WWE RAW REPORT: ORTON TALKS ABOUT HIS MATCH, APOLLO VERSUS OWENS, THE 24/7 TITLE IS BACK WITH ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER, FLAIR VERSUS ASUKA, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2020-06-01 23:00:00

We are back and Rey Mysterio joins Tom, Byron, and Joe via satellite.

Rey says his eye is still recovering and he does not know when he will or may return.  It depends on how fast he can recover.  Rey says if an infection sets in, it could be the end of his career.

Joe brings up the retirement ceremony from earlier tonight and Joe asks if Rey is retiring.  Rey says he does not know.  He says he might be cleared to compete in a few weeks or it may never happen.  Rey says it is an answer he does not know now, but it is a question he has been thinking about.

Joe asks about the ceremony from earlier tonight.

Rey says that Seth carries a lot of negativity and that can be a burden.  To say that he was chosen as a sacrifice?  Seth chose him and attacked him.

Dominic shows up and says that Seth is not a messiah.  He isn't even a human being.  He says someone from this family has to do something about it.  He tries to end your career and now he says that he had to do it.  Dominic says it is a bunch of BS.

Rey says he wants to thank everyone for their concern.  It means the world to him and his family.  Rey says you are looking for a statement about that ceremony.

Rey tells Seth DAMN you for everything you have put him and his family through.  They all helplessly watched as you pushed his eye into the steps as blood ran down your face.  They saw the man who provides for them suffer.  How can you go around and say that he cried like a baby when the cold steel met his flesh.  Rey says he is a man of forgiveness but he will never forgive Seth for what he did.

Rey leaves the room and Dominic tells Seth you are a man of scripture and an eye for an eye.

Nia Jax says she did not start this.  She has been repeatedly attacked by Asuka and Kairi.  Do not believe the hype.  They are not what they seem.  It is all smoke and mirrors, just like Asuka's championship.  She didn't earn it.  She was gifted it because of hormones.  Becky felt so guilty that she couldn't wrestle that she gifted it to you.  Nia says now she is the aggressor in this but she is the victim.  She will show Asuka as the backstabbing charlatan that she is.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at the 24/7 Title situation.

We go to Foxborough, Massachusetts where Rob Gronkowski is getting ready for a Tik Tok video.  There is a gardener in the yard who might or might not be R Truth.  His friend is in a referee's shirt and Truth gets a rollup for a three point.

We take a look at what Edge said last week to Randy Orton.

Randy Orton is standing in the back as we go to commercial.

We are back and Randy Orton is still in the back.  He says for the past few months, he has woken up, had some coffee, and caught up on the WWE Network.  He has been watching the Last Ride, 360, 24, and even Ride Along.  Everyone thinks Ric Flair is the greatest ever.  Randy says he agrees.  Last week, he saw Ric Flair on Raw, and Ric said in his opinion Randy Orton is the best to lace up the boots.  Randy tells Edge you said the same.  You know what else you said?  Two weeks ago, you told me I didn't have a passion for the business and that I was handed everything and did it for the paycheck.  You said I was complacent.  You are right.

You can't stand that in twenty years I have phoned it in and half assed it and I have accomplished more than anyone in the locker room.  You scratched and clawed and pretended to be the heroes from your childhood.  I just had to come in and lace up my boots to prove I am the best.  At Backlash, I will prove that I am better than you.  I set the bait and you bit.  Now your storybook ending will be rewritten by the three most destructive letters in sports entertainment.  R . . .K . . . O.

Charlotte Flair is in the ring and she tells everyone to respect their NXT Champion.  She says she will defend her title in a Triple Threat Match against Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley.  Those two women are who you aspiring NXT superstars want to be.  You share the gym, the locker room, and this performance center.  She says she wants you to be the next Rhea Ripley or Io Shirai.  She wants you to stand up to the throne so you  can bow down.

Speaking of bowing down, she knows a woman who has a history of bowing down.  That is the Raw women's champion, Asuka.  Asuka was the first Royal Rumble winner, the longest reigning champion, and a Grand Slam Champion.  It seems like the Empress wants to be like the queen.

Asuka's music plays and Nia Jax comes out wtih an Asuka mask.  The referee calls for the bell.

After the match, Nia with a running shoulder tackle to Asuka.

Charly Caruso is with Lana.

Lana asks about MVP's match with Drew McIntyre and Lana's relationship with MVP and we see what happened earlier on Raw.

Charly asks if it was Bobby's idea to keep her from ringside or was it MVP's idea?

Lana says she is not sure.  She says she is certain it wasn't her Bobby's idea.  Lana says her Bobby requested she not go out to the ring during his matches, but never said anything about MVP's matches.  Lana chortles as she walks away.
