WWE NXT REPORT: WHO IS THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER?, EIGHT MAN TAG MATCH, ASUKA IN ACTION, ALEX RILEY RETURNS TO THE RING, AND MORE

This week's show starts off with a tease for tonight's main event between Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe for the opportuity to determine who is the new number one contender for the NXT Championship.

We are in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Tom Phillips and Corey Graves.

Before we have our first match, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady come to the ring and they do their usual introduction.  Colin says that their opponents have only one word to describe them and he will spell it out . . . well he starts and the crowd continues.

Match Number One:  Scott Dawson, Dash Wilder, Wesley Blake, and Buddy Murphy (with Alexa Bliss) versus Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, Chad Gable, and Jason Jordan

Dawson and Gable start things off and Dawson goes for the legs but Gable avoids him.  They lock up and they go to a stalemate.  They lock up again and Gable with a hammer lock.  Dawson escapes and he goes to the mat but Gable maintains the offensive position and he applies a waist lock and rolls up Dawson but Dawson gets to the ropes.  They lock up again and Wilder tags in and then all eight men get into the ring.  The referee tries to control things and he tells them to go one in for each team.
That plan does not work and Blake, Murphy, Wilder, and Dawson go to the floor.  They come back into the ring and all eight men continue to brawl.  Eventually we get the same result wtih Enzo, Cassady, Gable, and Jordan on the floor. 

We go to commercial.

We are back and Blake with a reverse chin lock on Gable.  We see footage from thecommercial break when Wilder hit Gable from behind as Dawson sacrificed himself on the apron.  Blake with a front face lock and he tries for a suplex but Gable counters with an inside cradle and he gets a near fall.  Dawson tags in and he hits a drop kick while Blake holds Gable.  Dawson gets a near fall.  Dawson with a back elbow and a snap leg drop.  Dawson gets a near fall.

Dawson taunts Gable and sends him into Wilder's knee and Wilder tags in.  Wilder gets a near fall.  Wilder sends Gable into the corner and Murphy tags in.  Murphy with punches in the corner and then he connects with a European uppercut.  Blake tags in and he kicks Gable.  Dawson tags in and connects with a clothesline followed by a near fall.

Dawson with a slam to Gable and Wilder tags in and Dawson picks up Wilder for an assisted leg drop from an atomic drop set up.  Wilder gets a near fall.  Wilder with a reverse chin lock.  Gable tries to get to his corner but Wilder punches Enzo while Dawson distracts the referee.  Cassady punches Wilder.  Jordan and Dawson tag in and Jordan with drop kicks.  Cassady with a boot to Murphy.  Wilder is sent into the air and then to the mat.  Blake is hit with a Bossman Slam.

Jordan with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex to Dawson.  Cassady press slams Wilder onto Blake and Murphy.  Gable tags in and they hit Grand Amplitude but the cover is broken up.  Enzo tags in and they hit the Rocket Launcher for the three count.

Winners:  Jason Jordan, Chad Gable, Enzo Amore, and Colin Cassady

Deonna Purrazzo is with Alex Reyes and Alex reminds Deonna about what happened the last time she faced Asuka.

Deonna says Asuka is like no one else she has faced before.  Being knocked out is a learning experience and you have to be ready for anything.

Dana Brooke says that Deonna has not learned about respect.  She says that they run NXT.  Emma asks if Deonna has been living under a rock.  Dana says that when Asuka beat them, she was lucky.  Emma says that even Michael Jordan had an off day.  Dana tells Deonna if she thinks she can beat Asuka, she is more delusional than she looks.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Two:  Deonna Purrazzo versus Asuka

Asuka teases a spin kick and Deonna makes sure that she is far enough away from her.  Asuka with kicks to the leg and Deonna goes down.  Asuka with kicks to the back and then to the chest.  Deonna with a forearm but Asuka with a running body scissors into a knee bar but Deonna gets to the ropes.  Asuka runs into boots from Deonna and Deonna with a cross body for a near fall.  Deonna with forearms but Asuka is not affected.  Deonna with more forearms.
Deonna with a slap and Asuka smells blood in the water and she kicks Deonna.  Asuka with an Irish whip and Deonna goes to the turnbuckles but Asuka with a kick as Deonna makes her way back to the mat.  Asuka goes for an ankle lock and she applies it.  Asuka with a German suplex for a near fall.  Asuka goes for a Fujiwara arm bar and then Asuka turns it into the crossface chicken wing.

Asuka with back fists and a spinning back heel kick for the three count.

Winner:  Asuka

Tom discusses the match between Bayley and Carmella from last week.  We see what happened after the match when Eva Marie and Nia Jax got involved.  Then we see Asuka coming to the ring and her staredown with Bayley.

Eva Marie and Nia Jax are in the interview area.  Eva says they made a statement last week.  Nia says it was perfectly justified.  If she was cleared to compete in the battle royal, she would have been the number one contender.  Everyone knows that.  Eva says that Asuka needs to stay out of their business.  Nia says if she does not, she will end up like the rest of the Women's Division . . . broken.

