2002 - Our own Jess McGrath broke the following story...NWA-TNA’s weekly pay-per-views will be moving locations in Nashville, from the Municipal Auditorium to the Fairgrounds, starting next week. The Auditorium was booked on 7/31 and there were also a couple dates in August that would have been problems. And of course, there’s the obvious advantage aesthetically to being able to pack a smaller building as opposed to filling a larger building maybe one-quarter of the way.  The Fairgrounds was the longtime home for weekly wrestling in the old territory days, first with Nick Gulas and Roy Welch (who ran the building, interestingly enough, on Wednesday nights), then with NWA-TNA promoter Jerry Jarrett's Jarrett Promotions, later known as the USWA. Since the folding of the USWA in 1997, it’s been in several different promoters’ hands, but usually Bert Prentice has been running there.

2002 - TNA held its fifth weekly pay-per-view event at the NWA-TNA Asylum in Nashville, Tennessee.  Buck Woodward filed the following report:

NWA:TNA for July 17th began with highlights of the close of last week's show, which saw Jeff Jarrett and Malice, who both want a piece of NWA World Champion Ken Shamrock.  We saw that Goldylocks tried to interview Shamrock about the situation earlier this week, but he went nuts on her, screaming and cursing, obviously unnerved about things.

The ladder was set up in the ring for the Jarrett-Malice match, with the winner to get a title shot at Shamrock in the future.  However, they cut to the back, where Jeff Jarrett was brawling with Scott Hall.  Security (and I think one was a Harris Brother) and Bill Behrens broke it up, and Behrens had Jarrett removed from the building, saying he had forfeited his match tonight due to his actions.  I guess we're not going to get Jarrett vs. Malice.

Jim Mitchell came to the ring with Malice, Tempest and Slash.  He said that since Jarrett would not be there to "bleed" tonight, Malice would put out an open challenge to anyone else for the ladder match, with the title shot on the line.

The lights suddenly went out, and when they came back on, Sabu was standing in the ring.

Sabu hit a swinging DDT, then a leg lariat from the second rope.  Malice came back with a back elbow, and choked Sabu. Mike Tenay explained that Sabu was supposed to make his debut for NWA:TNA later tonight. Malice slammed Sabu, and Tempest handed him a chair.  Sabu dropkicked his leg out from under him, and Malice fell into the chair.  Sabu threw the chair at Malice twice, then went for Air Sabu in the corner off the chair, but Malice caught him and hit a backbreaker.  Malice hit a vertical suplex, then dropped a leg.  Tempest put the chair in the corner, and Malice threw Sabu into it. Tempest reached in and choked Sabu.  Malice went for a big boot, but something went wrong, and he awkwardly went over the top rope to the floor.  Malice went for the ladder, paused, then tried to bring it in, but Sabu dropkicked it into him, sending Malice down on the floor.  Sabu hit a chair launch into a springboard bodypress on Malice.  Sabu whipped Tempest into the guardrail, then hit a leg lariat on Malice off the ring steps.  Sabu went for a table, set it at ringside, but Malice cut him off. Malice dropped Sabu headfirst across the ladder, which had been bridged between the guardrail and the ring apron.  He did it again, this time with Sabu landing chestfirst.  Sabu's nose was busted open. Malice whipped Sabu into the ladder in the ring, then picked up Sabu, and the ladder, and slammed them both down.  Malice stomped Sabu, then hit him with a chairshot to the back.  Malice picked up the ladder, but Sabu springboarded off the second rope and hit a leg lariat, sending the ladder into Malice.  Sabu put the ladder on top of Malice, and hit a double legdrop.  Sabu went to climb the ladder, but Malice pulled him off with a powerbomb.  Malice laid the ladder in the corner, and hit an overhead belly to belly suplex, sending Sabu right onto the ladder.  Malice hit a big boot, and Tempest reached in to choke Sabu.  Malice climbed the ladder, but Sabu hit a top rope dropkick into the ladder, sending him crashing to the mat.  Malice whipped Sabu into the ladder in the corner, but missed a charge.  Sabu threw a chair at Malice, hitting him right in the head.  Sabu then hit Air Sabu in the corner, with Malice still up against the ladder.  Sabu then bulldogged the ladder off the top rope onto Malice's back.  Sabu grabbed a chair that Tempest was trying to get in the ring, and hit an Arabian Facebuster on Malice.  Mitchell distracted the referee, so Tempest could reach in and choke Sabu.  Sabu broke free and climbed the ladder, but Malice pulled him off.  Sabu and Malice exchanged punches, then Sabu hit two chairshots, but Malice would not fall down.  Sabu went for a running chairshot, but Malice hit a spinebuster.  Malice climbed up the ladder, but Sabu tipped the ladder, and Malice fell off the ladder, out of the ring, and feet first through the table at ringside.   Sabu climbed the ladder and grabbed the contract.

