JON MOXLEY

On the debut of Brian Cage, AEW Champion Jon Moxley said they don't get smaller do they?  He said it's a whole new can of worms and he's going to be something to deal with.  He said that if Taz is anything as a manager like he was as a wrestler, he's going to be someone to deal with.

Mox was asked his favorite moment of the PPV tonight.  He saw snippets of the show but will go back to watch the entire show.  He said that everyone in the company is a team.  Even his rivals are technically teammates.  They want to bring new energy and entertainment to wrestling fans.  It feels like they just won the Super Bowl.  Everyone is jacked up and high-fiving.  They were an underdog.  It's a pandemic with all these safety protocols.  They had their backs against the wall.  He had his back against the wall with Brodie Lee.  You want the World title to be a big thing with a back story and a big thing and this was just a three week build.  To Lee's credit, he stepped up and jumped into the fire in a dangerous match.  Lee came up short but has nothing to be ashamed of.  It's the toughest match he's had since coming to AEW.  For the first time here, he felt like he was drowning and couldn't get out of water.  He said when you get that little opening, you take it and win any way you can.  He said there are a lot of people who are having curve balls thrown at them in life now, but when you get them thrown at you and stages are breaking and sh**s going bad, you have to find a way to win and refuse to let anything bad win the day.  You have to succeed and get what you want out of life.  Lee disrespected him and to leave him unconscious and bloody in the ring to show everyone what happens when you cross him, it was satisfying.

Dave Meltzer asked Moxley who he'd like to face for the AEW title on the roster right now.  Moxley said the first few matches he had were short, three-week notice kind od scenarios and he did everything in his power to turn it into something good as best he can.  Playing the long game and thinking about things that simmer for long, long time.  The chapter isn't closed on Moxley and Kenny Omega yet.  He named Hangman Page as someone who is growing into his own and might end up the man one day.  Cody could be a generational rival for him.  They are cut from two sides of the same coin but they have the same passion and look at things very similar with a big match feel.  MJF is coming up.  He wants to wrestle everyone.  He doesn't want to be on the top of the mountain and then it's all good.  He wants to be the last man standing and he relishes the chance to get in there with Brodie Lee, Jake Hager and see what they can do.  He wants to get in there with a Joey Janela, a Samy Guevara, a Darby Allin.  He can adapt to different styles and it's so much fun to get in there with different opponents but ultimately, it's about what the fans want to see.

Moxley was asked about the generation feeling of working with an "in-house" audience to make sure AEW wrestlers have a typical audience reaction and how it differs from a regular audience.  He said it's way better to have it in an empty arena that has a boiler room brawl feel.  Even with people all over socially distanced makes all the difference in the world.  It's not 20,000 fans being there but having your peers there making that energy helps so much.  Viktor Belfort, Vickie Guerrero and Dan Lambert were all in the crowd tonight.  They had people all over the building.  He feels like you are surrounded by your competitive teammates in the environment, like a high school wrestling team.

Moxley was asked whether there was more pressure tonight because it was a PPV vs. Dynamite.  He said 100% there was more pressure because if people are paying for a PPV, you have to make sure that they know it was good.  AEW is top of the line for PPV now and they are can't miss.  They have to keep it that way.  Every PPV has a Wrestlemania feel in the back for their locker room.  He tries to make things special every time there's a PPV.  He had a new jacket tonight.  You put in an extra effort when you ask the fans to pay money.  Personally, he was extra motivated.  He had wrestled Brodie Lee a ton before but they are each different now, so they wanted to give the audience something new.  How the match went is exactly what he envisioned it to be - a hail storm of violence.  It was a very satisifying feeling.  To only have a three week build and a triple main event, he had an extra chip on his shoulder when he went out tonight.
