Rex Lawless vs. Travis Gordon

Big size disparity here with Lawless towering over Gordon.  He chased Gordon up to the top rope.  Gordon leapt up and hung from the ceiling. Yes, the ceiling.  It was pretty damn cool.  When he returned to the ring, he nailed Lawless and sent him to the floor.  He hit a dive to the outside.  Lawless took control on the floor and slammed him on the apron.

Lawless brought him back into the ring and worked him over, scoring several two counts.  Lawless nailed a low clothesline and scored a two count.     Lawless went for a powerbomb but Gordon turned it into a rana over the top to the floor.  Lawless went for a chokeslam but Gordon flipped over to his feet to evade.  He nailed a springboard kick and then hit a springboard slingblade for a two count.

Gordon went to the top, where he was caught with a big boot to the face.  Lawless nailed a big Fall Away Slam off the ropes for a two count.  Lawless went to the ropes.  Gordon slipped off and nailed a pair of superkicks, then hit a beautiful swanton bomb for a two count.  Gordon went for a sunset flip powerbomb to the outside but Lawless fought him off.  Gordon then grabbed him from the apron and powerbombed him into the barrier (I think, line of vision was obscured).  Gordon hit a DVD Driver and rolled through into a superkick for a two count. He went for a twisting move off the top but Lawless moved.  Gordon landed on his feet but was caught with a sit-down chokeslam for the pin.

Your winner, Rex Lawless!

Another good bout.  Lawless really shined here as the Goliath to Gordon's David.  Athletically, Gordon, a regular for Northeast Wrestling, may be the best pure athlete I've seen since RVD in his prime.  Just limitless potential there.  Lawless continues to improve and show himself to be very versatile as well.  Really enjoyable stuff.

NYWC Tag Team champions The Spirit Squad vs. The Hounds of Hell, Boo Sullivan and Bamm Sullivan with Stockade and Victoria Von Black.

Spirit Squad  (who won the belts two weeks back the challengers) tried to do a cheer before the bell but were attacked by the former champions.    The Squad took over on Bamm, tagging in and out as they worked him over.  Bamm finally tagged in.  There were some schenanigans involving the Squad.   Bamm missed a splash.  Mikey worked him over, asking the crowd to spell out his name with every kick.  Boo was able to attack him and worked over Mikey with kicks.

Bamm tagged in and nailed a flapjack for a two count.    Bamm locked in a bearhug.    He wore Mikey down, but Mikey finally fought his way out.  He finally made the tag to Kenny, who cleaned house. including a nice spinebuster on Boo.  Bamm hit the ring, but Mikey met him.  They nailed the double goozle on Bamm.  Kenny slammed Boo and went to the top for an Alabama Jam. Von Black got on the apron and distracted him, allowing Boo to throw powder in his face and roll up Kenny for the pin.

Your winners and new NYWC Tag Team champions, The Hounds of Hell!

OK match.  You could feel the crowd was a little burnt out from the last few matches.

Tony Nese vs. Alex Reynolds

They brought out Larry Legend to ring announce the main event.

Tony Nese vs. Alex Reynolds

Great ovation for Nese.  These two know each other well, so there was a lot of back and forth reversals and testing the other out early.  Nese muscled Reynolds over easily, but Alex slid to the outside to try and break the momentum.   Nese worked over Reynolds' arm.  Reynolds bounced off the ropes to escape and worked over Nese with a nice series of moves, finishing with a dropkick.  Reynolds worked over Nese's arm, but Nese drilled him with a big forearm.

Nese fired back with some explosive offense, leading to a huge pop and big "Nese" chant.   Nese picked up Reynolds for a suplex and dropped him across the top rope, then fired off the ropes with a big knee.   They battled back and forth with big chops.  Reynolds nailed a big high knee, followed by a boomerang clothesline for a two count.  Nese was tossed over the top but skinned the cat and used his legs to pull Reynolds over. He went for a dive but Reynolds avoided it by hitting the ring.  Reynolds was tossed out and Nese hit a dive to the outside to a huge pop.

Nese whipped Reynolds into the cage that was set up for Caged and Cuffed earlier.  He took Reynolds around ringside and "ssssh'd" the crowd before nailing a hard chop across Reynolds' chest.  He went to do it again but was thumbed in the eye. Nese came back and hit a double springboard moonsault for a two count.  Reynolds went to the floor.  Nese followed him on the apron and cartwheeled off to avoid a kick.  Nese went for a kick but Reynolds caught his leg and sent it over the railing, then  drilled him down.

Reynolds tossed him into the ring as the crowd began chanting "Nese" and kept working him over and scoring two counts.   Nese was choked out by Reynolds' second as the referee was distracted, then whipped hard into the buckles for a two count.   Reynolds nailed a neck hangman's neckbreaker for another two count.    He ripped at Nese's face.

