The New Day make their way to the ring
Xavier welcomes everyone to Payback. One tag team will have the opportunity to become number one contenders to their WWE World Tag Team Championships.
Kofi says they want to watch this from ringside. They get in some Beyonce references and Xavier hits on Beyonce.
Big E says times are a changing and it is a new era in WWE because New Day Rocks.
After the opening video package, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady make their way to the ring. They do their usual introduction. Enzo says the Vaudevillains think they are going to win, but if his aunt had hair, she would be his uncle. He tells them to hop in their DeLorean and go Back to the Future. Colin says you come out flexing like you're Arnold . . . more like Hey Arnold. They are going to tee off on your football heads. They shouldn't have stepped off the stoop. Enzo says there is no elevator to success so you have to take the stairs. They took the escalator. Enzo says they should have tied their shoes because they are stuck down stairs. Colin says there is one word to describe them and he is going to spell it out.
Match Number One: Number One Contender’s Tournament Finals (Sponsored by Booty-Os): Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady versus The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch)
Enzo and Simon start things off and they go to a test of strength and Enzo with a monkey flip while they hold on to the knuckle lock. Simon bridges on a cover and Simon with an arm ba. Simon with a side head lock and shoudler tackles. Enzo with a drop kick and Aiden tags in and Enzo tries for a drop toe hold but Aiden stays on his feet. Colin tags in and Aiden backs up. English with punches but Colin with punches in the corner.
We see The New Day snacking while watching the match.
Enzo tags in with some jabs and then Colin tags in and Enzo is thrown into Gotch when he tries to interfere and then he send Enzo into English. Colin sends Enzo into English for a cross body and a near fall. Enzo runs into knees in the corner and Enzo goes down. Gotch tags in and he sends Enzo into the ropes and Enzo's throat hits the bottom rope. The referee checks on Enzo at ringside and the referee holds him back.
The official brings out the doctor as the referee signals that there is an injury.
Officials check on Enzo and the official stops the match as a stretcher is brought to the ring.
Referee Stoppage
We see the Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens video package.
Michael Cole announces that Enzo was taken out on a stretcher due to his injury.
Match Number Two: Sami Zayn versus Kevin Owens
Owens comments on the fans chanting for Owens and he lectures Zayn. Zayn with a forearm and they go back and forth. They go into a hockey fight and Owens with a knee. Zayn sends Owens to the floor and Zayn with a plancha onto Owens. Zayn pulls the cover off an announce table. Zayn Irish whips Owens into the ringside barrier. Zayn rolls Owens back into the ring and Owens goes to the apron and he drops Zayn on the top rope. Zayn with a leg lariat and he gets a near fall. Zayn punches Owens . Zayn leaps over Owens and then hits a head scissors take down. Zayn is sent to the apron by Owens. Owens with a knee and then Owens pulls Zayn off the apron. Owens sends Zayn into the ring steps.
(Michael tells us that Enzo is moving his extremities after being taken to the back)
The match continues and Owens sends Zayn into the steps again. Owens kicks Zayn in the head and then they return to the ring. Owens gets a near fall. Owens with a kick to the back and then he kicks Zayn in the chest. Owens with a chop and he gets a near fall. Owens with kicks and then it is time for the Headlock Master to go into action with a reverse chin lock. Zayn wtih punches and forearms but Owens with a kick and then he drops Zayn on the top rope and Zayn falls to the mat and Owens follows with a back senton for a near fall. Owens stands on Zayn's head and then Owens has a message for Cole. Owens with punches but Zayn with forearms. Owens with a back elbow but Zayn with a clothesline and both men are down.
Owens with a kick but Zayn with a clothesline that flips Owens. Zayn with punches in the corner as he climbs the turnbuckles and he does not stop at ten. Owens with a kick to the head but Zayn wtih a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Zayn tries for a Blue Thunder Bomb but Owens with elbows. Zayn is able to hit the Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Owens with a package shoulder breaker for a near fall. Owens with a frog splash for a near fall. Owens with a running clothesline into the corner followed by a cannonball. Ownens with a second cannonball followed by an attempted pop up powerbomb but Zayn with a drop kick. Zayn with a half nelson suplex but Owens pops up with a clothesline and both men are down.
