WWE NXT'S SAMI ZAYN CONFRONTS ETHAN PAGE AND MORE: COMPLETE EVOLVE 50 COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-10-18 22:47:00

Andrew Everett vs. Peter Kassa

When they returned to live action, Lenny Leonard recapped the angle with Sami Zayn since can't air it.  He said the bout would air the weekend of 11/6 from Florida.

Everett and Kassa go back and forth with each other.  Everett seems to be the crowd favorite.  Kassa is built like a tank yet has exsquisite speed and agility.  They played a game of "Can you top this?" early trading springboard and aerial moves.  Kassa nailed a big overhead belly to belly suplexed followed by a big knee to the head.  Kassa controlled Everett readily in the ring and scored several two counts.

Everett tried to fight his way out but was taken out and nailed with a running shooting star press.  That was nuts given Kassa's size.  Everett nailed a missile dropkick, sending to the floor.  Everett charged across the ring and nailed a springboard corkscrew plancha to the floor.  Everett brought Kassa back to the ring for a two count.  He nailed a leaping kick off the ropes for another two count.

Kassa mounted a comeback but Everett nailed several kicks.  He went for a rana but was caught and dropped on the buckles.  Kassa nailed a lariat for a two count.  Everett escaped a charge and nailed a Pele Kick  He caught Kassa with a German suplex and bridged back for a two count.

Kassa avoids a charge and catches Everett with an Olympic Slam.  Kassa went for a 630 splash but Everett rolled out of the ring.  Everett covered him for a two count.   Everett went to the top but was caught.  They battled on the ropes in the corner.  Everett knocked him to the floor and went for a flying move.  Kassa avoided it and powerbombed him hard for the pin.

Your winner, Peter Kassa!

Very good match with both really showcasing their aerial skills.  Kassa, since he's built like Ivan Putski in his prime and moves like a Cruiserweight is going to be a catch for a major promotion down the line.  Everett looked really good as well.  If you like crazy flying moves, this one was for you.

Matt Riddle vs. Chris Dickinson

Riddle and Dickinson went at each other aggressively.  Dickinson drilled him with a KO kick to the head and said "Welcome to pro wrestling, b****."   Dickinson worked him over in the corner and nailed a hard chop.  Dickinson drilled him with a hard German suplex for a two count.

Riddle caught him with a double leg takedown and cinched in a heel hook.  Dickinson fought and made his way to the ropes for a break.  Riddle put together a nice string of offense and nailed a leaping knee strike for the pin.

Your winner, Matt Riddle!

The crowd wasn't buying Riddle beating Dickinson so easily.  Riddle looked OK in the ring and was obviously in his element doing the UFC spots.  He doesn't seem 100% comfortable in the ring as a personality yet and probably smiles a little too much.  He sort of reminds me of a Von Erich for some reason.

Drew Gulak and Tracy Williams came to the ring and put him over and said there was a lot they could learn from Riddle about MMA but there's a lot that he could learn from them.  They challenged him to face them in the ring during the Florida loop in November.  Riddle said, "Sounds good to me bro.  See you guys in Florida" and then walked out.

Gulak then challenged Willie Mack to come out and face him for their scheduled match.

Drew Gulak vs. Willie Mack

Lots of real good wrestling early here.  Mack nailed a series of suplexes and had Gulak on the run. Gulak came back with a shot to the midsection followed by a headbutt and a dropkick to the back.  Gulak went to the floor but was nailed with a pescado.  Gulak used the ropes for leverage while using the Dragon Sleeper.  He then went to the top with an awesome lariat off the top for a two count.

They battled to the ropes.  Gulak went for a superplex but Mack stopped it and slammed Gulak off the ropes, turning him in the process.  Great stuff.  Mack nailed several palm strikes but Gulak fired back.  They fired back and forth with some hard slaps and punches.  Gulak grabbed the anklelock.  Mack tried to fight it off but Gulak cinched it in.  Mack grabbed the ropes to escape.

Mack fought his way back and scored some big strikes and a big suplex.  He covered Gulak but only garnered a two count.  Willie locks in a Cattle Mutiliation but Gulak is able to escape and locked one on himself.  Mack escaped and nailed a series of elbows.  Gulak nailed some hard chops but was caught with a spinebuster for a two count.

Mack nailed a twisting corkscrew senton from the top and covered Gulak, who grabbed the ropes to save himself.  Gulak comes back with a fisherman's suplex.    Mack nailed a series of elbows and right hands in the corner.  He whipped Gulak into the corner and nailed him with a lariat as he came out of it.   Mack went to the top for a frog splash but missed.

Gulak locked in the anklelock and Mack finally tapped.

Your winner, Drew Gulak!

Gulak and Mack had a great match here with some great striking, transitions and chemistry in the ring.  Gulak is just an awesome well rounded talent and Mack is awesome.  How WWE opted against signing him, I'll never fathom.  Really enjoyable.