Sabu is the winner, and gets the NWA World Title match with Ken Shamrock next week.

Tempest and Slash attacked, but Sabu hit a Quebrada moonsault on both men.  Malice joined in, and Sabu succumbed to the three on one.  Malice hit a chairshot, then chokeslammed Sabu off the ring apron, through a table at ringside.  The announcers wondered if Sabu would be able to wrestle next week.

Outside, in the rain, Jarrett and Behrens were still arguing, with security holding them apart.

Sabu was being helped to the back, as AJ Styles came to the ring.  The announcers said his match wasn't until later tonight.

Styles started to say Jerry Lynn owes him an explanation, when Lynn stormed the ring, telling Styles to shut up.  Lynn said Styles wanted to know why he was punked out last week.  Lynn asked how long Styles has been wrestling, and Styles said four.  Lynn asked how long he was wrestling, and Styles said Lynn had been wrestling 14 years.  Lynn ripped into Styles for not having done anything in wrestling, while Lynn was paying his dues.  Lynn really laid into Styles, telling him he wasn't "s***".  Lynn said he gave Styles an opportunity to be his partner, and that Styles was trying to steal all the victories and the glory.  Styles acted humbled, and then gave Lynn an enzugiri and a discus clothesline when he turned around.  Styles gave Lynn the Styles Clash, then walked out, screaming at Lynn as he left. The announcers pointed out that they are still the tag team champions.

Last week's almost "T&A" moment with Jasmin St. Claire was recapped.  Goldylocks went to interview Jasmin in the back, but Francine attacked Jasmin and beat her up.  She tossed her in a shower, and turned it on, telling Jasmin to "cool off".

K Krush came to the ring, and said he was "pissed off" and had something to say.  He said that he looked, sounded, moved, and smelled like a star. He then wondered why he was not the biggest star in the business, and asked why they were putting him in the ring with NASCAR drivers.  He asked why WWF let him go.  He said that everyone is afraid that K Krush would become something everybody was afraid of.  He would become the hottest star in the business, and then they would have to sell his T-shirts.  He said he was treated like a second class citizen, because everyone knows he is better than everyone else in the business.  He said from now on, he was going to take what he wants.  He said that he should not be seen as an "angry black man", but as simply being "the truth".

Out came his opponent, Norman Smiley. Krush attacked early, but Smiley came back, poking Krush in the eyes and getting in some dancing.  Smiley hit the big slam, then did the Big Wiggle before hitting a facebuster for a two count.  K Krush did a split to duck a clothesline, and hit a spinkick to the gut for a two count. Krush hit a series of punches and stomps in the corner.  Smiley went for a charge, but Krush booted him.  Smiley came back with a back suplex. Smiley hit some rights, decking Krush, then hit a headbutt. Smiley hit a back elbow and a clothesline, and a butt butt to the head.   Krush came back with a gourdbuster out of nowhere for the three count.  Krush took off his belt, then hung Smiley with it over the top rope.  A large woman, who they said was Smiley's wife, came to ringside and yelled at Krush to leg him go. Krush grabbed her, letting Norman go, but security pulled everything apart.

Goldylocks interviewed Puppet, who was in a trashcan.  Puppet did an innuendo laden promo, and went back to complaining about midgets, promising to take care of Meatball tonight.  Goldylocks then moved on to the Dupps.  Bo was messing with Fluff, while Stan was playing with a lighter like Beavis and Butthead.  The innuendos continued with them.

The Flying Elvises attack on the X-Division from last week was recapped, as the Elvises (Siaki & Estrada) came to the ring to take on Elix Skipper & Christopher Daniels. Daniels and Christopher hit the ring, and Daniels hit a twisting pescado on Estrada early, but Siaki kicked Skipper.  Estrada hit a facebuster on Daniels, and Siaki hit a Samoan Drop on Skipper for a two count.  It settled into a tag match.  Estrada hit a running moonsault on Skipper for a two count. Siaki actually went to ringside and did commentary while Estrada worked over Skipper.  Siaki tagged in, and Skipper hit a boot to the face, but Siaki hit a drop-down over the shoulder backbreaker for a two count.  Estrada hit a split leg moonsault on Skipper for another two count. Siaki went back to do more commentary, while Estrada worked against Skipper again.  Skipper came back with a springboard clothesline, and tagged Daniels.  Daniels went to town on both, hitting a clothesline/bulldog combo on both.  Skipper hit a rana off Daniels back, off Estrada's shoulders, onto Siaki.  Daniels hit a powerbomb on Estrada for a two count.  Siaki tripped Daniels, and Estrada hit a second rope legdrop for a two count. Siaki worked over Daniels in the corner.  Estrada came in, missed a charge, and Daniels hit an enzugiri on Estrada.  Skipper and Siaki tagged in, and Skipper went to town on both men, spinkicking Estrada, and hitting a belly to belly suplex on Siaki.  Skipper hit a double underhook on Siaki for a two count.  Estrada came in and hit a facebuster, but messed up on a moonsault move.  Daniels tagged in, hit a legsweep and a double springboard moonsault for a two count.  Siaki tagged in, but Daniels hit a reverse legsweep and tagged Elix, who hit a top rope legdrop on Siaki for a two count.  Siaki came back with a exploder suplex for a two count.  Daniels came in and clothesline Siaki from the ring.  They brawled on the outside, while in the ring, Skipper flipped out of a German suplex, and hit the Play of the Day on Estrada.  The referee was distracted by the brawl at ringside.  Siaki got back in as Elix was arguing with the referee, and blindsided him for the win.  The Elvises win.  Siaki then took off as the Dupps came to the ring, leaving his partner alone in the ring as the Dupps hit Estrada with wooden boards. The Dupps then celebrated in the ring.

