DETAILED 4/9 ALLIE KAT'S REAL HOT GIRL SH... REPORT FROM GCW'S THE COLLECTIVE IN TAMPA, FLORIDA

By Adam Cardoza, Shannon Walsh & Cory Strode on 2021-04-09 14:16:00

Cory Strode's report!

Allie Kat's Real Hot Girl Sh**

After an intro by the ring announcer, they pull back to show...um a few scattered people around the ring.  It's an outdoor venue, and you could say it is sparsely attended. Sam Laterna & Billy Dixon are on commentary this morning.

“Thick Mama Pump” Jordynne Grace vs “AK-47” Allysin Kay

The announcers let us know that both of these women have held the Knockouts championship. No story to this match and no heel/face work, just a fifty fifty match. Felt like a standard TV match, well done, but nothing special to it. Allysin Kay wins with a back pile driver, holding on to the legs of Grace for the three count.

Your winner: Allysin Kay

“Not America’s Sweetheart” Davienne vs. “That 90’s Chick” Erica Leigh

Erica is wearing multicolored gear that seems more 80's than 90's, but she tries to get the crowd going and cheering.  The announcers say this is a dream match.

OK.

The story of the match was the powerful Davienne dominating the smaller, faster Erica. Davieanne worked heel, talking back to  the ref and fans, dominating the match with Erica getting a few flurries of offense.  Davienne hits a baseball slide into Erica, who was lying next to the ring post and the announcers put over that she went throat first into the post.  Erica is pulled into the middle of the ring and covered for the three count.

Your Winner: Davienne

There are a few more people trickling into the seats, and the announcers put over that it is HOT there.  Being in Minnesota, I don't know if I remember what hot feels like.

I also think that Billy is trying to set a new record for saying the word “shit”, currently held by the famous episode of South Park where they kept track of how many times it was said.

Brooke Valentine vs. Willow Nightingale

Brooke comes to the ring with an angry rap song, dancing and shouting at the crowd, while Willow comes out all smiles.

They shake hands to start the match and the announcers let us know they were a tag team last night, and they did NOT win the tag team championship last night. Early in the match, it looks like Brooke slipped on a cartwheel and the match stops for the ref and Willow to check on her.

As they go to help her from the ring, she attacks Willow outside the ring, and Brooke does a cartwheel to show that she is fine.  Brooke then beats down Willow outside and then inside the ring. Willow is able to fight back from underneath and win the match with a moonsault from the top, covering for the three count.

Your winner: Willow Nightingale

The match was slow paced, and the swerve in the middle actually worked for me. I liked that the announcers told the story that Brooke may be mad that they lost last night and was using the match to get revenge.

Holidead vs. Dark Sheik

Holidead is the first wrestler on the card I know, and I have liked her work in the past. Dark Sheik is introduced as a member of a faction called the Church of Wrestling when she comes to the ring.

Announcers put over that both women are dangerous.

The story of the match is that Holidead is stronger than Sheik, but Sheik is more experienced and knows more about wrestling holds and reversals.  They also brawl outside the ring more than the other matches, and Sheik works with the crowd, getting them into the match. Once they get back in the ring, they work hard, keeping the story moving until Holidead gets a facebuster and cover for the three count.

Your winner: Holidead

A longer, well done match that  had a clash of styles, which made it more interesting.  Both of them worked hard to get the crowd into the show. The announcers put over that they are both bizarre, but they didn't show that during this match.

There are also more people around the ring.  After the match, they shake hands and hug. Through the matches, Billy has been swearing constantly, while Sam is going out of her way to stay PG.

Edith Surreal vs. Lady Frost

Edith looks to be about half a foot taller than Frost. Much like the first match, this is a fifty fifty match, neither one really working heel. The announcers put ove that Frost has worked with WWE and AEW despite being less experienced. Edith gets a surprise victory by trapping her arms and rolling her up for a three count.

Your winner: Edith Surreal

They hug after the match. This match suffered from a few miscues and having people getting into place for big moves. A comedown after the previous well worked match. Crowd is much larger than it was at the start of the show.

Tasha Steelz (w/ Kiera Hogan) vs. Trish Adora

Tasha refuses to shake hands with Trish. We also see that Trish TOWERS over Tasha. They start the match with mat wrestling, which is a nice contrast with the other matches. It's mostly an even match, with Tasha and Kiera working together so that they can gain an advantage over Trish. Tasha is able to win with a falcon arrow into a pin.

Your Winner: Tasha Steelz

Evenly matched through the majority of the match and Tasha won clean, despite using heel tactics in the middle of the match. Both women looked good in the end.

Allie Kat vs. Billie Starkz

They shake hands and the announcers say that Kat has more experience, but they have history as Billie started as a fan. They work both inside and outside the ring and neither one has a concrete advantage as they work. As the match goes on, Billie shows that she's green with some awkward setups and pauses before moves.

TO end the match, Allie locks in a Boston Crab and does a full back bend, going all the way back with her head on the mat behind Billie.  Billie taps.

Your Winner: Allie Kat

The announcers tell us good afternoon and the ring announcer goes down the upcoming cards for GCW over the weekend. We are then told it is time for Faye Jackson's Grey Sweatpants Battle Royal. Faye comes to the ring, arm in a sling.

