COMPLETE COVERAGE OF AN EMOTIONAL NYWC TONY NESE FAREWELL EVENT: NESE VS. REYNOLDS CLASSIC, SPIRIT SQUAD, CAGED & CUFFED, BULL JAMES AND TONS MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-11-26 23:00:00

Tag Team Gauntlet to determine top contenders to NYWC Tag Team championship.

It started off with Eddy McQueen and Rick Cataldo vs. CJ Benson and Brad Benson.  Brad Benson was worked over for awhile before shocking Cataldo with a pinfall.  Cataldo and McQueen were great in their role.  Bensons do a surfer gimmick.

Next out were Anthony Lacera and Jesse Vane. Lacera hit a dive over the top on CJ.   Vane really shined with some great athletic moves.  The Bensons finally took out Lacera with a double team maneuver that saw Brad flipped over onto him by CJ.

Next out was Mike Verna and Blake Morris. Verna and Morris were real aggressive in the ring. The Bensons went back and forth with them.  Morris was caught with a black hole slam.  Verna was rolled up and pinned, although Verna had obviously gotten out of the pinfall.

TJ Maroni and Anthony Gangone were the next out, hitting the ring from the crowd and beating down the Bensons before stealing the win.

The final team was Mouse.    Mouse is this devious little tiny guy.  He got ripped apart early.  For some reason, he had no partner.  Mouse finally bit him on the leg.  Marconi tossed him in the air and nailed the nastiest looking stunner I have ever seen.  Gangone tagged in and continued the beating.  They continued to beat him,  but the Mouse kept kicking up.  Mouse finally caught Gangone with a sliced bread #2 was too exhausted to capitalize.  Bull James ran in and tagged himself in, to a HUGE pop and cleaned house.  He picked up Mouse and tossed him off the ropes for a Rocket Launcher!

Your winners and new number one contenders, Mouse & Bull James!

I am not a fan of tag gauntlet matches as I feel they burn me out, but this was done very well with just enough of a story in each segment without taking too much time,  Mouse did a hell of a job getting killed before Bull made the save. This was all really well done overall.

Cuffed and Caged Match: Alvin Alvarez, King Mega and Ultimo Maya vs. G.I.T. (Gangsta In Training), Iri$h and J-Redd.

There is a cage constructed against one of the walls of the NYWC Sportatorium as the key to winning is cuffing the entire opposing team inside the cage, which is filled with weapons.  J-Redd brought out his girlfriend, who was wearing a neck brace, as she had been attacked by Alvin's crew at a previous show.

Team J-Redd came out with a shopping cart full of weapons.   Jim Londos would be so proud.  Mega challenged them so they ran the cart down the ramp into him.  All weapons and brawling early on.   Mega nearly caved Iris$h's chest in with a hard chop.  Mega choked G.I.T. with a belt in the corner.  Mega hit a splash on all three in the corner and then grabbed all three for a triple belly to belly suplex at the same time.  That was pretty damn cool.

Maya whipped the hell out of everyone with the belt.  Team G.I.T went to the floor and grabbed Singapore Canes.  Maya used his own cane to disarm them and then beat the hell out of them with two canes at the same time.  Just brutal shots to the back.  Iri$h attacked him from behind and tore at his mask.  J-Redd and G.I.T. took turns beating him.

J-Redd hit a Van Terminator with a trash can on Maya.  Alvin, who has obviously lost a ton of weight and looked really good physically, killed J-Redd with a uranage as he charged.  A wooden pallet was set in the ring. Alvin went to do a moonsault but Redd rolled out of the way and he landed on the pallet, which now had a barbed wire 2x4 on there.  Ouch.

Team G.I.T. worked over Mega and tried to suplex him onto the pallet and the barbed wire but he reversed it and suplexed both over.  There was a lot of brawling and there was action inside the steel cage, which is set to my right on the opposite side of the entrance ramp, so it's hard for me to see with my sight line.  Maya was cuffed to the cage. Mega went to the floor and worked over Iri$h and G.I.T.  He grabbed them by the throat and chokeslammed them into the cage wall.  He cuffed them both to the cage.

J-Redd dove onto the cage and swung across, kicking Mega down.  Mega was cuffed.

Alvin beat down Redd with a cane and said he was done with this.  He pulled Redd's girlfriend into the ring.  Redd had a chain and told Alvin to be a man, not a p***y.  He shoved the girlfriend at Redd.  He consoled her and told her to leave the ring.  He grabbed Alvin, but the girlfriend dropped down and lowblowed Redd, then kissed Alvin.  Betrayal!

Redd was beated and taken to the cage and cuffed.

Your winners, Alvin Alvarez, King Mega and Ultimo Maya!

They really beat the hell out of each other here.    Really well done execution in terms of building the drama and with the turn at the end.  Lots of hard work and guys really suffering for their craft here.

During intermission, J-Redd and his partners were released from the cage.  In some great attention to detail, they began throwing all sorts of weapons down in frustration as they went to the back, getting a big round of applause.

JT Kasin vs. Angelo Andrews with Crusher Doogan

Kasin wanted to do a Mannequin Challenge and they had a camera man running all over, including backstage.  When he returned to the ringside area, Andrews attacked Kasin from behind, beat him down and choked him out.

Your winners, Angelo Andrews!

Creative way to do a squash and keep some sympathy on Kasin.

John Silver vs. Joe Gacy vs. Randy Summers (with Brandon Watts) vs. Appolyon vs. Mike Orlando

Orlando and Summers started off, going back and forth with some nice reversals.  Summers dropkicked him out of the ring.  Gacy drilled him into the corner and nailed a big dropkick.   Silver entered the ring and kept Gacy off balance.  He whipped out big Beale Throws on everyone until Appolyon faced off with him.  Silver tried to come off the ropes but was caught and slammed down.

Apollyon drilled Orlando with a big spinning kick.  Summers drilled away at him with right hands but was shot into the corner.  He fought off Appolyon and nailed a big dropkick.  Summer and Silver had a great back and forth exchange.  Gacy came off the ropes with a springboard double stunner for a two count.  Orlando nailed a German suplex and charged him in the corner, taking him down for a two count.  Appolyon cleared the playing field.  He set up Summers for a superplex.  This led to everyone getting involved for a big Tower of Doom spot.  Summers came off the top with a double stomp on Appolyon.  Silver hit a spitting sitdown powerbomb on Summer for a two count. Gacy pulled Silver off as he went for the pin and throttled him through the ropes onto Orlando and Apollyon on the floor.

Orlando grabbed Summers and went for a move but Summers slipped behind him and rolled him up for the pin.

Your winner, Randy Summers!

Real good bell to bell match if you are an action junkie.  Everyone looked good.  Appolyon remains one of the most underrated guys in the Northeast.  This was the best I've seen Orlando look.  Silver is just awesome and ready for the next level.  Gacy looked damn good.  Summers is really one to keep an eye out on.  Good stuff all around.