Teo was dancing in one of the cages with the TNA Girls.

Goldylocks interviewed K Krush, when Scott Hall attacked Krush and left him laying.

I just was informed that Jerry Lynn was not supposed to say "god damn" during his promo, and was talked to about it backstage.  Given he said other words, like "s***", I'm surprised that was such a problem on PPV.

Hour two started with Meatball, the "World's Largest Midget", who came to ringside with a grocery cart of food, vs. Puppet.  Puppet hit him with a trashcan, gave him the Stroke into the can, and dropkicked it into him.  Meatball came back, tossing Puppet to the floor, hitting a double axhandle off the apron, and slamming Puppet on the rampway.  Meatball did a cartwheel, and dropped an elbow on Puppet.  Meatball whipped Puppet into the guardrail.  They went to the grocery cart, where Meatball attacked Puppet with a pie, Cheese Whiz, and tomatoes.  Puppet came back with a low blow, then hit Meatball with a bag of flour.  Puppet hit him with a watermelon, then a trashcan lid.  Puppet tossed a chair to Meatball, then dropkicked it into him.  Puppet rolled Meatball into the stairs. Puppet hit a tornado DDT from the steps to the floor, and got a two count on the floor. Puppet hit a guillotine legdrop with a chair under Meatball's face.  Puppet put the chair on top of Meatball, and hit a V-Bomb from the second rope for the pin. Puppet gave Teo a dirty look as he walked by the cage that Teo was dancing in.  Teo then ripped the T-shirt off the girl in the cage with him (she was wearing a bra).

Jasmin, who was still hurting and wet from the shower attack, came to the ring.  Yes, Jasmin was wearing a white shirt, soaking wet, with nothing underneath it. She demanded that Francine come to the ring now.  Francine, in street clothes came out.  Catfight.  Jasmin ripped off Francine's top (she had a bra on too).  Francine ripped off Jasmin's shorts (she had a thong on).  Francine took off her belt, and whipped Jasmin across the rear.  The Blue Meanie hit the ring, and Francine tried to whip him, but Meanie grabbed her and hit a DDT.  Meanie scooped up Jasmin and took her to the back.  Ed Ferrara checked on Francine, and they brought out a stretcher.  The announcers ripped on Meanie for ruining the catfight.  Francine was stretchered out.

Goldylocks went to interview Low Ki, who said he does his talking in the ring and walked away from her.  They then had a video package on Low Ki's Dragon Clutch and Ki Crusher '99 and one on AJ Styles' Styles Clash and Spiral Tap. The X-Division match is next.

They locked up, and Low Ki hit a drop toe hold, but Styles reversed into a headlock, which Ki turned into an armbar.  Styles went into a front facelock, then both took turns getting a mount and hitting some punches.  They traded chops, then kicks to the legs.  They moved to kicks to the sides, then AJ missed a kick, and Low Ki took him down and applied a front facelock.  Styles reversed, got a mount, and hit some punches.  Styles went for a leg, but Low Ki kicked him in the face with the free leg.  Low Ki hit some chops in the corner, then went for the handspring, but Styles dropkicked him midflip.  Styles hit a dropkick, then kicked Low Ki in the back.  Styles hit a somersault senton, but Low Ki stopped a whip attempt and hit a rolling kick.  Low Ki hit a running kick, and Styles went to the apron.  Styles tried to climb the ropes, but Ki kicked him.  They fought on the apron, but Styles hit a discus lariat on the apron.  Styles went for the Asai moonsault, but Ki moved.  Styles got the advantage on the floor, then got in the ring for a tope, but Ki jumped up from the floor and kicked Styles in the face as he started the dive.  They fought on the apron again, trading chops and kicks, then Ki got the Dragon Clutch on the ropes, similar to a reverse Tarantula.  Low Ki got a two count, then kicked Styles in the back.  Low Ki applied a Dragon Sleeper, but Styles made the ropes.  Styles moonsaulted over Low Ki, then hit a reverse DDT.  Styles got a two count.  Low Ki caught a charging Styles with a superkick, then Ki ran into a powerslam.  Styles hit a delayed brainbuster for a two count.  Styles missed a splash in the corner, and Ki set him for a superplex.  After a series of headbutts, Styles still blocked it, and tossed Ki to the mat.  Styles missed the Spiral Tap, and Ki got a two count.  Low Ki went for the Ki Crusher '99, charged into the turnbuckles with it, but as he went for it, Styles turned it into a DDT.  Ki reversed a whip then hit a handspring kick in the corner.  Ki went for a twisting backflip into a rana off the top rope, but Styles caught him as he came off, and hit the Styles Clash, and got the pin.  AJ Styles retains the X-Division Title.

