COMPLETE WWE BATTLEGROUND 2015 PPV COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-07-19 19:06:15

They showed the developments in the Divas division from this past Monday on Raw introducing Charlotte. Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks to the main roster.

JoJo interviewed Stephanie McMahon backstage.   She said that in one night, she changed the face of the Divas division.  McMahon said that you haven't seen anything yet.  She said there's been lots of great wrestling in St. Louis, dating back to Sam Muchnick.  She said that each Divas team has been asked to send a representative into a Triple Threat match tonight.

WWE Tag Team champions The Prime Time Players vs. The New Day

New Day cut a pretty good promo coming out talking about how they never lost their way after losing the titles.   Woods said that they did lost the belts at Money in the Bank, but you sometimes have to lose in order for you to win.  Big E. promised they will be successful and be the new champions.   E said that today is not just any other day...it's a NEW DAY.  We all walked into that one.

Kofi Kingston and Darren Young started out and battled back and forth.  Titus and Darren controlled the match early until Young was taken out and double-teamed.   Young was worked over, including a splash on the apron by E.  E locked in an abdominal stretch.  Young fought his way out of it, but was cut off for a two count.   Young finally came back with an enziguiri, setting up a hot tag to Titus.

O'Neill cleaned house on Kingston and E, looking good in doing so.  O'Neill nailed a splash in the corner.  Woods drilled him in the back from the outside.  Kofi worked him over but was cut off with a shot to the gut while coming off the ropes.  Young tagged in and nailed an overhead suplex on Kofi, then drilled Woods when he tried to interfere.

Kingston nailed Woods as he returned to the ring after dispatching Woods.  E tagged in and went for the Big Ending but Young avoided it.  He nailed a Gutbuster on Kofi, who bounced out of the ring.  O'Neill nailed a spinebuster on E and scored the pin.

Your winners and still WWE Tag Team champions, The Prime Time Players!

Another good match.  Nothing ground-breaking amazing but it was solid.

Backstage, Paige said she's been wanting change for Divas Division for months and now that Charlotte and Becky Lynch are here with her, she's so excited.  Lynch said they should tear the entire thing down and build it back up.  Lynch said they are even putting the Superstars on notice.  Charlotte said they are going to do it...with flair.

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

It was all Roman early on.  Wyatt took control and drilled him with a big clothesline.  Wyatt nailed punches and kicks.   He sent Roman into the ropes and drilled him with a bodypress as Reigns rebounded back.  He continued working over Reigns until Roman came to life with a running clothesline.  Reigns knocked him out of the ring to the floor.  He nailed the apron dropkick on Wyatt.

Wyatt cut off Reigns and beat him with a series of right hands in the corner.   He nailed a DDT on the apron outside the ring.  Wyatt cinched in a side chinlock and had it on for a long time.  Reigns finally escaped and slammed Wyatt.  He made a comeback with several clotheslines and a leaping clothesline.  You could hear a mixed reaction for him.

Reigns nailed a suplex on Wyatt.  Wyatt worked him over but Reigns came out of the corner with a powerbomb as Wyatt was beating him.  Roman scored a two count.  The word is fine but you can tell this is a Wyatt crowd.  Roman teased the Superman Punch and was booed.  He went for it but missed.  Wyatt went for Sister Abigail, but Roman was sent to the outside.  Wyatt followed but Roman nailed him with the apron dropkick.

They battled back into the ring where Wyatt nailed a Uranage for a two count and scored with a series of right hands.  Roman drilled him with the Superman Punch out of nowhere, but couldn't get the pin.   Roman set up the spear but was kicked right in the face as he charged.  He tried again but was killed with a stiff clothesline for a two count.

Wyatt went for Sister Abigail but Roman powered out.  Wyatt scored with a series of headbutts.  Roman responded in kind.  Wyatt was drilled into the corner and nailed with a series of clotheslines.  Roman picked up Wyatt, who nailed him with a series of elbows.  Reigns dropped him backwards into something of a Samoan Drop.  Wyatt rolled to the outside.  Reigns followed.

