WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: IC TITLE MATCH, TITLE MATCH NEXT WEEK DURING THE DRAFT, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2020-10-02 22:00:00

We begin with a look back at the main event from Clash of Champions.

We are in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring with his special counsel Paul Heyman.

Paul says you will have to forgive him this evening because he is a bit nervous.  Paul says he has known this man and his entire family since the day he was born and I always looked forward to this actual moment because we all knew this was destined to happen.  We are all here to officially declare Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief.  Not just the tribal chief of his family or Smackdown or WWE, but the tribal chief of the entire WWE Universe.  That is why it is necessary that Roman is your undisputed Universal Champion.

Paul says let's set the stage appropriately.  From Peter Maivia to his uncle Afa to his father Sika . . .

Roman takes the mic and he does not want you to call me or acknowledge me as the Tribal Chief because he didn't acknowledge me.  His brother did, but he didn't.   Roman says he wants Jey to come out.

Jey Uso makes his way to the ring.

Jey says I don't know you.  You are supposed to be my cousin?  My blood?  My Family?  At Clash of Champions, you showed your true colors and so did I.  You beat my ass, but you didn't break my spirit.  I was ready to go to war and if Jimmy hadn't thrown in that towel, the title would have been mine.

Roman asks Jey if he is proud of what he did.  Clash of Champions, that was the worst night of my career, professionally and personally.  Do you think those were my intentions going into the match?  I was trying to do a favor and help you.  All I was trying to do was put your name in the main event and have it on the marquee.  I wanted you to have that big payday for you to do something for your wife and kids.  I love you more than your brother.  You have been there my entire life.  All I wanted to do was raise you up.

All you had to do was acknowledge me.  All you had to do was say the words to acknowledge me as the tribal chief.  This is my birthright and I have earned it.  All I wanted was to represent our family to the fullest and put you in the main event.  What did you do?  You disrespected me.  You embarrassed me and our family.  You broke my heart.  Even now, as i am spilling my guts to you, you can't look at me in the eyes.  All you are doing is looking at the title.  Do you want another shot?  You got it.  Do you want it at Hell in a Cell?

This match will have the highest stakes that any match has ever had in WWE history.  Roman hugs Jey and he whispers something to Jey.

Jey stops Roman at the top of the stage.  He says whatever the stakes are, you are on.

AJ Styles makes his way to the ring,

He asks Jey if it is over.  Does it matter who sits at the end of the table and has the most chicken bones.  What matters is that you matter to AJ Styles.  I don't want to see you take another beating like you did on Sunday.  Give someone who is more qualified to go for the Universal Championship.  Let Roman be the Tribal Chief.  Sacrifice a goat if you want.  We know that your older brother is the better athlete and you can be the runt that you have always been.

Jey attacks Styles and they go to the floor and Uso hits a splash off the announce table.

We go to commercial.

We take a look back at the Intercontinental Title Ladder Match from Clash of Champions.

Sami Zayn is in the back and he says you would expect him to gloat about winning one of the greatest ladder matches and being the undisputed champion.  Tonight is a whirlwind of emotions.  At the top is resentment and anger.  The risks that he had to take to get what was his all along, it made him angry.  At first it was aimed at WWE Management, but it is all of you for going along with the ride.  None of you said anything when his status was stripped and then you went along with the tournament.  When AJ won the fraud championship, you accepted it.  When AJ lost to Hardy, you accepted it.

Sami says he is the only one with principles.  He will do what they should have done with the sham championship.  He will put it where Jeff Hardy's dreams are going to go.  The belt is going into the trashcan of history.

We go to commercial.