As Styles was leaving the ring, Jerry Lynn speared him on the stage.  Lynn dragged him to the ring, and gave Styles a piledriver.  Lynn pulled a ladder out from under the ring, and propped it in the corner.  Lynn then hit a released Northern Lights suplex into the ladder.  The fans were chanting "Jerry" as Lynn hit a facebuster on Styles on the ladder. Lynn hit a legdrop on Styles, and screamed at Styles that he will respect him.  The announcers again emphasized that they are still the tag team champions.  Lynn walked off, as the announcers put over that they have to team together next week. Lynn then came back to the ring, and stomped Styles some more, then DDT'd him on the ladder.  Lynn pounded Styles in the head, then finished him off with the cradle piledriver.  The fans chanted "Jerry Lynn".

It was announced that next week's NWA World Title match between Ken Shamrock and Sabu will be ladder vs. submission.  You can win by either snatching the belt form above the ring, or by submission.

Brian Lawler, who still has the Brian Christopher/Grand Master Sexay-look and music, came to the ring.  Some fans chanted "Jerry's Kid" at him.  Lawler said he was going to reveal some secrets about Jerry Lawler.  He said that Jerry Lawler has been married three times, and all three wives were younger than Brian.  Yeah, the announcers were trying to figure that out too.  Brian Lawler said that Jerry wasn't at the show to see his son wrestle, because he was at the high school with a fistful of candy.  Lawler then said he had one to reveal about Jim Ross, Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler.  They started Scott Hall's music, but Lawler demanded they turn it off.  He continued to rant, while Scott Hall came in through the crowd.  Lawler then made fun of "Last Call" Hall, while Scott Hall was standing right behind him.  They really stretched it out, with Hall moving as Lawler turned left and right, so he didn't know he was there.  Finally, he turned into a Hall right hand.  Hall hit a series of punches, and sent Lawler from the ring.  Hall whipped him into the guardrail, and pounded him on top of the announcers table.  Hall slammed him face first into the table, then whipped him into the opposite rail.  Hall chased Lawler up the rampway and decked him twice with right hands.  Lawler grabbed a purse from ringside and hit Hall with it.  Lawler rammed him into the post and tossed him into the ring.  The fans chanted "Jerry's Kid".  Lawler hit some right hands, then pounded him in the corner and bit him.  Brian Lawler hit a headbutt to the groin, and a vertical suplex for a two count.  Christopher whipped Hall into the corner and hit some shoulderblocks.  Lawler hung Hall across the second rope, then slid from the ring and punched Hall.  Lawler grabbed the mic and said anyone chanting "Jerry's Kids" can kiss his ass.  Hall came back with right hands, but Lawler hit him with a superkick.  Lawler took the googles and went to the top rope, but Hall stopped him and tossed him off.  Hall missed a clothesline, but caught a cross bodyblock and hit a fallaway slam.  Hall put Lawler in the corner, and hit a second rope back superplex.  Hall called for the Edge, but Lawler just backed out of it.  K Krush ran in, but Hall slugged him from the ring.  Hall then kicked Lawler in the gut and hit the Outsider's Edge for the win.  Scott Hall wins.

Krush ran back in, but Hall slugged him, and set for the Edge, but Lawler lowblowed him three times from behind.  Krush and Lawler crotched Hall with Krush's belt, then they hung him over the second rope with it.  Bullet Bob Armstrong, Don Harris and the referees came out and forced Krush and Christopher to the back.  A stretcher was brought out.  They started to wheel Hall to the back, and Jeff Jarrett, dressed like a paramedic (actually, just a tan polo shirt and pants) hit Hall with a chair, and laid out a bunch of security.  Jarrett was still hitting Hall and security with chairshots as the show ended.

