TAMMY SYTCH SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS IN PRISON

By Mike Johnson on 2023-11-27 09:08:00

The State informed the Judge that two family members wish to speak before the Court.

Ken Lasseter, Julian's younger brother, spoke.  He said that he was 12, his brother taught him how to dress and after the passing of their father, Julian became his father figure and stayed there in that role until Julian's passing.  If you talked to the residents of the condo where he lived or the cabin he owned, everyone would tell you what a great guy he was.  He kept himself fit and maintained his friendships all through life.  Everyone spoke highly of him.

Laseter read something Julian wrote to Ken's wife Lynn.  I love and respect you for being you.  You inspire me to be a better person and I am inspired by you.  I love that you are in our family and I need to visit more because I appreciate you and your feedback.  Thank you for loving my brother.  I really admire you and all you have accomplished and the person that you are.

Ken said the defendant could have used a friend like Julian in her life and it's unfortunate they never met.

He said that his brother was 75 years old.  It would be ironic if she received the maximum sentence because that would mean Sytch would be the same age upon release as the age Julian was when "she killed him."

Julian Lasseter's daughter Whitney Lasseter-Hill took the stand to make a statement.  She read a prepared statement, thanking the Judge for allowing her to tell the world what a huge loss it has been for her family.  No one should have to experience an officer ringing a doorbell at 2 AM asking for her, and asking for her to sit down in her living room.  He told her his father was tragically killed in a car crash.  She looked for her husband, who was doubled over on his knees.  The police left and there was no one to call and nothing to do.  Telling her children what happened was the hardest moment of her life.  Their rock was no longer with them.  Her father was a man of God and loved life and was her biggest cheerleader - and was that for everyone he knew.  He told her every morning it was going to be a great day today while waking her up, playing James Brown in the background.

Later, it was calls and emails telling her what a great person and mom she had become.  His mission in life was to help each person be the best person they could be.  He would bring flowers to the nurse and receptionists when he went to doctors appointments.  He had a weekly prayer session with a 90 year old couple that took place for 20 years and he didn't miss it because they counted on him.  He knew they all needed the prayers.  He served on the Board of Halifax Urbab Ministries and spent time with her son making sandwiches to give the local homeless.  He loved Daytona and spent 40 years helping those in need, including those in recovery houses getting over addiction.  He would say, "Life is good and I'm on God's plan."

Julian had big plans for the next 25 years of his life and was healthier than most of those in the room.  He wanted to go to college with his kids like Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School, which got a big round of laughs in the courthouse.  He was at all the kids' games and concerts.  He even took them to WWE Smackdown events.  He loved being the anchor of the family.  No one knows how to live without him and they still don't want to learn that.  He would have seen his grandchildren graduate college, see them drive for the first time and be able to tell everyone how much he loves them.

Whitney turned her attention to Sytch.  She said that 25 years isn't long enough punishment for what her selfishness took from the Lasseter family but she hopes that the court gives Sytch the maximum because she didn't learn from her past actions.  Her kids made that trip with Julian so many times and it could have been them too.  She asked the court to prevent another family from living through the nightmare they are in and said that Sytch doesn't deserve a SEVENTH chance.

The statements from the family were extremely powerful, especially Julian Lasseter's daughter.