Reigns was caught coming out and sent into the barricade.  Wyatt rolled him back into the ring and grabbed several steel chairs.  Reigns intercepted him and drilled him with a punch before he had a chance to use them.  Reigns tossed several chairs into the ring.  As he went to return to the ring, Luke Harper, wearing a hoodie, attacked Reigns.  Wyatt nailed Sister Abigail and scored the pin.  The announcers are playing it up as if they didn't know who it was for a big reveal.  When Harper revealed himself, they were shocked.

Your winner, Bray Wyatt!

OK match.  There was a lot of hard work but I really felt like something didn't click here.  I liked the idea of Harper and Wyatt back together.

They showed several St. Louis Cardinals who just arrived after playing 18 innings today.

Jojo interviewed BAD. She asked if they had problems deciding which of them would be in the ring tonight. Naomi accused her of making trouble. Sasha Banks is in the match. She said that if you want to know why she's the boss, just watch her.

Sasha Banks vs. Brie Bella vs. Charlotte

Nikki Bella teased she was going to wrestle.  She got in Charlotte and Sasha's faces, then decided "Not tonight" and told Brie to enter the ring instead.  There were a lot of quick near fall attempts until Banks and Charlotte both decided to turn their attention to Brie.  Sasha tried to make a pact with Brie but it was a ruse.  Brie caught her going for a kick and Charlotte nailed her.

Charlotte and Brie grappled.  Brie was sent to the floor.  Sasha and Charlotte faced off.  Charlotte was sent into the corner and did the Flair Flop to the outside.  She nailed a forearm but Brie pulled her down to the floor.  Sasha and Brie battled.  Sasha went for the double stomp in the corner on Brie, who was laid up on the ropes.  Charlotte tried to prevent it but was set up as well and Banks did the double stomp on both.

Sasha continued to work over Charlotte and "woo'ed" at her to mock her.  Banks continued to control Charlotte and scored several two counts.  The crowd chanted, "NXT!"  Banks drilled Charlotte with knees to the corner.  Brie returned to the scene and they exchanged punches.  Charlotte drilled them both with a double clothesline and began unloading with chops.

Charlotte nailed a neckbreaker on Banks but was kicked off as she charged in the corner.  Banks was kicked in the mouth as she went after Charlotte.  Brie nailed several clotheslines and dropkicks on Charlotte.  The crowd booed all her offense.

Bella nailed a double bulldog on Charlotte and Banks, scoring two counts on each.  Brie began nailing the Daniel Bryan signature kicks to the chest of each.  Charlotte charged Brie with a spear.  She and Banks went back and forth with a lot of hard fought action and exchanges.  Banks appeared to be busted open as there was a trickle of blood on her face.   Brie came back with a double missile dropkick.  Brie nailed running knees to the face of each, but when attempting another, was dumped to the floor by Banks.

Nikki and Alicia Fox tried to help Brie but were surrounded by everyone else who was working the corners.  Brie was sent off the apron, knocking Team Bella down.  Sasha Banks hit a dive to the outside.  Charlotte then hit a slingshot pescado to the outside.

Charlotte placed Brie on top of the ropes.  Brie nailed her but was caught with a leaping forearm.  Sasha nailed Charlotte with the Bank Statement and cinched in the submission.  Brie grabbed Sasha and slammed her into the ringpost.  She grabbed Charlotte who slammed her down and locked in the Figure Eight.  Brie tapped.

Your winner, Charlotte!

A good, hard fought match but if you've seen what the NXT women do on the Takeover shows, you know this hardly scratched the surface.  Brie worked as hard as she ever has in the ring to keep up with the NXT girls and this was a marked improvement from where the Divas division was even a few months ago but you can tell there's a changing of the guard here and a lot of the established players are going to have to step it up.  When Banks and Charlotte were in, the fans were far more into what was going on in the ring.

Word from the show is they are adding MizTV with Big Show to the broadcast.

WWE United States champion John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

I heard that Kevin Owens' family came in to see this bout.