2007 - WWE broadcast ECW on Sci Fi.  Mike Johnson filed the following TV Report:

The new ECW opening is awesome, but I miss the old Slashtones ECW theme song.

Joey Styles and Tazz welcomed everyone to ECW and noted they were expecting a major announcement from ECW champion Johnny Nitro.  They showed reporters camped outside his locker room.  A "press agent" for Nitro came out and said that tonight would be the last time Nitro would appear on ECW.  He said Nitro would have an official announcement during a conference in the ring later tonight.  Tazz and Joey wondered what that meant and said that was "huge."

CM Punk made his way to the ring.  They plugged the ECW title match for the Great American Bash.  Elijah Burke made his way to the ring.

CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke

Burke started jawing at Punk.  They had words center-ring.  They cinched into a collar and elbow lockup, working their way around the ring.  They went for a test of strength in the center of the ring, which Punk won.  He leveraged Burke into the air and slammed him down.  Punk kept up the momentum, taking Burke to the mat.  Punk cinched in a reverse hammerlock, then ran Burke into the turnbuckles.  Punk hit a couple of kicks and a legdrop for a two count.  He went right back to working on the arm as Burke screamed Punk was going to break it.  Burke made his way up to his feet and kicked Punk.  He tossed him into the corner and took over with strikes.  Burke got a two count after an elbowdrop.  Burke went for a suplex, but Punk reversed it for a near fall.  Punk went right back to the arm.  Punk charged him in the corner but was kicked.  Burke and Punk fell over the ropes to the floor as they went to commercial.  So far, OK.  Technically sound but just OK.

Zack Morris will star in Atomic Twister.  I'm hoping for AC Slater in Nuclear Chutes & Ladders.

When ECW returned, Burke had Punk trapped in a one leg Boston Crab.  He began dropping elbows over the small of Punk's back.  Punk kicked up at two.  He cinched in a full Boston Crab as Punk screamed in anguish.  Punk tried to crawl to the ropes.  He teased tapping out but finally reached them.  Burke tried to pull Punk back towards the center but was kicked off.  Punk began nailing Burke with round kicks.  Burke cut him off with a punch, then continued the assault.  Burke applied a sufboard from a kneeling position.  You could hear a small "CM Punk" chant briefly.

Burke dropped Punk down into a backbreaker over the knee, but only got a two count.  Burke complained about a slow count from referee Scott Armstrong.  Burke continued to work over Punk's lower back.  He slammed Punk.  He went to grab Punk, who kicked him from a prone position.  Punk began nailing kicks and finally a clothesline.  He nailed a flapjack on Burke, then a kick for a two count.  Burke drilled Punk with a back suplex for a near fall.  Punk comes back with a DDT for a near fall.

Burke nailed a German suplex, but Punk kicked up.  Burke began peppering Punk with a series of left hands.  He went for a clothesline, but Punk ducked and caught him with the GTS, scoring the pin.

Your winner, CM Punk!

The match was OK.  Punk vs. Richards last week was much more fun.

Punk motioned for the belt with his hands during his exit.

Tazz and Joey Styles discussed the debut of Big Daddy V and said up next was his first ECW match.  Believe it or not, the former Mabel actually appeared for the original ECW at the November to Remember '98 in New Orleans (he was actually a member of the Full Blooded Italians, no kidding!), but that doesn't count in this revisionist version of ECW.

They aired a Raw Rebound segment designed to push John Cena vs. Bobby Lashley at the Great American Bash.  They did a good job of building the bout with all the "legends" giving their comments.  I liked it.

Matt Striker came to the ring wearing a suit and tie.  He said he gave the Boogey Man a lesson in redemption and they showed V's debut last week.  introduced Big Daddy V.

Big Daddy V vs. Tim Storm

V killed Storm with a running splash in the corner.  He hit a Samoan Drop and a Bubbaslam, then scored the pin.  The end.  Squash city. V has replaced Snitsky as the resident lumbering monster.

Your winner, Big Daddy V!

When ECW returned from commercial, The Miz was inside the ring in street clothes.  He called himself a chick magnet and said that no matter where he is, women throw themselves at him.  He said that every woman in the arena wants him.  He said that perhaps it's his personality, or his charisma, or even his good looks, but the fact is "Chicks dig me and men fear me."  He said that he's about to call out three women who have special surprise for him.  How is it a surprise if he knows about it?  Extreme Expose come to the ring. Layla El called for a chair and sat his Mizness down in in.  Two of them danced while Kelly Kelly sucked.  Seriously, Robby the Robot has more rhythm.  They tamely lapdanced Miz.

Tazz and Joey Styles wondered what Johnny Nitro's announcement about tonight being his final ECW appearance meant and whether it was related to the Extreme Rules match from last week with Tommy Dreamer.  They showed a series of clips from the match.

