ACTION Wrestling “To The Moon!”

5/14/21 - 9pm

Tyrone, GA

ACTION’s May double header continues with the show that Matt Griffin named after a meme (and then stacked an awesome card on it). Scott Hensley is your announcer. Dylan Hales and Johnny Mosely are your commentary team.

Match 1: Timmy Lou Retton vs AC Mack

Your Former ACTION champ is here to fire up the room. He says this isn’t for a belt. It’s not a blood feud. They respect each other but they’ve never fought before. AC Mack is clearly excited for this matchup....but that doesn’t mean he isn’t dripping confidence. Retton is in Mack’s house and AC is keeping control early. Retton with a backflip counter and a little wave before his a flying kick for stun Mack. Mack throwing some strikes but Timmy getting the better half of that exchange. He gets him Mack’s face, who comes back with an uppercut and clothesline. Mack dropping stomps and pulls Retton up for the Mack-10. Retton with a back drop and aloud double chop leaves Mack limp in the corner for a handspring elbow. AC dodges a standing shooting star. Retton to the outside and Mack hits a pair of dives. “This is his house” chants the crowd for Mack. Mack with a poisonrana! Two count! Mack with a meteora! Retton rolls through and hits a buckle bomb into a blue thunder for a near fall! Timmy Lou to the top (the mooooon?) but Mack intercepts for a superplex. Both guys are toast and the crowd cheering for them both. AC loading up the Mack-10 again but eats a elbow. Mack and Retton trading elbows and chops. Mack stuns Retton and hits a double stomp to the knee. Mack ties up the legs as Retton is screaming for his legs but he gets the rope. Mack wraps the legs again. ”JUST TAP!” But Retton gets the rope again. Retton hits a high knee and screams in pain. Retton hits a spin out backbreaker and is hobbling himself to get these near falls. Mack catches Retton on the top and hits a Mack-10 off the second rope to get the definitive pin.

JEEEEEEEESUS. This match was really good. The sheer primal screams from Retton as he abused his own knee to work over Mack. Great opener. <chef kiss> Mack puts Retton over on the mic before transitioning to talk about his championship belts that he lost last year....they will be coming home. But he needs to talk about the upcoming Scenic City Invitational tournament....he is VERY confident that he’s going to win this. This brings out Adam Priest, still nursing his broken arm after his encounter with Matt Makowski in Tampa. Mack tries to cut him off but Priest tells him to “Hush”. Oh my. He’s salty that no one checked on him or cared that he was injured. Mack tries to cut him off but Priest hits a lariat, Mack fires back and blasts Mack with his surgically repaired arm (complete with new steel plate) and leaves the Mack of All Trades laying. What a great kick off in this opening segment!

Winner: AC Mack

Match 2: Logan Creed vs Joshua Bishop (w/ Wes Barkley)

Bishop makes sure the crowd still hates him before locking horns with the big man. Bishop is able to headlock Creed to the mat but Creed uses his long limbs to counter out of it. Creed with his own headlock takedown, proving he can wrestle too. Both guys frustrated and going for their big moves but they are countering their way and resort to a forearm battle. Wes grabs the leg of Creed but eats a boot. Bishop uses the distraction to take Logan down and grind him with a choke. Creed makes space with an album and lands a big boot for two. Bishop picks up Creed and hot shots him on the top rope, Wes uses a distracts to choke Creed further. Bishop with a headlock but Creed back suplexes out of it. Bishop back with a belly to belly for two and follows up with some loud chops. Creed gets some of a curbstomp but comes running into a boss man slam. Both guys staggered, trading chops, forearms and headbutts. Logan hits a choke breaker and that should end it but Wes pulls out the ref. Creed is distracted and Bishop germans him. Bishop hits a coast to coast from OPPOSITE CORNERS and a DVD for two. Creed hits a rolling DVD, pulls Wes in to eats a double running dropkick. Creed with the full Nelson facebuster lays Bishop down for the count. Solid match here. Bishop was overpowering Creed for a lot of this but the Heathen is just a FORCE in this ring right now. As Creed celebrates, Scott Hensley announces that at ACTION’s next show on 6/25 it’s gonna be: LOGAN CREED vs ARIK ROYAL for the ACTION Championship. Can the ACEGAWD give Creed his first L in Tyrone? GIMME THIS.

