WILL THE UNIVERSAL TITLE BE BRYAN'S FINAL STAND, EDGE'S REDEMPTION OR NONE OF THE ABOVE: WRESTLEMANIA 37 NIGHT TWO LIVE THOUGHTS FROM TAMPA

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-11 19:59:00

Great Khali, apparently FINALLY allowed to enter the building after flying in last week, meets Riddle.  RVD showed up and the stadium popped and chanted for Rob.  Whoever chose to script this one...you are a twisted soul.  We got to watch Sheamus hit Riddle with the scooter from a few weeks ago.  Now, I could watch THAT every week.

Riddle vs. Sheamus time.  Riddle scooted down the ramp.  Really.  The action early on was very good.  Sheamus scored several two counts and was in control with several backbreaker variations.  Sheamus worked him over and slammed Riddle for a two count.  Riddle mounted a comeback with some kicks and leaping forearms.  Riddle almost dropped Sheamus on a Jackhammer.  They seemed to have a slight communication issue but then got back into clicking in the ring.

Riddle flipped into the rinng but Sheamus wiped him out with a Brogue Kick but Riddle kicked up last second.  They battled to the floor, where Sheamus was sent into the ring post and then hit with a back suplex.  He was kicked off and Riddle did a flip off the apron to wipe him out on the floor.  He hit a twisting press off the top for a close two count.  He tied up Sheamus in a submission but was pulled up and powerbombed down.  The work has been pretty damn good here for the most part.

Sheamus goes for White Noise off the ropes but Riddle fights his way out.  Sheamus went for the White Noise again but slipped and landed in the ring.  He hit it.  Riddle and Sheamus went back and forth until Riddle went for a Lionsault but Sheamus kicked him in the face in mid-air, nailed him and scored the pin.  NEW CHAMPION!

This had some good wrestling, some stuff that didn't work out so it averaged out and was overall solid.  The crowd was into the big spots and some of the near falls live.  Riddle is a hell of an athlete and it was nice to see Sheamus, one of the true Thunderdome era MVPs in terms of the quality of his work, get the nod here.

They aired a vignette where Triple H gave Bad Bunny a mic and told him he was great at Wrestlemania but to go do his thing.  I think they just wrote him out to go on tour.

They are setting up for the Nigerian Drum Match.

They said No DQs, No Countouts, Anything Goes.  So this is a fancy name for a hardcore match.

Wale performed Big E to the ring.    Crews got the second entrance.  They beat each other with Singapore Canes.  Lots of weapons around ringside.    Crews was tossed to the outside, where E speared him to the floor.  That spot scares the hell out of me every time.  E set up the ring steps to use them as a weapon but Crews cut him off and slammed him on the apron outside for a two count.    The crowd is trying to rally Big E with New Day Rocks claps and chants.

Crews laid E on the lower portion of the ring steps and threw down the top portion but E moved out of the way.  They battled back and forth on the apron.    E made a comeback and grabbed a table, which got a rise out of the crowd.  He set it up in the ring and went to the floor to retrieve Crews.  Before he could put Crews through it, he was caught with a kick to the head and beaten with one of the canes.  Crews ascended to the top rope but missed a splash through the table, putting himself through it.

Before E could finish Crews off, the former Dabbo Kato hit the ring and attacked him, nailing a chokeslam.  Apollo covered E and scored the pin.  Kato has been given the new ring name Commador Azeez and will be part of Crews' deal going forward.  The crowd did not respond well to him beating down E.  LOTS of pyro after the win.  They were doing all they could to try and make it a big moment.

They aired a hell of a highlights package from last night.  Somehow the rain storm wasn't shown.  I can't imagine why.