They battled up to the ramp to the ring.  Reynolds charged Nese and was backdropped over the top into the ring.  Nese charged down the ramp and dove over the ring into a big tornado DDT.   Reynolds nailed a DVDR on the apron.  He tossed Nese in and scored a two count, then tossed Nese to the floor, where the second worked over Nese.

They battled back onto the apron.  Reynolds tried to go for a piledriver but Nese escaped.  Nese went for a move but was caught and powerbombed on the ramp.  He was nearly counted out but dove back into the ring at the last second.  Reynolds covered him for a two count and then proceeded to stomp the hell out of him in the corner.

Nese was placed on the top rope.  Nese fought him off and hit an insane missile dropkick.  Both men were down.  They fought to their feet.  Nese began drilling Reynolds with explosive kicks.  He went for a German suplex but Reynolds landed on his feet and nailed a double stomp. Nese grabbed an armbar but Reynolds grabbed the ropes to force a break.

Nese went for his one armed powerbomb but his back was too worn down.  Reynolds nailed a roaring elbow and drilled him with an awesome neckbreaker.  Reynolds locked in a crossface.   Nese escaped and went to the top but was tossed off with a back superplex.  Reynolds nailed a leaping kick for another two count.  They battled back and forth with punches on their knees and fought to their feet.

They each went for superkicked but ended up intertwined.  They fought with kicks, punches and drilled each other until Reynolds caught him with a head and arms Tazplex for a two count.  Reynolds went back to the crossface.  Nese broke free and they continued to back back and forth.  Nese cinched in a choke but Reynolds fought his way out.

Nese nailed a sit down reverse piledriver for a two count.  Nese went to the top but got crotched.  They continued battling until Nese finally caught him in the choke.  Reynolds tapped but his second distracted the referee who missed it.  Nese grabbed the second but was attacked by Reynolds.  He kicked off Reynolds and superkicked the second.  He nailed a big slam on Reynolds for a two count.

Nese went to the top but Mega hit the ring and shoved him off.  He grabbed Nese and went for a chokeslam but Appolyon hit the ring and attacked Mega, followed by John Silver.  This sparked off a huge brawl.   They all battled into the cage and there was a big spot where Nese dove off the top of the cage onto everyone.

Nese and Reynolds battled back into the ring.  Nese nailed a 450 splash but the second pulled the referee out of the ring.   Nese chased him into the ring.  He sent the second onto Reynolds.  Nese drilled the second with a sick tombstone.  He was caught with a big knee by Reynolds for a two count.  Reynolds got into it with the referee and nailed him.

Nese nailed the one arm powerbomb on Reynolds in the corner and scored the pin.

Your winner, Tony Nese!

Absolutely awesome.

They left nothing on the table here, at all.  Just a brilliant, physical match with all sorts of twists and turns  Great work that really spotlighted Reynolds as much as it did Nese.

After the bout, the locker room came out.  They played this really wonderful video tribute to Nese, showing clips from all stages of his career.

Shane from NYWC gave a really wonderful speech thanking Nese's family for being here and said that Nese has been the hardest working person since he was 15 years old.

Nese gave a long speech, thanking everyone from the NYWC management, Forge, John Cursie, Shane and Joe, thanking them for all they have done for him.  He noted that Joe put them through insane cardio and that he owes the Premier Athlete name to him.  He thanked everyone on the show, saying they have all meant something to him, with the exception of "this d****bag" Alex Reynolds.  He laughed and said Alex is his best friend in the business and said that they have wrestled over 100 times and can't think of one bad match.  He said that the next time they lock up, there's going to be a lot of people watching.

Nese said that he and Stockade hate each others guts, but he was the first person to welcome him and hang out with him in the business and said he will always be one of his best and first friends in the business.  He said that not just in wrestling, but his best friends in real life since before wrestling, Appolyon and Alvin have been wrestling each other in backyards before they ever got in a wrestling ring.  They talked every day about making it and they did.

Nese said he could tell a story about everyone but they would be here all night.  He shouted out his family for being at every show.  He said that his career had so many ups and downs.  He said his wife has been through all of it.  He said about a year and a half ago, his daughter had been a year old and he told his wife that he was being selfish for continuing to push and try and make it and he didn't want his family to go nowhere.  His wife told him that she would rather life in a cardboard box than to have him give up on his dream.  For her, he pushed one more time.  He kept getting no after no after no but she made him go one more time and that time, he got the one yes he was looking for.  He said should be a lesson for everyone trying to achieve something.  You can hear no all day long but all it takes is that one yes to make it all mean something.  He thanked everyone for supporting NYWC and asked them to keep doing so.  He said he would see everyone on "the big stage."

Just an awesome, emotional moment to close a hell of a show, one of the best NYWC has ever produced.