Winner: Logan Creed

Match 3: “Braindead” Kevin Ryan (w/ Suge D) vs “The Pitbull” Brett Ison

The Good Hand is back in the house after taking down Brett Ison and Cabana Man Dan in Tampa. KOBK refuses to let this lie. “He’s gotta catch you” coaches Suge at ringside. Kevin lands a forearm to the back of the head and Ison just absorbs it as he grabs Kevin for a series of forearms, knees and a boot wash for two. “This isn’t what we talked about!” Says Suge as he tries to get life back into his protege. Ison gives chase and lays him some vicious chops and clubbing blows at ringside. Ison getting distracted by Suge, allowing Ryan to hit a blockbuster to the apron. Suge rolls Kevin into the ring as the ref makes the ten count. Ison up in time and Kevin Ryan with a series of dives to drop the Pitbull to the concrete. Big frog splash back in the ring and Ison kicks out. Kevin Ryan with forearms butIson wakes up. Ison gets him up in a torture rack but Ryan reverses into a flatliner for a pin attempt. Brett wrenches the ankle and hits a cutter with a stack pin for two. Ryan occupies the ref  while Suge lands some big shots to the Pitbull’s ankles. Ryan needs to stop throwing forearms because Ison keeps waking up and doing terrible things to this kid. Big slam and a knee to the face. Ison with a powerbomb for two and transitions to an ankle lock. Suge helps Kevin get to the rope as the crowd chants “Break his leg!” Ison tries a german but Kevin lands on his feet. Big kick to the back of the head and Ison grabs the rope to break the pin. Ison stuns with kicks and heads up to second. Ryan intercepts but Ison gets him up and hits a burning hammer off the ropes. Kevin Ryan is DONE. The Pitbull laid a beating on this kid, despite Suge’s tactics. Before hooking up with Suge, Kevin Ryan had a series of matches where he took absolutely brutal beatings. This would have felt right at home in that series at moments. Suge gets in Ison’s face after eats a punch to the face as Cabana Man Dan’s music hits. We’re going right into it!

Suge works a sleeper, Dan slams back into the corner to break it but eats a series of punches and chops for his trouble. “I hope you’re all enjoying this at home” (yes, I am!). Suge takes Dan up to the top but CMD with a swinging neckbreaker takes them down for a two count. Both guys are exhausted and trading shots. CMD with a flying headbutt to the jaw, Suge dodges Surfs’ Up and rams CMD’s head into the top buckle several times before hitting a Blu-Ray for the thr——Dan kicks out!! Suge is tired of this BS and grabs some chairs. He gives Dan a chair and we’re getting a bar fight! Trading shots until Suge kicks him back through the chair. Suge comes swinging, Dan dodges and SUge eats the rebound. CMD with Surf’s Up and comes down on the edge of the chair!Suge down for three! Suge will have plenty to say about how he lost here but hats off to CMD for getting this emotional win over a longtime nemesis.

Winner: Cabana Man Dan

Suge is laughing in the ring as the ref tells Suge he lost. Suge takes his belt off and beats the ref with it and his own shiny shoes as Matt Griffin protests and begs Suge to stop. Suge is frantically pacing and threatening to kill the CEO as he hits a piledriver on the ref, who whimpers in pain as he’s dragged from the ring. “Add it to my tab, Matt” says Suge as he walks out the front door of the building. Angelus Layne hits the ring and ambushes Matt Griffin as he sees Suge off! Layne throws him in the ring and slaps him. He slaps back! These two swinging for the fences with slaps and forearms. Angelus levels him with an uppercut and running knee. Layne says she was coming to apologize but she’s done with the disrespect (as a person who has DEFINITELY never set a promoter on fire or broken someone’s neck) and buries the mic into his chest before storming out. Loved all of this.

Main Event: Jaden Newman vs JD Drake

Matt Sells is brought out as a special guest ring announcer for this match where JD Drake is acting as his proxy against Sells’ longtime rival Newman. Drake says he’s not willing to be Matt’s proxy unless this is a NoDQ match. Sells says it’s a great idea since everyone hates Jaden Newman. Newman tries to get in Drake’s face, saying he made this a No DQ match because he’s scared. Drake lands a stiff forearm and Newman runs for cover. Newman sent flying back in and Drake is beating him pillar to post. Newman tries an out/in to catch Drake in the chase but ends up dropping an elbow to the apron. WHOOPS. Newman with a series of useless chops into JD’s chest and he gets whipped into a stiff lariat. Drake knocks him off the apron into the stage area. Jaden trying to fight back but Drake with kicks and chops to beat the f*** out and crumble number 1. Jaden tries a ddt to the apron but Drake throw him into the ropes and hits a forearm on the rebound. Newman throws into the chairs. “YOU HAVE TO KILL ME” screams Newman in Drake’s face. JD goes to oblige but ends up chopping a chair and Newman goes to work on his choppin’ hand. Newman tries a cross arm breaker and then wrenches the arm on the rope. Drake tries a corner cannonball but misses, snap german from Jaden for two. Jaden torquing the arms of JD but he breaks free and destroys Jaden’s chest with a big chop....but at what cost? Drake with an atomic drop, slam, falling headbutt combo before a belly to belly/Vader bomb for a two count. Rebound lariat to the back of the head and Jaden crumbles from a running knee....kick out! Newman dodges the kill shot lariat, series of counter, eats the lariat anyways and a cannonball for two. Drake goes up but Newman powerbombs him down. Newman caught in a meteora, Drake hits a spike DDT and Jaden is down for the three. Hard fought win here from Drake, who put a big beating on Newman. Newman is consistently getting into these beat down scenarios but he always looks like he might find a way out of danger with the W. Good stuff and a big damn fight!

Winner: JD Drake

And that’s it for “To the Moon!” The second half of ACTION’s double header brought ALL of the story beats to the table. Where the first show gave us a lot of really good ACTION, this show set the table for the months to com. Mack has beef with Adam Priest now. The Good Hand suffered their first setback but they are definitely not DONE. How does Newman get one back against Matt Sells? Angelus Layne is clearly back on the warpath with Matt Griffin in her sights. And most importantly, Logan Creed is getting his shot at the champ!

5 solid matches, a lot of storytelling and a hype crowd made up this 2-hour block. Another great show from ACTION! Check it out on IWTV when it hits VOD! ACTION’s next show is on 6/25! Until then!