Tommy Dreamer made his way to the ring.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Kevin Thorn

AGAIN?? Who's wrestled more, these two or CM Punk and Stevie Richards?  Sheesh!

Thorn goes for a punch but Dreamer nails him first.  I guess these two, uh, know each other.  Thorn runs Dreamer backwards into the ring.  Dreamer hiptosses him.  Dreamer dropped an elbow over thorn.  Thorn went outside to the apron, then dropped down, snapping Dreamer's arm over the ropes.  The announcers said Dreamer's shoulder was hurting from last week.  Thorn went right after the shoulder, pulling at it, then kicked Dreamer off.  He applied a top wristlock, then shoulderblocked Dreamer down.  Dreamer finally hit a neckbreaker.  Dreamer kicked Thorn as he charged in the corner, then snapped him backwards with another neckbreaker.  Dreamer went to the top rope, slowly, and was caught.  Thorn went for the Dark Kiss/Original Sin, but Dreamer shoved him off.  Thorn beat him down and went for a suplerplex.  Dreamer shoved him off and hit a splash off the ropes,...seriously.  Dreamer only got a two count.  Dreamer went for a piledriver, but his arm hurt and Thorn snapped him to the mat.  Thorn went for a powerbomb but Dreamer escaped and hit a clothesline.  He went for a DDT, but Thorn evaded and threw Dreamer shoulder-first into the ringpost.  Thorn pulled Dreamer back into the ring and covered him clean for the win.

Your winner, Kevin Thorn!

Thorn went after Dreamer, set him up and drilled him with Original Sin.  Thorn stalked around the ring.  Match was eh. We've been here and done this dance two dozen times.

Backstage, Johnny Nitro's press agent came out of the locker room.  The announcers said the press conference was coming next.

When we returned to the ring, Johnny Nitro's press agent, who announced Nitro had officially changed his name.  The former Nitro came out with a new hairstyle, new theme music and a rock star like suit.  He looked like The Doors' Jim Morrison or Billy Crudup in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, minus the goatee.  He said that he came out tonight to make a statement and that his name is not Johnny Nitro.

His new name is....John Morrison.  He said that he's been given that name at birth and since then he's been destined to do great things.  He could walk at four months and could run at eight.  He skipped first grade and went right to third grade.  He was elected to High School Presidency and wasn't even running.  He said he was a true champion.  He said he was the new face of ECW and destroyed Tommy Dreamer last week and would do the same to CM Punk at the Great American Bash.

He said that speaking of names, what does CM Punk mean.  He asked what CM stands for and suggested it means, Chasing Men or Common Man or Cookie Monster.  Morrison's delivery is really good.  He said that a Punk is a disrespectful little man with lame tattoos that didn't know his place.

CM Punk's music hit and he came to the ring.  Morrison said that he hoped Punk wasn't here to confront him because this was a press conference not a wrestling match.  He said he wasn't going to lay a finger on Punk until he beats him senseless at the Bash.  He then asked Punk how he came up with his clever little ring name.  Before Punk could answer, Morrison hit him with a ring, then struck him with the microphone, breaking it.  Morrison nailed Punk with a corkscrew neckbreaker, then arrogantly put his sunglasses on and posed over the prone Punk, then walked out.

Morrison headed to the locker room, turning to look back at Punk.  Punk, holding his neck, began to get up as they went off the air.

The last segment was the best thing on the show by far.  Nitro's makeover was handled absolutely perfect.

2009 - The National Wrestling Alliance announced that they would induct the late Dennis Coralluzo into the NWA Hall of Fame at the 9/26 Coralluzo Memorial Tournament in Wayne, New Jersey.  In a press release, NWA Executive Director, Robert K. Trobich commented, "I am pleased to announce that the late Dennis Coralluzzo is second person we are going to honor this year. Dennis was one-of-a-kind. To describe him as colorful just doesn't do him justice. But he was also an excellent promoter, who put together great matches and had an eye for young talent. Most importantly, however, Dennis was an almost indispensable ally in keeping the NWA alive in the 90s. One of my fondest memories was journeying to Atlanta with Dennis to convince WCW that the failure to admit Dennis to the NWA (which they did not want) would result in decades of legal action and fees. Dennis and I were, of course, bluffing, but it worked. Once in, Dennis was instrumental in bringing in new members and raising the NWA profile. From appearing on WWF television, to accompanying Dan "The Beast" Severn to the ring in an early UFC bout, proudly holding the NWA Worlds Championship aloft, Dennis was NWA to the end and has a rightful place in the NWA Hall of Fame.”

