Ashland Craft sang America The Beautiful, with all of the talent out on the stage watching. She did a good job. We have a flyover and pyro. Very cool.
We got the same opening recap segment that we had last night. Then, it was a ton of pyro. Lots of close together fans, many of whom are not wearing masks. So much for pods. We have Titus O’Neil and Hulk Hogan coming out to greet the fans. They are dressed like pirates. It was schlocky.
Michael Cole is once again filling in for Tom Phillips. Uh oh. There are lots of stories going around on Tom. They may be true but until we can confirm, we will stay away from that.
We are opening with The Fiend and Randy Orton in whatever it is they will be doing. It looks like a match instead of a movie. Good move, don’t give the paying fans TV to watch. Orton is out first. He took his time getting to ring and when he got there, pyro. That was a bad omen last night.
Speaking of bad, them recapping this goofiness reminds me how little I was looking forward to this match. Hopefully they keep the goofy stuff to a minimum.
Fiend came through a tunnel where they did some special affects to change his outfit. That was cool. Alexa is out first looking, uh, special. She looks like she enjoys playing the character. There is a box at ringside so the Fiend thing was a video. It’s a big jack in the box. She will turn the handle and out he will come. Yep, cool entrance. He flew off the box into the ring and attacked Randy. We are getting the red light. I hope it’s not for the whole match. Damn, it is. Randy is working over Fiend and he keeps coming back. Orton is viping now. He went for the RKO but got the Claw instead. He went for Sister Abigal with the ring posts spit fire. Alexa os on the top of the Jack In The Box with black stuff going down her face. Fiend reached out to her and Orton his the RKO for the win. I have no idea what I just saw.
They stared at each other after the match and the lights went dark. When they came on, they were gone. Sounds like some boos in the crowd.
Bayley is in the back with Hogan and Titus. Easy E is there too. She puts E over. He wants Bianca Belair on his podcast. Bayley says what about me. Why they are humiliating her, I have no idea. Then again, they problem think they are putting her over.
Natalya and Tamina are now getting their shot at Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax’s tag titles. After watching Chris Jericho on Steve Austin’s podcast today (it was great by the way) and hearing him say how he chose to leave WWE after he and Kevin Owens were put in the worst spot of Mania, the second match, I wondered who would get put here tonight. Now we know.
The challengers got some stuff in early. They had Nattie pair off with Shayna and Nia with Tamina most of the time, which made a lot of sense. Tamina kept making the mistake of trying to slam Nia. She ended up getting body slammed on the floor. Shayna took out Nattie’s leg and the champs went to work on her, she didn’t have a partner but Nia missed a spear in the corner. Natty made her own comeback and got a two with a clothesline. They had Natty out when Tamina suddenly appeared and made the save. She got a two with a Samoan Drop on Shayna. She went up for the splash but Shayna kicked her. Natty made the save so Nia splashed both of the and got a two count. Now she is selling her knee a little. The crowd is chanting for Tamina. Never thought I would hear that. Nia just told Tamina she ain’t sh**. She runs this. She is cursing. What do you got. Slap to the face, bodyslam on Nia, kick out at 2.9. This is pretty good. The crowd is popping for Tamina. She went for the splash but missed. Natty tagged in and locked on the Sharpshooter on Nia bt she didn’t realize that Shayna had made the tag. She came in from behind and locked the Clutch on Natty. She passed out. Champs retain. I can’t believe I am saying this but that match was really, really good. I enjoyed it a lot.
