Asuka takes on Rhea Ripley for the Raw Women's Title is next. I hope this is as good as it has the potential to be. Turn them loose and let them do what they can do. Rhea is getting her entrance performed live. Cool. Some fans are chanting for Rhea. We need new stars Vince. Let's make one.
Someone just asked me what the Texas line meant. THE STATE GOT RID OF ITS MASK MANDATE. Is it really that hard to follow current events? That was rhetorical. Big pop for Asuka. She is on the offense early on, as she should be. But then the challenger got control and was nasty about it. It didn't last long. They are going hard back and forth. Lots of carnage including a stiff DDT by Asuka onto Rhea from the apron to the floor. It's a fight and very even.
In the end, Riptide by Rhea gets the win. Two nights in a row made pros helped make a successor. I love it. Great stuff.
Rhea mugged with the belt after the match, as she should.
Bayley gets to come out with the hosts. Uh oh. She asked for pyro and she got it. They pyro was for the Bellas, who beat her up. Yay. I don't mean that.
The next PPV will be WrestleMania Backlash on May 16. I will be three time zones away for that one. Hoo Ha!
Anyone reading this knows how I feel about they have done to the characters of Edge and Roman leading into this. But the flip side is with Daniel Bryan, they have created the chance for a great moment. It could be the older version of the Boyhood Dream for Bryan. They have booked this so that nearing the end of the line, they can tell an amazing story and send the show off the air with everyone losing their minds and amazing pyro. Edge wins? Eh, he went from being a face to a whiner. Roman wins? SOS. Bryan wins? The roof that isn't there comes off. Speaking of which, out he comes. Big pop. The story is that he should win. They have messed up the stories with him in the past. Will they learn from their mistakes of the past?
Edge got pyro. It should mean he loses. They had a lot of noise during his entrance but he got a good reaction when he got to the ring.
Roman? Well he came out with Paul E and Jey Uso and they hate him, this time for the right reason. He got pyro too. Hmmm....
Damn Roman got pyro again when he hit the ring. Could it be a red herring to make us think he will lose?
Good pop for Edge on his intro. Better pop for Bryan. Roman got a mixed reaction. Fans are happy to be there.
Roman went after Bryan first. He tossed him to the floor where Uso took him out. Then he did it Edge too. Will Uso cost Roman the Title later?
Lots of plunder early. Edge is destroying Uso. He must be reading the blog. It looks like medical personel will take Uso out. Yep, but he could come back. Roman is down. It's Edge vs. Bryan in the ring. Roman is back. A lot is going one, suffice to say.
We have an Awesome chant. Love it. It is. It's great.
Bryan locked on The YES. Heyman is losing it. Where is Edge? Right there.
Roman regained control when he powerbombed Bryan on Edge. Then he put Bryan through the announce table but got wasted by Edge. Everyone is down. This is really good. This Mania has been so much better than I expected. When they give me low expectations, that is a good thing. Weezy is into this too.
Edge has a Crossface on Reignsm where is DB? Edge just used a piece of the chair. He is close. There is Bryan, who stopped Roman from tapping. He adds a Yes lock. So DB and Edge are headbutting each other. This is really good. Weezy has literally rooted for all three guys at different times.
Edge speared both guys and had Roman pinned but DB pulled out the ref. This is so good and why I will always love wrestling.
Edge set up both guys for Conhairtos. He hit DB by Jey returned before he could get Roman. That allowed Roman to come back. Hi hit a Conchairto on Edge, put him on Bryan and pinned both.
I was loving it until the finish. Then, the air went out.
They all worked hard and it was heading toward a good place and instead they gave the crowd the finish that they didn't want. And what makes it worse is that without Use, Roman loses. That isn't a WrestleMania main event finish to me. They should have ended the first night with this and closed the show with Bianca vs. Sasha. Overall, it was solid but last night was much better.
Pyro hits as we end the evening.
