Zero Hour starts with RJ City, Jeff Jarrett and Renee Paquette doing hype for buying the pay per view. The MCs, Private Party, start the Zero Hour at 10:40 am Central.
Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Matt Menard
Ariya Davari, Alex Reynolds, John Silver, Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, Anthony Ogogo, Mark Quen, and Isiah Kassidy vs Kyle Fletcher, Rocky Romero, Kip Sabian, Tommy Billington, Lio Rush, Action Andretti, Dante and Darius Martin
We get a few aerial shots of the set up and it looks incredibly impressive. The crowd sound is solid and has a nice mix between the announcers and the crowd.
This is very much a match to get a lot of people on the show, and it’s put together so that everyone gets to do their signature moves and work. Andretti gets to be the babyface in peril, and Sabian, who got the biggest entrance pop, gets to run wild. Kyle Fletcher gets a solid spotlight as well to make the crowd happy.
Lots of high flying stuff and big moves until Dante Martin hits a super high splash on Davari for the pin and the win.
Winners: Kyle Fletcher, Rocky Romero, Kip Sabian, Tommy Billington, Lio Rush, Action Andretti, Dante and Darius Martin
We get an announcement that Grand Slam 2-15-2025 will be in Australia.
Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway vs Willow Nightingale and Tomohiro Ishii
I have to admit it’s pretty cool to see Willow, who I first saw in WOW in front of a studio audience. Now, seeing her get a massive pop at a stadium show is pretty cool.
Ishii is in the ring to start and after Hathaway gets his gear ready, he tags in Statlander. Willow and Statlander, who have worked together a lot over the last few months, bring it with lots of passion and emotion. Statlander does a lot of over the top heel posturing and works to pump up the crowd.
After both women are down and crawl to their corner, Ishii and Hathaway are tagged it;. Hathway
gets in the ring slowly and tries to lay in chops. Ishhi just bounces him around the ring. Statlander attacks as Hathway distracts the ref. This allows Hathaway to get in a few moves.
As both men are down, Willow gets a pounce on Statlander. Ishii follows with a sliding clothesline on Hathaway for the pin and the win.
Winners and chosing the stipulation for their match at All Out: Willow Nightingale and Tomohiro Ishii
Martha Hart and Tony Kahn are introduced by Tony Schiavone. Hart wishes the winners of the Owen Hart Tournament luck in their title matches tonight.
AEW Announces Forbidden Door will be in London on 8-24-2025.
Brian Cage, Toa Leona, Bishop Kaun, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett vs Sammy Geuvara, Katsuyori Shibata, Ross and Marshall Von Erich, and Dustin Rhodes w/Kevin Von Erich
Cage is wearing gear paying homage to the comic book costume of Marvel’s Wolverine.
Guevara’s crowd reaction is decidedly mixed.
They start by brawlign on the floor and then move into the ring so all the babyfaces can get a big coordinated move before it settles and they move to tagging in for the match. Sammy is in the ring for a long time as he is worked over by the heels both in and out of the ring. Dustin gets the hot tag so he can get in the greatest hits.
The Von Erichs, Gates of Agony and Cage do a big pyramid style suplex out of the corner that looked impressive as a massive move. The match is put together so that everyone gets a chance to look good and get a big crowd pleasing move in. There’s no story involved at all, just cool spots where Rhodes is able to pin Taven after Sammy gets a swanton off the top.
Winners: Sammy Guevara, Katsuyori Shibata, Ross and Marshall Von Erich, and Dustin Rhodes w/Kevin Von Erich
Afterward, Kevin gets in the ring to stop a post match beat down and all of the babyfaces get claws on the heels. I did like that Mike Bennett laid down and threw a fit in the entryway over losing.
We then go back to Renee and RJ for the hard sell.
Saraya interrupts the hard sell with Harley Cameron and the entire Knight family coming to the ring with her. She says the show will not go on until she gets the respect she deserves.
This brings out the returning Jaime Hayter.
Hayter takes out members of the Knight family and then hits the ring.
Cameron gets taken out with a clothesline and after Hayter takes out Saraya’s mother, Saraya bails. Cameron gets taken out again and she gets to stand tall in the middle of the ring.
The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Killswitch, and Nick Wayne) (AEW Trios Champions) vs. Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn) vs. House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews) vs. Pac and Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta) in a Ladder match
Everyone attacks except for Cage, who bails from the ring and lets everyone else fight. After a lot of brawling, a ladder is set up in the ring, and Brody stops Claudio from climbing it and it’s back to brawling. Pac gets a big twisting dive onto the others. The Gunns are in the ring and they work over Pac with a two man diving headbutt to Pac’s swimsuit area.