We see Samoa Joe getting ready in the back.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Three:  Tye Dillinger versus Alex Riley

They lock up and Riley with a wrist lock.  Riley keeps Dillinger on the mat to counter an escape by Dillinger.  Dillinger with a reversal and snap mare and then he does a cartwheel.  Dillinger with a waist lock into a side head lock.  Riley wtih a clothesline and then he chops Dillinger in the corner.  Riley with a punch and elbow drop for a near fall.  Riley with a quarter nelson and chin lock.  

Dillinger gets back to his feet and Tye with a snap mare and chop.  Dillinger with another chop.  Dillinger with a Thesz Press and punches.  Dillinger with a reverse atomic drop but Riley wtih a forearm.  Dillinger with a victory roll for the three count.

Winner:  Tye Dillinger

After the match, Dillinger does a victory lap before going to the back.

Alex Reyes is with Finn Balor in the interview area and Alex asks Finn for his prediction about the main event.  Finn starts off by saying that Apollo Crews proved himself a few weeks ago and they will be in the ring again.  He says that Sami and Joe will do whatever it takes to get a shot at the title.  Sami knows what it takes to get there and Joe has shown that he will do anything to get there.  He vows to defend his title against whoever wins the match tonight.

We see Sami Zayn getting ready in the back.

We go to commercial.

William Regal is in his office and Baron Corbin says he deserves to be put in the Number One Contender Match.

William tells Corbin that he lost and his decision is final.

Corbin says he is the type of guy who believes in an eye for an eye, especially when it comes to stealing.

Corey and Tom talk about two tag matches that will take place next week.  Chad Gable and Jason Jordan will face Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.  Nia Jax and Eva Marie will face Bayley and Carmella.

Match Number Four:  Samoa Joe versus Sami Zayn in a Number One Contender Match

They try to get the early advantage and find a weakness.  Joe tries for a round kick but misses.  They lock up and Zayn with a wrist lock.  Joe with a reversal.  Zayn tries for a reversal but Joe takes Zayn to the mat and he puts his forearm against Zayn's jaw.  Joe backs Zayn into the ropes and he connects with an elbow on the break.  The referee warns Joe.

They lock up and Joe with a side head lock.  Joe holds on when Zayn tries to send Joe off the ropes.  Zayn with an arm drag and Joe backs up into the ropes.  They go for a Greco Roman knuckle lock but Zayn with a wrist lock out of it.  Joe with a reversal into a side head lock.  Zayn drops down and Joe goes over the top rope to the floor.  Zayn sets for a dive to the floor but Joe moves so Sami bounces off the ropes and does an Arabian Press back into the ring.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Joe with a kick to the leg.  Joe with another kick to the leg.  Joe kicks Zayn into the corner and Joe connects with elbows to the head to work on Zayn's equilibrium.  Joe with a chop that sends Zayn to the mat.  Zayn leaps over Joe and then hits a satellite arm drag.  Joe runs into the corner and he is caught with an STJoe.  Joe kicks Zayn in the head.  Joe with elbows to the top of the head.  Joe with forearms to the head and Zayn is down.  Joe punches Zayn in the head.  Joe and Zayn with forearms and Zayn gets the advantage until Joe sweeps the leg.

Joe with a suplex to Zayn and then he gets a near fall.  Zayn with a forearm but Joe with a kick to the head.  Zayn struggles on his feet but he leans against the ropes.  Joe with punches followed by a European uppercut.  Joe with a chop and then he tells Zayn he wanted this.  Joe with another chop.  Joe with a forearm but Zayn with clotheslines.  Joe with a kick but Zayn with a clothesline.

Zayn tries for the Blue Thunder Bomb but Joe uses his weight to block it.  Joe with an elbow but Zayn with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.  Zayn sets for a suplex but Joe blocks it and Joe with a reverse atomic drop and running boot.  Joe follows with a back senton for a near fall.  Joe with a kick and punches to Zayn.  Joe continues with jabs to the head and the referee checks on Zayn.  

Joe slaps Zayn and then connects with forearms.  Zayn with a flatline and he tries for the Koji Clutch but Joe escapes.  Joe wtih a power slam for a near fall.  Joe with jabs and Zayn bounces off the ropes.  Zayn with a forearm and he follows with more forearms.  Joe with an Irish whip followed by an elbow and enzuigiri in the corner.  Zayn with an Exploder into the turnbuckles and then Zayn sets for the Helluva Kick but Joe gets out of the corner and he applies the choke on Zayn.  Zayn tries to use the turnbuckles to get out of the hold but Joe sits down in the corner with the choke until the referee starts his count.

Joe puts Zayn on the turnbuckles for the musclebuster but Zayn gets to his feet and Zayn with a Helluva Kick but Zayn falls on top of Joe with his shoudlers on the mat.

Winner:  ?????????

The referee does not make a decision as he looks at both men.  The referee goes to the floor and he talks to a production worker.  

Zayn thinks he won the match but the referee does not raise his arm.  Zayn has his arm put down by the referee so that means that Joe feels that he won.  The referee puts his arm down as well.

The referee says that he made the three count but both men's shoulders were down so it was a double pin.

The referee leaves the ring and he talks to William Regal to explain what he saw.  He says that both men's shoulders were down and the match is a draw.

Regal says he needs a number one contender but the referee says that he cannot do that because both men had their shoulders down.

Zayn and Joe try to plead their cases as we go to credits.
