BULL JAMES, STOCKADE, DREAMER, WHIPWRECK, BIG O, MILK CHOCOLATE, ALEX REYNOLDS, JOE GACY, KING MEGA & MORE: COMPLETE 2017 NYWC PSYCHO CIRCUS COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-02-25 17:25:00

The show opened with a great music video pushing the main event.

NYWC champion Stockade hit the ring and said that Adam Rose/Leo Krugar was not going to be here because he was too cowardly to appear.  He said that he didn't care about a WWE reject because this was NYWC and he said he was replacing Krugar with a King - King Mega.  He promised to skin Bull Dempsey alive.

The story on Rose is that he texted the company at 5 AM this morning citing a family emergency for why he couldn't make the booking.

Joker's Wild Battle Royal

There were a ton of wrestlers in this, ranging from veterans like Papadon to some of the young NYWC students.   They had male and female competitors involved.  It came down to Mike Verna and Papadon.  The crowd was solidly behind Verna, who looks like a young Bobby Roode.   They exchanged blows.  Verna caught Papadon with a scoop powerslam.

Papadon sent him over the top but he caught himself.  He whipped Papadon into the corner but was kicked off as he charged.  Papadon hit a hell of a jawjacker elbow off the turnbuckles.  Papadon measured and drilled Verna with a series of kicks to the back.  Verna caught him with a Fireman's Carry and tried to muscle him over.

Papadon was over the top but caught himself.  He went off the top rope but was caught in mid-air and pulled up into an AA and dumped over the top to the floor.

Your winner, Mike Verna!

It was your typical battle royal early on with some good action between Papadon and Verna.  How Papadon isn't signed somewhere remains an extreme mystery to me.    Verna continues to show a lot of great potential and upside.

CZW champion "Chainsaw" Joe Gacy vs. Alex Reynolds

Reynolds came out to Faith No More's "Epic", so you know who I am rooting for.  Gacy was announced as "pro wrestling's maniac."  Reynolds played Larry Zbyszko early and stalled.   When he stepped into the ring, he rode Gacy to the mat and they did some back and forth wrestling, ending with Reynolds grabbing a side headlock and holding him to the mat.

Reynolds took down Gacy with a stepover toehold.  Gacy was sent into the ropes but drilled the challenger with a big right hand.  Reynolds came back with a dropkick.  He showboated to the crowd and was speared into the buckles and sent to the floor.  Gacy dove through the ropes.  It wasn't pretty but it was effective.  Gacy worked over Reynolds on the floor, beating him around the ringside area.

Back in the ring, Gacy prepared to come off the top rope but Reynolds caught him with a big boot, sending him to the floor.  Reynolds dropped to the floor and sent him into the ringpost.  He tossed Gacy back in and scored a two count, then stomped on his chest and dropped a knee for a second pinfall attempt.   Reynolds drilled him with an elbow in the corner followed by a big boot.

Reynolds continued to wear down Gacy, scoring another two after a spinning neckbreaker.  He whipped the CZW champ hard into the buckles with Gacy coming back with a lariat the second time.  He used a series of clotheslines on Reynolds but was kicked off as he charged.   Reynolds rolled him up but Gacy rolled through and nailed a superkick, followed by a Death Valley Driver for a two count.

They continued to battle with Gacy locking in a double underhook submission attempt, forcing Reynolds to get to the ropes to break it.  Reynolds came back with a slam and scored another two count.  Gacy small packaged him and almost scored the three count.  He went for a handspring elbow but was caught and snapped with a German suplex, setting up another near fall for Reynolds.   Solid back and forth match thus far.

They battled on the top,  Reynolds knocked Gacy into the ring below and nailed a moonsault.  He went for a move but was drilled with a right hand and suplexed over for a two count.  Gacy nailed a springboard elbow for a two count and cinched in an armbar for the submission.

Your winner and still CZW champion, Joe Gacy!

Real solid back and forth match with some good wrestling and a nice story to the action.  Gacy looked good here and Reynolds had yet another good showing.

They brought out Larry Legend as a guest ring announcer.

NYWC Tag Team champions Anthony LaCerra and Jesse Vane vs. Milk Chocolate

This is Brandon Watts' first appearance in ten months as he's coming back from breaking a bone in his neck last year.    He got a nice reaction for his return.

LaCerra and Randy Summers started out, muscling each other around the ring with a collar and elbow tie-up.   Vane tagged in and faced off with Summers.  Watts asked to be tagged in and psyched himself up, but was taken down in an armbar.  He used the ropes to flip himself over the escape, then reverse.   They went back and forth with Watts getting the better end of the deal and looking extremely crisp.

Summers tagged in and was chopped hard by Vane  He responded by grabbing Vane's nipples.  Ouch!  The champions nailed some double team maneuvers, working over Summers.  Watts tagged in and worked over LaCerra, slamming him.  He went to the floor.  Vane tried to attack MC but was tossed to the floor.  Milk Chocolate nailed stereo pescados but LaCerra got out of the way of his, returning to the ring and hitting a tope con hilo on Summers.

Summers was tossed back in the ring and covered for a two count.  Vane tagged in and hit a springboard elbow for a two count.  Verna worked him over until missing a kneedrop.  Summers was able to make a comeback and sent the tag champs to the floor. He implored Watts to go to the top and hit a dive as earlier Watts showed that he was too worried to do it.  Watts hit an insane flip to the floor.

Back in the ring, Summers came off the top with a double stomp on LaCerra.  Watts drilled him and covered him for the pin but Vane dove in and broke up the pinfall.    They went into a lot of fast paced back and forth action at this point.  Vane and Watts chopped the hell out of each other.  Watts hit a tornado DDT on Vane, sending him into a Summers lariat.

Milk Chocolate were setting up Vane for their finishers when LaCerra slipped into the ring and kicked Watts in the back of the head and scored the pin.

Your winners and still NYWC Tag Team champions Anthony LaCerra and Jesse Vane!

Good match.  Watts looked really great in his return and I'm happy to see him return in such fine form.  Summers has turned into a hell of a babyface on his time alone.  These guys are money.  Vane and LeCerra looked good.  Vane has been expanding his repetoire and LaCerra has improved a ton since I first saw him.

NYWC Starlet champion J-Redd vs. Willow Nightingale

J-Redd is a man, so how he got the Starlet title is beyond me as I cover this.  He was showboating and talking a lot of trash early.    He controlled her early but took Nightingale too lightly, so ended up hiptossed and slammed.  He went to the floor so she hit a kick to the floor and tossed him back in.

J-Redd tried to talk trash again and went for a test of strength.  Willow obliged but then monkey flipped him over and scored a two count.  She nailed a standing head scissor but Redd's second tried to interfere, distracting her.  Redd slammed her back to the mat by her hair.  She nailed several shots to the mid-section but went to whip her across the ring when her knee buckled.  He nailed a sitdown legdrop across her.

Willow fired up with forearm shots but was cut down with a lariat.  Redd followed her to the floor.  The second hit the ring but Sami Pickles and another female hit the ring.  One of them hit a stunner on the second.  Pickles hit a dive on him to the floor.  When Redd returned to the ring, they caught him with a double stunner but he still kicked up when Willow covered him.

Redd charged the ring, stopped and backslapped Willow.  Willow caught him and dropped him with a powerbomb and scored the pin.

Your winner and new NYWC Starlet Willow Nightingale!

The crowd was really into the story and popped huge for the win.

Three matches left!
