MAIN EVENT TIME, GOOD LUCK FOLLOWING THAT MATCH, BALOR VS. OWENS: GET YOUR POPCORN READY, TIME TO ADMINISTER LAST RITES TO KOFI, BELLA VS. PAIGE VS. TAMINA, JERICHO VS. NEVILLE - FULL WWE BEAST IN THE EAST BLOG

By Dave Scherer on 2015-07-04 10:17:00

They showed Hideo Itami and ringside.  They presented flowers to the participants, as is the custom.  Owens threw his in the aisle, great heel move.  The streamers are flying.  Balor got a huge pop.  Owens got booed.  Time to clean up the streamers and start the match!

Balor started strong, going to town on Owens.  The announcers referenced that Balor used to as Prince Devitt.  Damn! … After working Owens over on the floor, Balor went back in the ring and it’s on. … Owens got control and was playing total heel, and doing it well.  He was even holding back on doing moved because he “hates this country and everybody in it”.  It was great commentary he was doing during the match. … Then Owens started mocking Cena, doing his spots on Balor.  He went for the AA but Balor got out of it and dropkicked him.  They went back and forth until Balor hit a kick to the head of Owens.  KO charged but Balor pulled the rope down and Balor did a jumping sexton over the top.  The fans chanted NXT.  Balor started rolling.  He went to the top and went for the stop but Owens moved.  KO got a few near falls.  Man this is fun.  The fans chanted this is awesome.  Balor his Slingblade and went to the top but KO got up and head butted him.  But Balor hit a kick to the head when KO taunted the crowd.  Balor got a two with the double foot stomp from the top.  They fought in the corner.  Balor got KO seated on the top turnbuckle and when KO went to dump him, Balor hit a kick.  Owens did a Fireman’s Drop from the top, getting a two.  DAMN! KO went to the top and did the senton but Balor got the knees up.  Balor dusted KO but only got a two.  KO did an I have no idea what and got a two.  This is great.  Owens then slapped Balor in the face and said “You can’t beat me”.  KO went for the pop up but Balor hit a clothesline and did a double stomp to the face on a sitting Owens, then went to the top and hit the Coup de Gras.  1-2-3, new champion.

This was an awesome match.  My son-in-law never saw either of these guys and watched it, and loved it.  Take note of that WWE. … It makes perfect sense to get the NXT belt off of Owens since he is a main roster guy now.  Plus, it shows that anything can happen on the WWE Network.  Great stuff.

After the match, the legendary Tatsumi Fujinami came down to the ring to give congratulations to Balor.  That was nice.  Owens then came up to Balor.  KO looked mad.  Balor extended his hand and the crowd chanted NXT.  KO feigned shaking, they blew Balor off.  Balor didn’t care.

And in your main event of the evening, we got a tag team match with King Barrett and Kane (that’s an odd pairing) taking on Dolph Ziggler (sans Lana) and John Cena.  The champ is here.

It went back and forth early on.  Then the heels got heat on Cena as he worked to make the hot tag to Ziggler.

They worked Cena over for a WHILE.  They got some near falls on him.  Cena even sold he didn’t have the power to get Kane up for an AA.  But Cena finally got away from Barrett and tagged in Ziggler (Cena then rolled to the floor to sell).  Ziggler came in HOT but within a minute Barrett took control of him when Zig went and nailed Kane. They worked over Zig for a couple of minutes and then Cena made his way back up to the corner.  The heels kept working Ziggler over for a while more.  There isn’t really much to the match thus far.

Finally Ziggler hit a DDT on Kane.  Could he make his way to John Cena?  Yes he can.  In he comes.  Cena went to work on Barrett.  Kane came in. He and Zig took care of him.  Zig then superkicked Barrett into an AA, 1-2-3.

This match was 95% the heels working over the faces so it was what it was.  They sent the fans home happy.

Overall, it was a very good show.  The NXT Title match was awesome.  Jericho vs. Neville and the Divas matches were very good.  And Brock destroying Kofi was a lot of fun.  I hope WWE does more of these.
