NXT had two of the three matches of more than ten minutes and for the first time since the first week of the year, every match on an individual show was more than ten minutes long. The last time was with Ring of Honor and only two matches.
If you take away the fact that Daniel Bryan and Sheamus had two matches on Smackdown this week and combined the totals, they would have had the longest match of the week at twelve minutes.
For the first time in six weeks, we had to go to a two minute match to get a third short match for the weekly totals. It was not a lost week for the one minute matches because Raw became the first show to have one hundred one minute matches. Smackdown is the only one over fifty and is twenty-two away from hitting the one hundred barrier.
Smackdown continues to lead the pack for ten minute matches and has a four match lead over Ring of Honor in the race for one hundred. The last three matches from NXT were more than ten minutes and the next one will be the thirtieth for NXT. Ring of Honor had its second straight week without a ten minute match and now has an average of one ten minute match per week.
The totals were the highest since the start of March and were well above average. If the weekly average is met next week, we will break the fifteen thousand minute barrier, and it will be a squeaker. Impact passed twenty-nine hundred minutes this week.
Next week could see Raw pass three thousand minutes, Smackdown pass thirty-two hundred minutes, NXT pass sixteen hundred minutes, and Superstars pass twenty-three hundred minutes.
NXT had its three hundredth overall match while reaching one thousand minutes for Season Five (assuming we are still looking at the season concept). We are also a few weeks away from having the total number of matches for season five eclipse the totals for the first four seasons combined.
At the end of the column, I will take a brief look at the totals for the first four months of the year.
The wrestling times below cover the wrestling that takes place during the show so commercials are not included. All times are rounded to the closest minute (examples: a 4:23 match will be listed as 4 minutes while a 4:32 match will be listed as 5 minutes and anything under a minute is rounded up to a minute).
