EVOLVE Title Tournament Second Round: Chuck Taylor vs Sami Callihan

Callihan slips making his entrance to the ring and appears to hurt his ankle. Callihan's in a bad way and can't even stand, but tells the referee to ring the bell. Taylor baseball slides his leg right out from under him as soon as the bell rings and attacks the leg like a shark. Taylor, who is the EVOLVE wins leader and the #1 seed in the tuornament, takes his t-shirt off and chokes Callihan with it, then continues beating on him all around ringside. I can't quite tell from my vantage point, but it looks like Taylor is using a piece of the guardrail to attack Callihan. He rolls Callihan back in and gets a spinning toehold, Callihan kicks him off but eats a back elbow from Taylor, who now gets Callihan in the figure four. Callihan makes the ropes, and Taylor appears to have barely broken a sweat as he goes to the top rope for a moonsault. Callihan rolls out of the way and Taylor hits hard, then Callihan gets four straight overhead release suplexes. Taylor blocks a fifth and takes Callihan down with a fireman's carry, then transitions right into a half crab. He's on a lot of matches with that hold in the last year, Callihan nearly passes out but keeps the arm up on the third check by the referee, so Taylor lets go of the hold and rams Callihan's knee into the mat. Callihan hurts himself hitting a bicycle kick, then puts the boots to Taylor in the corner as the #1 seed covers up to take as little damage as possible. Taylor rolls Callihan up out of nowhere for 2 and goes right back to the half crab. Callihan somehow makes it to the ropes, he goes for the stretch muffler but Taylor easily escapes, Callihan spits at Taylor, and Taylor just punts his face off and covers for 2. Taylor goes for another moonsault but Callihan kicks his leg out and Taylor tumbles to the mat. Callihan hits a sitout powerbomb for 2 and gets Taylor right in the stretch muffler. Taylor desperately reaches for the ropes, but Callihan starts kicking Taylor in the back of the head and forces him to tap out.

Winner: Sami Callihan

Wow, I'm happy to see it, but I really didn't expect to see Sami get this far. They told a great story here, and now the question will be whether Sami is physically up to competing in the finals against either Ricochet or AR Fox.

EVOLVE Title Tournament Second Round: AR Fox vs Ricochet

These guys know each other real well, and though they were supposed to blow off their feud at the end of last year in DGUSA, it looks like they're back in the ring one more time after all. Ricochet goes after Fox right off the bell, drilling him with a charging dropkick in the corner. Ricochet snapmares Fox and gives him an indy kick to the back of the head, he runs Fox over with a shoudlerblock, then they go back and forth with Matrix-style athleticism and wind up at a stalemate. That doesn't last long, as Fox knocks Ricochet out to the floor with a Yakuza kick and then wipes him out with the flip kick. They go back inside and Ricochet knocks Fox out to the floor and takes him out with a dive, then they go back and forth like this, knocking each other out to the floor and hitting dives a couple more times until Ricochet comes out on top. He rolls Fox inside and covers for 2, Fox gets a quick cradle for 2 but Ricochet gets right back in control with a big kick. Ricochet gets Fox in a crucifix for 2, then slumps Fox across his shoulders for some kind of stretch and then walks over to the corner to repeatedly ram Fox's head into the middle turnbuckle. Ricochet goes to the top rope for a moonsault, Fox shoves him over the ringpost to the floor, then dives over the post himself and takes Ricochet out with a dive. Fox puts Ricochet on the ring apron and hits the top rope legdrop, then rolls Ricochet into the ring and covers for 2. Fox hits a twisting forearm in the corner, Ricochet hits a rebound Ace Crusher and a standing shooting star press for 2. Fox dodges a couple of charges from Ricochet and hits a springboard Ace Crusher for 2. Fox goes up top for a Swanton, Ricochet moves and Fox rolls through and hiptosses Ricochet onto the top turnbuckle, but Ricochet slips out and wheelbarrows Fox into a flapjack and hits a Regalplex for 2. Ricochet takes Fox to the corner and goes to the top rope, Fox trips him and goes for Lo Mein Pain, Ricochet blocks so Fox hits a couple of leaping kicks that knock Ricochet to the mat and comes off the top rope with a double kneedrop. Fox hits a running inverted senton in the corner, Ricochet catches Fox as he goes for Lo Mein Pain, and hits a super Regalplex for 2. Ricochet goes back to the top rope and Fox stops him again, he climbs up with Ricochet, but Ricochet kicks Fox to the mat and goes for the 630, Fox rolls out of the way and Ricochet hits the mat. Fox gets a crucifix and catches Ricochet for 3.

Winner: AR Fox

Well, I said the winner of Fox-Davis would win the whole thing, and I'm one match away from being right. Pretty much the kind of match you'd expect these two to have, though I think they could have done the finish two or three false finishes ago. Now Fox will face Sami Callihan, another man he knows very well, in the finals.

No DQ Match: Scott Reed vs Arik Cannon

Reed flexes at Cannon, Cannon considers doing some posing of his own but opts instead to just beat Reed up. Reed fires back and whips Cannon hard into the corner, but Cannon dodges the charge and suplexes Reed, then dropkicks him in the back of the head. Reed turns Cannon inside out with a clothesline, then snapmares Cannon and hits a back elbow for 2. Cannon suplexes Reed out of his shoes and makes a cover, but Caleb Konley comes into the ring and breaks the cover at 2. This is no DQ, so it's perfectly legal for him to hit Cannon with a Fameasser, which he does. The Scene puts a chair over Cannon's nuts and then hits it with a baseball bat, Reed puts his foot on Cannon's chest for a lackadasical cover and gets 2. Cannon fights back and superkicks the hell out of Konley, but Konley gets a springboard tornado DDT and then Reed puts the boots to Cannon and covers for 2. Reed chops Konley for no reason and I think it was supposed to be miscommunication, but it looked like Reed just chopped Konley, so they quickly got past that and got to Cannon beating the crap out of both men. He hits Total Anarchy on Reed, Trina Michaels comes into the ring to distract Cannon and allows Larry Dallas to run in and clip Cannon's knee. Now Reed, Konley, and Dallas are triple teaming Cannon until...UHAA NATION MAKES HIS WAY INTO THE RING. Dallas heads for the hills, Uhaa takes both members of the Scene out by bicycle kicking Reed and then press slamming Konley onto him. He hits standing moonsaults on both men, Dallas tries to clip Uhaa's knee but has no effect, so Trina Michaels tries to seduce him until Marti Belle runs in and beats the crap out of her. Trina and Larry Dallas head for the hills, Uhaa German suplexes Reed into next week, and Cannon hits a brainbuster for the win.

Winner: Arik Cannon

I kind of had a feeling this was where we'd see Uhaa. Great return for the big man, and a nice brawl. Cannon doesn't appreciate Uhaa's help though, he attacks Uhaa and gets suplexed to his doom for spilling the beer in the ring that caused Uhaa Nation to slip and injure his knee one year ago.

The final two matches are up next on Page 3!
