LIVE THOUGHTS FROM ERIC BISCHOFF'S ONE SHOT: MLW IN NYC COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2024-12-05 19:00:00

Magnus vs. Titan

Lucha action!

The crowd was super into this from the onset with Titan hitting an early dive.  Magnus cut him off and nailed a 619 for a two count.  He elevated Titan for a slam and scored a two count.  They battled the corner, where Magnus nearly unmasked Titan.  Titan came back with a superkick but was cut off with several clotheslines.    They fought into the ropes and tumbled over the top to the floor.  Titan nailed a big flip dive to the floor.

Back in the ring, he locked on a Sharpshooter but Magnus made it to the ropes.  They battled back and forth with chops.  Titan nailed several kicks and caught Magnus with a side kick.  The crowd chanted for Titan.  They battled back and forth with strikes against the ropes.  Magnus reversed a guillotine choke into a slam and nearly scored a two count.    Magnus nailed a clothesline from behind.  Magnus caught Titan and powerbombed him into the corner, then nailed running knees for a two count.

Titan escaped a Jay Driver attempt unloaded with some nice offensive moves,  including some kicks.  He nailed a high flying double stomp off the top for a two count.    He went back to the Sharpshooter and scored the submission.

Your winner, Titan!

Enjoyable stuff.

Tom Lawlor vs. Timothy Thatcher

Thatcher had some Terry Funk style tights.  I like it!

They locked up and muscled each other around the ring.  Neither man gained the advantage and they broke the clench.  They went for a test of strength.  Lawlor gained control and forced Thatcher backwards into a bridge, then jumped on top.  They locked up again with Thatcher grabbing a rear waistlock.  Lawlor slid and out for a back suplex.  It was blocked and Thatcher knocked him over the ropes and to the floor.

They battled to the floor, where they grabbed each other in holds while on the floor.  They fought to the apron, where they battled over a suplex attempt.  Lawlor cinched in a guillotine choke but was kicked low.  Thatcher began to work over Lawlor's leg.  Lawlor fired up with kicks from the mat.  They were stiff.  Thatcher grabbed his ankle and worked it over.  He pulled out a Terry Funk spinning toehold.  Thatcher is now my favorite wrestler for as long as he holds it.    Lawlor fought his way out and battered Thatcher with chops.  Thatcher caught him with a chop block and covered him for a two count.  Thatcher tied him up on the mat, trying to force a submission with a Regal Stretch.

Lawlor fought his way out and used a backslide for a two count.  Thatcher caught him with a belly to belly suplex for a two count.    Lawlor took control and came off the top with a punch, then choked him out with a rear naked choke.  The referee stopped it.

Your winner, Tom Lawlor!

Donovan Dijak hit the ring and tried to attack Lawlor but Lawlor battled him off.  Security held them apart.

MLW Champion Satoshi Kojima vs. Ultimo Guerrero

Guerrero attacked him before the bell.   He controlled the match early, shoulderblocking Kojima down.  Kojima came back with a shoulderblock of his own.  Guerrero drilled him with a hard chop..  Kojima fired back and off they went, beating the heck out of each other.  NYC loved it.  Guerrero took control until missing a clothesline in the corner and was beaten with rapid-fire chops.

Koijima was sent to the floor but battled back and hit a Diamond Cutter for a two count.  Kojima absorbed several clotheslines but was superplexed out of the corner.  Kojima went for a rana off the top but was caught and powerbombed down to the ring for a two count.  Kojima blocked a move and nailed a brainbuster for a two count.  Kojima went for the lariat but was drilled by Guerrero with one instead for a two count.

Kojima caught him with a lariat and pinned the CMLL legend.

Your winner and still champion, Satoshi Kojima!

Next up is the Eric Bischoff's One Shot broadcast at 9 PM Eastern.  Richard Trionfo will have live play by play and I'll blog the remainder of the taping as well.  See you then.
