Welcome to my ongoing WWE Survivor Series blog!
They opened with a singer performing the national anthem for the United States, even though they are in Canada! Canada is way too polite. They then sang O'Canada.
They are opening with the women's Wargames and showed Liv Morgan's team walking in the back, ready for war.
They blew up a lot of pyro.
Michael Cole said they are sold out tonight. I believe it.
It's the 38th Survivor Series PPV. I can still remember getting cable two days before Thanksgiving in 1987 and being so excited to order the first show as a kid. Who would have known where that would have taken me! Ha!
We are opening with the Women's Wargames match.
Nia Jax is starting for Team Liv, which is a bit of a surprise seeing her in the Arn Anderson role.
Bayley is starting for Team Bianca, so we'll get these rivals rematching. Bayley was whipping Nia with her belt but Nia gained possession and well, that didn't work out so well for Bayley. Nia was all, power and nearly murdered her with a hip attack in the ropes. Lots of big power spots from Nia as she mauled poor Bayley.
The countdown clock ended and it was Naomi entering for Team Bianca. Naomi was wearing a birthday hat as it's her birthday. She grabbed a colorful Singapore Cane from under the ring. They battled. Naomi nailed a split legdrop. Bayley and Naomi worked over Jax. Nia beat the hell out of them with the Singapore cane and even used a toilet seat on Bayley. Naomi gained control and put the toilet seat on Jax's face and then hit the Rearview in the corner.
Next up was Tiffany Stratton but Candice LaRae pushed out in front of her. The crowd booed LaRae.
Candice and Nia battled with Bayley and Naomi. They set up several chairs in the ring with the idea of putting one of the babyfaces through it.
Bianca Belair was next out and tossed a trash can at Nia's face. She went for more plunder under the ring, including a trash can and a table. She nailed Candice with a chair. The battle continued.
Tiffany was out next, getting a big pop. She grabbed more plunder. She went to hit Bianca from behind but Bianca backflipped off the ropes to escape, only to be nailed anyway. Tiffany and Nia worked over Bayley. Tiffany hit a backslide on Naomi, who was legdropped by Nia while trapped. They then hit a nice Blockbuster/Samoan Drop combo on Bianca. Nice teamwork.
IYO SKY is out next. It makes sense to leave Rhea for last since she's banged up.
IYO puled out a trash can and climbed to the top of the cage with it. Nothing good can come of this!
Candice met IYO and tried to stop her at the top of the cage. IYO went for a sunset flip bomb but Candice held on. IYO knocked her off the cage and nailed a missile dropkick from the top rope. IYO and Tiffany went back and forth, showboating and trying to outdo the other. IYO cracked her with a chair. It was all IYO until Nia Jax DECIMATED her from behind.
Raquel Rodriguez was next out.. She pulled a table in the ring. The heels worked over the babyfaces. Nia and Raquel powerbombed foes into the cage and then each other. There were quite a few spots with weapons and in the cage where they were protecting their opponents and it showed but I'm totally OK with that.
Rhea Ripley, wearing the mask, is the last out for her team. She took out everyone.
Then the chaos began! It was plunder city.
IYO and Tiffany hit stereo moonsaults off the top of the cage into each ring. With everyone down, Tiffany pulled the MITB Briefcase out of a locker room. She was trying to decide who to cash in on but IYO used a fire extinguisher on everyone.
Rhea handcuffed Raquel to the ropes.
The big finish was Rhea hitting Liv with a Riptide off the top rope through a table, which looked tremendous.
An sbsolutely fun 15 minutes of chaos once the Match Beyond began!
The babyfaces all climbed the cage to celebrate. This was a great way to kick things off.
