G1 Climax Day 7

A Block

Tomohiro Ishii defeated YOSHI-HASHI.  This was a quality match between CHAOS mates. YOSHI showed a different side here as he played the striking game. He hit Kawato Kicks, which made Ishii start chopping him in the throat! YOSHI hit more kicks and got near falls after a powerbomb and Lariat. They traded slaps and headbutts. YOSHI had the Butterfly Lock on for a long period of time, but Ishii fought out. Ishii won after a sliding Lariat and a Brainbuster.

Zack Sabre Jr defeated Bad Luck Fale.  On paper this match was almost hard to even picture because of how vastly different these two wrestlers are. The match saw Fale use his size to control the much smaller Sabre, with Sabre grabbing at any hold he could, climbing Fale like a tree at times. Fale was almost swatting him off like a fly.  Sabre grabbed at any limb he could and caught Fale for the pin with a cradle, barely keeping him down for the three.

Togi Makabe defeated Kota Ibushi.  Very good match that saw Ibushi play the underdog as he fought from underneath against the brawler. Ibushi went toe to toe with Makabe with strikes and won many exchanges.  Like many of his matches, Ibushi never really took to the air and stuck with the striking game for the most part.  Makabe hit an awesome looking diving knee on a standing Ibushi. Makabe then hit a powerbomb for a one count and followed up with the King Kong Knee Drop to win.

Tetsuya Naito defeated Yuji Nagata.  This was yet another top performance from Nagata. Similarly to his previous matches, he was toyed with until he finally snapped and punted Naito in the back with several kicks. Nagata started unloading big moves, hitting the back drop Driver. Naito had Destino blocked, and managed to get the Nagata Lock. Nagata blocked a Tornado DDT and went for a Brainbuster, but Naito countered into a version of Destino for a near fall. Naito then hit the move a second time to get the win. Not the best match either guy has had in the tournament, but this was still really good.

Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Hirooki Goto.  This was a hell of a main event. Goto obviously went after the bicep injury. Tanahashi targeted the knee as he got back into the match. Goto controlled a lot of this match as Tanahashi was on the back foot. They exchanged suplexes before Goto mounted a run of big moves. He hit the PK, Ushigoroshi and went for the GTR, but Tanahashi countered onto a neckbreaker. Goto went for Shotei Kai, but Tanahashi again uses the neckbreaker as a counter, but held on and delivered three. This followed by a Slingblade & High Fly Flow was enough for the win. This was a gritty win from Tanahashi as he battled from underneath.