2009 - TNA ran Johnson City, TN.  Brent filed the following live report:

Match 1:  Chris Sabin d. Jay Lethal & Suicide in a 3-way match

This was an outstanding match and great way to start the show.  One of the highlights was when Lethal went to the top rope for the elbow drop, Suicide jumped off the top of an adjacent turnbuckle and dropkicked Lethal in the head, sending him to the floor.  Sabin pinned Suicide for the win.

A funny moment occurred after the match when Suicide tried to take a drink of water from a bottle on the ringside table, only to shake his head in disgust when he couldn't drink through the mask.

Match 2:  Daffney d. Rocka Khan

I like Daffney, but I didn't have high hopes for a singles match involving Khan.  She seems to have improved somewhat, though.  It appeared that Khan might have been injured at the end of the match.  It looked like Daffney was attempting a belly to belly or bridge suplex, but Khan didn't flip all the way over and came down hard face first.  Several backstage personnel came out and helped her to the back.

Match 3:  Matt Morgan d. Kip James

This match was much better than it probably sounds on paper.  I was very surprised at the huge reaction that Kip James received.  He was very over with the crowd.  Morgan won with the Carbon Footprint out of nowhere while James was in control.  Kip seemed very appreciative of the reaction he got from the crowd, and stayed in the ring for several minutes after the match acknowledging the fans.

Match 4:  Beer Money Inc. d. Scott Steiner & Booker T

I thought it was odd that before the match, Scott Steiner promised that he and Booker would win the Tag Titles at the PPV on Sunday, even though the match they were getting ready to compete in was also a title match.

There was a bit of stalling and comedy spots early in the match, but it was a good match once they got going.  One cool spot occurred when Storm hit the Superkick on Booker while Storm was standing on the ring apron.  Beer Money got the win after hitting a double-team move on Steiner.

Match 5:  Taylor Wilde d. Madison Rayne

This was a solid match, but the crowd was surprisingly quiet considering it was a very hot crowd for all of the other matches.  Wilde won with a roll-up.

Match 6:  AJ Styles d. Samoa Joe

This was a great, stiff match.  AJ won with the Pele.

Additional Thoughts:

*  I'm terrible at estimating crowd sizes, but I'd guess the attendance was around 1,000-1,500.

*  Jeremy Borash does an excellent job of keeping the crowd pumped up throughout the show.  I've seen much larger crowds that weren't nearly as loud.

*  The event was very fan-friendly.  They gave out backstage passes to the loudest fans throughout the show, and they also had a contest during intermission where you could send a text message to a specified number to win backstage passes.  Borash took a video of the fans around ringside between matches and said it would be posted on TNA's website.  Several wrestlers came out after the show to sign autographs at ringside.

*  Either Don West works for Atlas Security now, or they have a guy that could pass for Don's twin brother.

*  Kurt Angle was advertised for the main event for several weeks, but he wasn't on the final card that TNA released the week of the show.

* Jeremy Borash said that although this was TNA's first time in Johnson City, it wouldn't be the last.  He teased that TNA's next show in JC would be a PPV, but  I can't imagine them running a PPV in such a small market.  Freedom Hall did host a WCW Nitro several years ago, however.

*  I thoroughly enjoyed the show.  I'm looking forward to seeing TNA in person again.

Ricky asks Layla if she thinks the crowd wants to see her dance. Ricky says that they need motivation and inspiration. He asks the last time the Heat were any good. He tells Layla that her dancing won’t help them, but he will help them. He says that he is in Miami to rally up the fans. 2014 - TNA broadcast Impact Wrestling.  Stu Carapola filed the following TV report:

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling Report here on PWInsider.com!

Kurt Angle welcomes us to the show, reintroduces the six-sided ring, and calls New York City the wrestling mecca of the world. He throws it to Taz, who puts Angle over for knowing about wrestling, and he says the fans know how important it is to be able to bring it in the ring. He was lucky enough to be part of the most important wrestling revolution in the world many years ago, and he remembers when they were turning that corner, and that locker room is full of those kind of men and women who have that look and intensity. He says the mood is about to change, and he tells everyone to beat him if he can and survive if he lets them.

Bully Ray comes out to the ring with Tommy Dreamer as Mike Tenay wonders if tonight is the night he will make good on his promise to put Dixie Carter through a table. He puts the fans over for their reaction, and says that tonight, TNA is going to grab the wrestling world by the balls and rip them off. He made the fans a promise, a guarantee, that he would put Dixie Carter through a table. The fans say they want tables, and Bubba says he's going to give them to them. Tommy says they all got their first national exposure in 1997, and he's thankful and blessed for the fans' support since then. This feels like a new Madhouse of Extreme, and everyone in the back is ready to go balls to the wall for them.