Owens and Zayn both with forearms and both men are staggered. Owens with a knee but Zayn with a victory roll and a near fall. Zayn with a wrist lock and he goes to the turnbuckles for an arm drag but Owens counters with a back breaker. Owens and Zayn go to the apron and Owens says something to Zayn. Zayn and Owens exchange punches. Zayn runs into a boot and Owens tries for a power bomb on the apron but Zayn blocks it and counters with a back body drop onto the apron.
Zay with a suicide dive into a tornado DDT through the ropes in the corner. Zayn sends Owens back into the ring and he sets for the Helluva Kick. Owens with a super kick and pop up power bomb for the three count.
Winner: Kevin Owens
After the match, Owens slaps Zayn and throws Zayn over the top rope. Owens tells Byron to get a microphone and bring it into the ring.
Owens tells Byron to stand in the center of the ring so they can get his good side. He wants Byron to ask him about beating Sami Zayn. Byron asks if the rivalry is over. Owens says that is not what he wanted Byron to ask him, but he beat Sami Zayn. Kevin says he beat Sami and finally put to rest the question people have been asking for fourteen years. Kevin Owens is the better man. Kevin says he is not done. He has proven he is the best. Now he can refocus and get back his Intercontinental Championship.
Byron asks who does he think will win since the match is next.
Kevin says that since the match is next, he will do commentary with Byron.
Match Number Three: WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Miz (with Maryse) versus Cesaro
They lock up and Miz with a wrist lock and Cesaro gets out of the hold. They lock up and Miz returns to the arm. Cesaro wtiha reversal using kip ups and Cesaro with an arm drag into a near fall. Cesaro with a dead lift side salto for a near fall. Cesaro with a side head lock. Miz goes for a leap frog but Ceasro with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker for a near fall. Miz is sent into the ring post. Cesaro goes for the Gorilla superplex but Maryse grabs the leg and Miz with a kick followed by a double sledge from the turnbuckles and boots for a near fall. Miz with a wrist lock and he uses his shoulder to add more pressure to the arm. Miz with a suplex for a near fall.
Miz with an arm bar. Cesaro wtih punches but Miz with Reality Check for a near fall. Miz continues to work on the arm but he loses focus to pose. Cesaro with a shoulder and sunset flip for a naer fall. Miz with a sleeper and he climbs on Cesaro's back. Miz gets Cesaro down to the mat. Miz adds a body scissors for more leverage. Cesaro is able to get out of the sleeper but Miz holds on and Cesaro powers into a dead lift vertical suplex. Cesaro with European uppercuts to Miz. Cesaro connects with nine before five Irish whips and European uppercuts. Cesaro with a drop kick for a near fall. Cesaro sets for the Gorilla suplex but Maryse distracts him. Cesaro hits the Gorilla superplex for a near fall.
Miz with a boot but he misses a second time and Cesaro with a rollup for a near fall. Cesaro with a springboard European uppercut. Miz stops the Giant Swing and Miz goes for the DDT but Cesaro counters into the pop up European uppercut but Miz gets his foot on the ropes. Cesaro sets for the Gotch Style Neutralizer but Miz counters with a back body drop. Cesaro lands on his feet and Ceasro wtih a back slide. Cesaro goes into the ring post shoulder first and Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale and Cesaro kicks out.
Zayn attacks Owens at the announce table and Zyan with a clothesline taht sends both of them into Yeatonville.
Cesaro with a spinebuster and giant swing. Cesaro wtih a Crossface and Owens and Zayn get on the apron and the referee does not focus on the match he is refereeing and Miz taps out but the referee did not see it. Owens and Zayn fall to the floor and Miz with a rollup and a handful of tights for the three count.
Winner: Miz
After the match, Cesaro with a European uppercut to Miz and he brings him into the ring. Owens takes care of Cesaro and hits a Pop Up Power Bomb on Zayn. Maryse pulls her husband to safety but Owens has the Intercontinental Title in his hands.