For this Battle Royal, our announcers are Tasha Steelz and Janelle.

Faye announces two people will go into her Hall of Fame.  For 2020, she names Too Cold Scorpio, and for 2021, it will be Shad Gaspar.

She then gives the rules for the battle royal, and it will be more of a Royal Rumble, and the winner gets a trophy and a well, toy.. So, they are classy like that.

1: Ice Williams (replacing Chris Bey)

2: Kenny Bengal

Looks like the Hot Girl portion is over, and it's a male crew for the battle royal.  They announce  special enforcers: Billy Dixon, Saharan Seven, Estrella & Jordan Blade. Tejana is the official twerker.

They start with a standard lock up and other moves, and the clock starts after about a minute for the next person.

3: Keith Mack

He gets in a pair of stink faces before the next person comes in.

4: D-Rogue

Everyone in the ring waits for him to show and he gets in a move on each person before our next person.

5: Devon Monroe

Again, everyone stands around as he gets in the ring and he does a butt shake entrance move.  We finally get to where people are trying to throw each other out of the ring.

6: Mr. Darius Carter

Darius is in a 3-piece suit in this sun rather than wearing sweatpants, so I guess the gray sweatpants are optional. He grabs a mic and puts himself over as Wrestling's Richest Prize. He and Faye go face to face and he asks what she will do when he wins the match. Faye says he can't win wearing a suit.

7: Montana Black

He comes out before Darius is in the ring. Darius and Faye are still shouting at each other with people keeping them apart. Faye yells at them to get in the ring. Everything stops again as Montana gets in the ring. We get our first elimination as Devon is out as action starts.

8: Daniel Garcia

He enters the ring, does the worm and joins in trying to toss people out.

9: KC Navarro

He runs to the ring and starts helping shove someone out of the ring.

10: Mysterious Q

Faye stops him before he gets to the ring and says that he can't be in the battle royal with a mask. He takes it off, he's thanked and no one tells us who it is under the mask.  Casey is eliminated.

11: PB Smooth

Darius finally gets in the ring as PB is tossing condoms to the crowd on his way to the ring.

12: JTG

JTG comes out with a version of his WWE music and joins the battle.

13: RICKY SHANE PAGE

The announcers say he's the most hated man in wrestling. A number of people team up to stomp his down as he gets in. Keith Mack puts on a sock to attack Darius and keeps it on to strike people around the ring.

14: Lee Moriarty

Lee shows up wearing tan pants, so he's not following the rules/  PB Smooth eliminates Keith Mack. Four guys take advantage of a pause in the match to dance for the ladies. Looks like someone dropped in a pile of one dollar bills. Ricky Shane and his friends grab the money and eliminates himself.

15: Hoodfoot Mo Atlas

They say he's wearing the longest do rag in America, and it looks as if he has a blue cape. Thankfully, he leaves it outside the ring. Ice Williams is eliminated.

16: Funnybone

He has horror based music as he comes out and skull face paint. Montana Black is eliminated and the camera seems to miss it.  Funnybone has a staple gun and Darius is out of the ring.

17: SUGE D

He comes to the ring with a Bible. Darius is using the staple gun on Funnybone outside the ring and Suge is using a Bible as a weapon. Hoodfoot gets,  D-Rogue and PB Smooth are eliminated.

18: Eel O’Neal

JTG eliminates Kenny Bengal. Mysterious Q is eliminated. Darius is stapling dollar bills to Funnybone in the middle of the ring. Funnybone gets the staple gun and staples Darius in to crotch and eliminates him. Moriarty is eliminated by the official twerker.

19: JAZZ

Eel is eliminated by Jazz. Suge gets in Jazz's face and she gives him a beat down. They battle around the ring and Suge is able to eliminate Jazz. Faye calls for a time out and gets in the ring. She calls for the enforcers to eliminate him.

We're down to three. Looks like the announcer made a mistake saying Q was tossed, since he and JTG are in the ring with Daniel.

Looks like we're in for another dance break, but JTG attacks them before the dance starts.

Q is eliminated by Daniel and JTG working together.

JTG eliminated Daniel after they fought on the apron.

Faye asks JTG to take his sweat pants off so she can auction them for charity. He strips down to boxer briefs and Faye thanks everyone for showing up.

The commentary for the battle royal is AWFUL.  Too loud for the microphone so there is massive distortion, and it felt more like sitting  behind a pair of fans than people telling us what was going on in the ring.

Overall, the Hot Girl portion was a decent enough indy show. The commentators need work, and Billy in particular should tone down the swearing, since it added nothing to his commentary.  They tended to go silent when things got active in the ring as if they were just watching the show.

The work was decent for an indy. None of the matches were great, but none of them were train wrecks either. The best way to describe it that I watched Shimmer a couple of years ago for PWInsider, and they are a step up from this show, but it felt more like one of the local shows I would see here in Minneapolis at a small venue with people from the local wrestling school, working their first matches. The audience for this appears to be limited by the sparse attendance early one

The battle royal had a lot of comedy spots for the crowd, who seemed to know the people in the match, but the announcers did next to nothing to put over who the characters were and why they were doing what they did.  Felt a lot like a local crew putting on a show for their fans, not like they are putting on a show for the people who don't know them.  And the announcing was more like sitting next to a couple of loud fans.
