By Mike Johnson on 2023-09-02 15:23:00

NWA held Night Two of “NWA 75” on Sunday 8/27 from The Chase Ballroom in St. Louis, Missouri.

As they did on Night One, the show was dedicated to Terry Funk and Windham Rotunda’s memories.

Our announce team is Joe Galli, Tim Storm and Velvet Sky.

NWA TV Champion Thom Latimer vs. Chris Adonis

If Latimer retains, he will be able to turn in the TV title for a NWA Championship match.

Latimer chased Adonis, who was on the floor, into the ring and nailed a series of clotheslines and armdrags at the start of the bout.  He dropped a series of knees to the shoulder and locked on another armbar.  The idea was he was trying to wear him down so the Masterlock wouldn’t be effective later.

Adonis fired back with a backbreaker across the knee, sending Latimer to the floor.  Adonis followed to the floor and slammed him back-first across the apron.  Adonis worked over his back when they returned to the ring and nailed a nice butterfly suplex for a two count.  Adonis continued with elbows to the head and face.

Adonis worked over Latimer in the corner.  He fired away with chops to the chest but Latimer fired back with kicks.  Adonis cut him off and whipped Latimer hard into the buckles for a two count.  Adonis continued the attacks on the champ’s back but was caught with an inverted atomic drop.  Latimer nailed a series of clotheslines and hit a sit-out powerbomb.

Latimer went back to the arm but Adonis attacked his back.  Latimer surprised him with a Flatliner for a two count.  Adonis came back to surprise Latimer with a big spinebuster and then a sit-out powerbomb but the competitors were too spent to capitalize.  They battled back to their feet and brawled with each other, nailing right hands and European uppercuts.

Adonis nailed a sit-out powerbomb for a close two count.  Adonis called for the Masterlock and cinched it in.  Latimer pushed off the buckles but Adonis escaped a pinfall attempt. Adonis was frustrated but went to the top rope but was taken out and locked in a crossface.  Adonis tapped.

Your winner and still NWA TV Champion, Thom Latimer!

A good, back and forth competitive bout from two veterans.

NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions M95 (Madi and Missa Kate) vs. Pretty Empowered (Ella Envy and Kylie Paige)

Pretty Empowered are the former Tag Champions.  Ella Envy has some nice charisma.  Kylie and Missa Kate battled back and forth early.  Kylie was manuevered into the ropes and when the referee admonished Missa, Madi hit her with a legdrop from the outside.  Ella tagged in but M95 maintained control.

Pretty Empowered took over the momentum of the match working over Kate and scoring several two counts.  Kate was worked over but kept kicking out and trying to fight her way out.  Envy and Kate nailed a double hair mare.  Madi made the hot tag and cleaned house with several big clotheslines and backdrops.  Madi nailed a Jazz Stinger on Paige but Envy broke it up.

Kate was nailed with a Code Red for the pin.

Your winners and new Tag Team Champions, Pretty Empowered!

They all worked hard.

Sam Leterna interviewed The Southern Six.  Thrillbilly Silas Mason said if he had a head like Jordan Clearwater’s, he’d have it circumcised.  Great line.

NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Colby Corino with Jamie Stanley vs. Jack Cartwheel.

Lots of very good action early.  They went to the floor, where Corino caught him attempting a head scissors and powerbombed him on the apron.  Corino nailed a cannonball coming off the apron to the floor.  Cartwheel was worked over with a series of hard chops but returned to the ring to break the countout.  He went back to the floor but Cartwheel snapped him with a kick from a platform set up for the cameras.

Cartwheel nailed a moonsault off the platform, then  tossed Corino back in.  He hit a beautiful twisting splash, using the ropes like a gymnastics ring to twist over.  Athletically, he’s very gifted in a graceful way but the moves never look exposed.  Corino was shoved hard into the buckles and nailed with a hard chop.  This only pissed off Corino and they fired back and forth in an intense exchange.  Corino escaped a death valley driver attempt and nailed a big double stomp for a two count.

Corino nailed a hard chop to the chest and nailed a big uranage. Corino followed up with a moonsault for a two count.  Cartwheel ducked a short arm clothesline and nailed a German suplex.  Corino popped up and nailed a standing Spanish Fly for a close two count.  Lots of good action here.

Corino and Cartwheel kept battling.  Corino was sent to the floor.  Cartwheel nailed a space flying tiger drop and it looked fabulous.  Cartwheel went for a springboard move but was caught while upside down and nailed with the Styles Clash for a two count.  Corino conferred with Stanley, then hit a short arm clothesline.  Corino nailed a stiff kick and a tornado DDT but Cartwheel escaped and nailed a penalty kick to the champ.

Cartwheel used a cartwheel to spin himself into a crucifix bomb and it was great.  Cartwheel went to the top for a springboard move but crashed and burned into the ropes and I thought for a second he broke his neck.  Corino pounced immediately on him, attacked and pinned him.

Your winner and still NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Colby Corino!

This was just great, even with the frightening finish.  Cartwheel and Corino are absolutely going to be big players in the future.  Corino might be the best up and coming in-ring worker today and Cartwheel is a breath of fresh air athletically.