Ethan Carter III comes out with Rhino and tells Bubba that he's going to put her through a table over his dead body. Rhino tells the fans to be quiet because he is a Carter, and EC3 says this is a typical New York crowd as they chant that he can't wrestle. They get in the ring and Dreamer tells EC3 that this isn't a PG product and New York has never been a politically correct crowd. He says New Yorkers believe in letting their actions do the talking, and he and Bubba attack EC3 and Rhino. The tag match starts us off after this break!

Aries leaves to get ready, and Angle looks after him and goes "That's one tough kid."

X Division Gauntlet Match

Austin Aries unfortunately comes in at #1, and his first opponent is Eddie Edwards. Talk about two guys who got over huge in New York during their ROH days. Not much happens until Manik comes in at #3, and he uses his speed to outmaneuver both guys until Aries hits an STO and hits the power drive elbow. Davey Richards is in at #4 and the Wolves work together to take out both Aries and Manik. They flatten Manik with a version of Total Elimination as DJ Z comes in at #5. All heck breaks loose for a bit until Manik hits DJ Z with a flying headscissors that takes both men over the top and to the floor. Three men left to come in as we go to commercial.

MVP & Kenny King vs Team Canada

Kenny King starts off and gets beaten up by both Young and Roode for a couple of minutes, then gets Roode down and MVP asks for the tag in. He hobbles around like his knee is still bad and rolls out to the floor when Roode gets back up, then comes back in and King blind tags himself in and winds up right back in trouble. MVP nails Young from the outside and his team finally gets control as they trap Young in their half of the ring. Young finally catches King with a top rope crossbody and tags in Roode who finally gets MVP in the ring and catches him in the Crippler Crossface. King breaks that up and MVP grabs one of his crutches and nails Roode with it to cause a DQ.

She says she's sick of Bubba, calls him a fat St. Bernard, and says that unlike Bubba, she bites when she barks and she's already put Bubba through two tables.

Kurt Angle finds Austin Aries backstage and says he never doubted that Aries could do it, and Aries says that Angle is the first person in his position to ever say that. Now the choice is in his hands and he has a week to think about how he's going to change the world again.

It's main event time!

Hardy manages to use his speed to knock Lashley out to the floor and takes him out with a slingshot crossbody. Hardy tries to use the ring steps, but Lashley sends Hardy crashing through them instead as we go to commercial.

We're back and Lashley is absolutely pummeling Hardy. Hardy fights his way out of a torture rack and starts coming back with the usual. Hardy hits the Whisper In The Wind, but Lashley pops him up in the air and drops him face first on the top turnbuckle. Hardy escapes the powerslam and hits the Twist of Fate twice, hits the Swanton full on, and Lashley kicks out at 2. Lashley tries going out to the floor, but Hardy goes right after him and repeatedly smashes his face into the steps. Hardy leaves Lashley laying on the steps and goes for a Swanton, but Lashley moved and Hardy hit HARD on the steps. Lashley sends Hardy back into the ring, tears him in half with the spear, and that's all she wrote.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

Awesome, awesome main event! Lashley is a hell of a monster and proved again why he's the right guy to hold that title right now. This capped off a terrific night of wrestling and the best episode of Impact I've seen all year.

Kurt Angle is backstage to cut a promo about Bobby Lashley, but stops when he sees Dixie Carter and asks her if she's out of her mind for showing up after Bubba warned her not to. Dixie says she's sick of listening to Bubba's mouth and is going out there to talk to her people.

We come back from commercial as Angle comes into Lashley's locker room and says he's sick of MVP's crap and there will be no more nights off. He books MVP to face Bully Ray in a falls count anywhere match next week, says MVP better show up, and tells Lashley and King to stay out of it.

We go to the ring where Spud introduces Dixie Carter, who comes out with EC3 and Rhino. She gets the mic and starts making fun of the New York fans and our accent, says she realizes why everyone says New Yorkers are always so angry and foul mouthed: because they live in this dump of a city. She talks about how everyone tells her she can save wrestling if she only changed, but she says that you can't change perfection and she showed that to Tommy Dreamer. As for Bully Ray, she is embarrassed that the fans here even cheer him. He's a low class, lowbrow, hardcore kind of C-rated star. She should be the hardcore star because she's the one who has but Bubba through a table so many times, and she's going to keep putting him through table after table. Bubba's music hits and Dixie immediately hides behind her people. Bubba and Dreamer come out with a table that has Dixie's name spraypainted on it, and they rush the ring, clear out EC3 and Rhino, then Dreamer sets the table up as Dixie hides behind Spud. Bubba tosses Spud, and Dixie is trapped! Ethan comes in and nails Dreamer to save his Aunt Dee, and they start to head for the hills when the Team 3D music hits...and here comes Devon! He brings EC3 back to the ring and they hit WHAZZUP on EC3. Devon gets the table, and they give EC3 the 3D through the table. Team 3D hits the corners and fires up the crowd as we call it a week.
