UPDATED AT 10:49 AM WITH PARTS I SOMEHOW ELIMINATED LAST NIGHT: DAVE’S SURVIVOR SERIES BLOG

By Dave Scherer on 2014-11-23 23:00:00

The first ones out were Team Authority. They were followed by the respective team members. Team Cena is out next. This main will get some time.

They did a cool bit where the Authority team was in the ring and Team Cena came out one by one and waited on the floor for everyone to come out. Then, they went into the ring as a team. The bell rang and Steph and Austin stood on the apron with their team. Show and Henry started. Henry ran at Show and ate a Knockout Punch, 1-2-3. It’s 5-4 and H and Steph are worried.

The next big spot came when Ryback face off with Rusev. Ryback got the better of him and did Shellshock but Kane came in and it turned into a donnybrook. That allowed Rollins to come in and Curb Stomp Ryback out of site of the ref. Rusev then pinned Ryback. I don’t love what that does for Ryback, but it isn’t critical. It’s 4 on 4 and The Authority is in control.

The Authority then went to work on Dolph Ziggler, getting many near falls on him. He was getting abused until Zig managed to plant Rusev. Before he could be pinned, the Authority broke it up. Donnybrook time happened again. Rusev tossed Rowan and Zig onto the guys on the floor. He then went to work on the announce tables and dragged Dolph to the Spanish Announce table. He put him on there and then walked onto Cole’s table. He splashed the table but Dolph rolled out. Russell ate it. The count started. Dolph made it back to the ring. The Stooges couldn’t get Rusev back in time and it’s 4-3. The fans chanted USA.

Cena went to work on Kane and had him but Rollins ran in and hit a Curb stop on Cena. The ref did nothing. They should have had the one from the Ambrose match. … In the ring, Harper and Rowan event at it. Rowan hit a great spin kick. Kane got Rowan for the chokeslam, but Rollins hit a Driveby on Rowan and Harper pinned him. It’s 3-3. Then Big Show KO'd Cena, and the Authority pinned him. He went over and shook hands with HHH.

It's Ziggler vs. Harper, Rollins and Kane because Big Show left. And Ziggler is out. He needs some help. The fans know who, as they chant Randy Orton.

The Authority went to work on Ziggler and he was selling like he had no chance in hell. But he kept fighting and beat Kane with the Zig Zag! It’s 2 on 1. And the fans want Orton, trust me.

Harper went to work on Ziggler, getting a near falls on him. With each kick out, the fans popped. The fans chanted his name. They can make a star here. Zig popped up and pinned Harper. It’s down to Rollins vs. Ziggler. Eps just said this is great. He is right!

Rollins went to work on Ziggler. They traded near falls. HHH is going nuts at ringside. It has to come down to him going to help Rollins and Orton making the save, right?

Rollins went to the top and missed the Curb Stomp. Zig hit the Famouser but only got a two count. This is great. Finally, The stooges came into the ring. Zig git the Zig Zag. One, two the ref pulls out the ref. The Stooges attack Ziggler but he comes back and fights them off and throws them into Steph, who bumps to the floor. Rollins misses the curb stomp and Zig its the Zig Zag. Second official comes down but HHH takes him out. Off goes the coat. He goes to work on Ziggler. He hits the Pedigree. He puts the nearly dead Rollins on Ziggler. He calls for the ref and he gets one. Scott Armstrong. He is a ref for hire so Sting’s music hits and out he comes. He faces off with HHH, and after then hits the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting walked over to Rollins and reversed the positions, allowing Ziggler to beat Rollings and become the sole survivor for Team Cena.

Steph and H lost it in the ring, saying it can’t be over. Zig walks to the back and Cena comes out and hugs him, putting him over. Steph and H lost it in the ring for a while as the show hit the three hour window.

Overall, WWE did a great job tonight. Some guys were elevated, some were protected and we got a great reason to have people pay for the Network on 12/1 besides the show (the Austin podcast with Vince), we had an iconic debut in Sting (who got put over big as mattering since he laid out HHH) and they didn’t even have to use Randy Orton’s return. They set themselves up for a lot of good possibilities going forward. If you watched for free, you should pay for next month (if nothing else) just to reward them for tonight.