King takes them out and then hits a dive. He is NOT a man I would want to catch. Cage sees everyone is down and runs down to the ring and heads up a ladder, but King and Claudio toss him into the wrestlers and they all go after him. Mother Wayne starts up the ladder and the Gunns stop her by shaking the ladder. She gently climbs down and we;re back to the car crash match.
Killswitch starts up the ladder, but Cage shows up and says HE will grab the belts. They are stopped and it’s back to everyone fighting. Claudio is able to get the Giant Swing on Juice. The Bang Bang Gang sets up tables in the ring and they work to keep Claudio and Brody from climbing. The Gunns grab rear chain locks and they all go through the tables. As we get people spring off, Wayne dives out of the ring into a Destroyer on Black through a table on the floor.
Juice gets the tallest ladder and as he climbs, we see the top of it is above the belts. Christian tips the ladder and Juice falls into the ropes. Cage gets a Killswitch on a chair onto Pac. Mother Wayne passes hairspray to Cage and he uses it on Yuta. Cage takes Juice to the ropes for Mother to spray him in the face, but he mule kicks Cage and then uses a chair to block the spray. He then sprays Mother and goes to put her through a table, but Killswitch stops him.
Really fun comedy bit there. Buddy spears Cage off the ladder through a table. Killswitch puts Cage on his shoulder and heads up the ladder. Pac climbs the ladder and kicks them off. Pac is able to grab a belt and wins the match.
Winners: Pac and Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta)
Lots of crazy spots, everyone got a spotlight and Pac gets a huge moment.
"Timeless" Toni Storm (AEW Women’s Champion) vs. "The Glamour" Mariah May
Nigel McGuinness joins commentary
We see a plaque that Toni Storm was at Wembley in 1924. Luther is back to bring us Storm’s entrance. Toni’s personality really fits the idea of a stadium show with the crowd loving it.
They throw hands after stalking each other. We see that Mini Shirakawa is watching the match and torn between the two. After fighting in the ring, May is able to get a power bomb off the apron to the floor and she takes over the match. May gets in a lot of slow offense on Storm, getting a few near falls. When Storm is down, May gives Nigel a kiss on the cheek, drop kicks Luther and then slaps her own mother at ringside.
This allows Storm to recover and is able to hit a Storm Zero on the steel steps. Storm then goes and hugs May’s mother. Storm is busted open, and Tony actually says “Bring out the vampires.” Storm takes over and batters May around the ring. May starts to recover and hits a shotgun dropkick from the top to allow her to take over.
Storm takes three hip attacks, but Storm fires up with a hip attack and a Storm Zero for two. This leads to them throwing hands, low blows and head butts until they both drop. This leads to big moves followed by near falls. May tries to grab the belt, but Luther pulls it away and flips her the bird. May tries for the shoe and Storm stops her. Storm goes to use the show, but stops. May gets a running knee followed by Storm Zero for the pin and the win.
Winner and NEW AEW Women’s Champion: Mariah May
I liked how this match played out. It was a fight, and played out the emotion in the ring. The crowd loved it.
Toni leaves the ring crying and dancing.
Chris Jericho (FTW Champion) w/Big Bill and Brian Keith vs Hook - FTW Rules
If Hook loses, he can never challenge for the FTW Title again.
Fozzy is there to play Jericho’s entrance music and he joins them to sing. Jericho is also wearing Orange, which will annoy Taz.
Nigel leaves commentary and Taz joins.
All three attack Hook and they work him over. And yes, yet again, Big Bill gets huge cheers. Hook is able to clear the ring and hit Jericho with suplexes. This time, the black bag has Cricket balls, and Hook gets a cricket bat from under the ring. We get a great bit with Hook knocking the cricket balls into Jericho with the bat.
Keith nails Hook with a garbage can lid and Jericho takes over again. The brawl moves to the floor and Hook is blinded. Hook is in the ring, stunned and fighting blind as Jericho nails him with a trash can. Hook hits a suplex and then pulls off the tape and HE CAN SEE!
Bill pulls Hook off when Hook tries for the Redrum. Hook dodges an attack from Jericho, and Jericho puts Bill through a barbed wire table at ringside. Hook gets the Redrum and Taz grabs Keith to keep him from getting involved. Jericho has to tap out and our new Champion is Hook.
Winner and NEW FTW Champion: Hook
