iPPV issues over the last several months.  That was a nice, classy move.

Jay Lethal vs. Silas Young

Big pop for Lethal as the fans chanted his name.  They shook hands at the bell but Young did so in a way that showed aggression.

Lethal and Young tied up and they ended up in the corner.  Jay broke clean.  They went back and forth.  Young cut off Lethal as he went for a dive.  He worked over Jay, who came back with a dropkick.  Jay tossed him to the outside and hit a series of dives. The crowd went nuts and chanted his name.

Lethal went for a sunset flip into the ring on Young but he was stomped in the chest.  Young worked him over with a series of shoulderblocks.  Lethal made a comeback and worked over Silas.  He went to the top for the flying elbowsmash.  Young cut him off and went for a superplex.  Lethal fought him off and went for the elbow.  Young rolled out of the way.

Young nailed Lethal as he went to grab him and drilled him with a backbreaker and a clothesline.  He grabbed Lethal for a DVDR but Jay slipped out and drilled him.  He went for the springboard elbow off the ropes but was caught and nailed with a belly to back suplex.

Young drilled Lethal with a knee to the face.  He went for a double springboard Arabian Press but Lethal moved out of the way.  Lethal hit a elbow and scored the pin.

Your winner, Jay Lethal!

Good back and forth opener.

Former ROH announcer Sugar Shawn Price is in attendance visiting.

ROH Title Tournament Semi-Final: Adam Cole vs. Tomasso Ciampa

Ciampa came out strong attacking Cole and stomping the hell out of him.  Cole came back with a boot to the face and a superkick that sent Ciampa off the apron to the floor.  Cole nailed him with a dive.

They battled on the floor but it was out of my sightlines.  The crowd was really into it, however.  They battled on the floor for a bit.

They returned to the ring and trashed each other.  Ciampa went for a move off the top but Cole slipped out and superkicked his knee while he was on the ropes, hurting him.  Cole went to the outside and worked over Ciampa's knee.  He continued working him over but was caught in a small package for a two count.  Cole then locked on a figure four leglock.

Ciampa broke the hold and they battled back and forth with strikes and chops.  Cole nailed a running knee for a two count.  Cole went for another but was caught.  Ciampa went for a powerbomb but Cole slipped out and nailed a Yakuza kick.  Ciampa came back with a big kick of his own for a two count.

This is an awesome match.

Cole caught Ciampa with a brainbuster, driving his knee into Ciampa's head for a two count.  Ciampa came back with an armbar.   Cole, trapped, began kicking at him.  Cole KO'd Ciampa and scored the pin while still trapped.

Your winner, Adam Cole!

Just a great match.

Ciampa got a nice ovation on the way out.
