Charlotte, defending the WWE Women’s Title, against Natalya in a Submissions match, is next.
Ric Flair can't be at ringside or even in the crowd, so he gives Charlotte props in the back before the match. Natty out first, then the champ.
The match started with Charlotte doing a lot of Ric-isms. She doesn’t need to do that, but what do I know? Natty is in control early. And I mean really in control, laying a beating. And then, Charlotte came back with a boot to the face.
The champ then went to work. She hit a beautiful moonsault but Natty came back with a great suplex and locked in The Sharpshooter. Charlotte got to the ropes but Natty pulled her off. Then Ric Flair’s music hit. Someone not Flair came out in a Flair robe. It’s Dana Brooke. She came down and faced off with Natty, which allowed Charlotte to attack her and put her in the Figure 8. She was in the middle, so she tapped out.
Ric then came out and celebrated with Dana.
So now, it looks like Natty gets to be the veteran that works with Dana while Charlotte moves on to next. The finish was eh, but the feud wasn't exactly wonderful to begin with.
This show, overall, has been really good.
AJ Styles vs. Roman Reigns is up now. Big pop for AJ, Roman pop for Roman.
New Jersey fans embarrassed me a bit chanting “You Can’t Wrestle” at Reigns. Yes he can, don’t be dummies. It’s OK to not like him being pushed really hard, but don’t lie in your chants.
They went at it hard early, leaving the ring and brawling in the crowd. Fans chanted Roman sucks, when he clearly was not sucking. Whatever.
When they got back to ringside AJ threw Roman into the post. He then took the padding off of it and the floor and set up for the Styles Clash, but Roman fought out. They got on an announce table but Roman fought out before he could lay him out. But when AJ came back, Roman backdropped him through another announce table. Despite how good it was, the fans chanted you still suck at Roman. Sorry NJ, someone sucks, but it’s not him. Roman took him in the ring and got a two count.
Roman got a two with a Razor’s Edge into a powerbomb. Dumb and Dumber chanted, “you still suck”. I want to turn the volume off. Jeez. Reigns went for the Spear but AJ nailed him in the knee with his shoulder. AJ hit a snap suplex into the corner. Roman came back with a head shot into the post and a sick powerbomb through a ringside table. Dumb and Dumber left because they ain’t chanting now. This is great. Reigns called for the spear on the floor, and they booed, but he missed and went through the barricade. This match is awesome.
AJ went up top for the forearm but Reigns nailed the Superman punch. Roman is selling the knee. AJ is dead. And then, out come The Club to attack Roman, and damn do they. But AJ only gets a two! Out come the Usos. They aren't dead after all. They lay out AJ. Both men are down. Reigns crawls over to cover, TWO COUNT ONLY!
Roman nails both Club guys and sets up for The Spear but he eats a boot. STYLES CLASH! Two count only!
AJ gets a chair. He goes for the Styles Clash but Roman does a backdrop instead. Fans boo. Shut up fans. AJ hits the Clash on the chair. But Use pulls him out. He goes back and only gets a two. This is great. Really great, like why I love wrestling great.
AJ went to work with the chair on Roman and the Usos. AJ set up for the Phenomenal Elbow but got the Spear as he came off of the ropes. Roman gets the pin.
And then, as Mike Johnson intimated here earlier today, Seth Rollins returned and hit The Pedigree on Roman, laying him out after the match. He grabbed the Title as the fans chanted Holy Feces. He held it up and they popped.
As you probably can tell, I loved the hell out of this match. Rollins return was great too.
I also loved this show. It was tremendous.
