BIG MATCH ANNOUNCED FOR ROH FIELD OF HONOR, DOES NXT RUNNING BROOKLYN HAVE ANY EFFECT ON ROH AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2015-07-07 10:49:33
As Dave Scherer wrote, Ring of Honor announced a pretty amazing match for their 8/22 Field of Honor event in Brooklyn, NY today - IWGP champion Kazuchika Okada vs. Roderick Strong. That is must see stuff in my opinion.

For those who have asked if ROH will move their start-time now that WWE NXT is running at the same time, that won't be happening. For one, ROH has announced the date and time for months and has moved a pretty sizable number of advance tickets, so there's no way they are going to inconvenience their paying fans, plus they'd also have to coordinate with their partners on the show The Brooklyn Cyclones. The other factor is that there's probably not one wrestler working that show that's gong to want to take bumps outside on a wrestling ring in the middle of an August day. They might as well take bumps in a frying pan.

Nanae Takahashi is working the 7/17 Vegas ROH event as she just happens to be in the United States and the timing worked out. A rep contacted someone at ROH about the idea and they were able to work it out. She'll be wrestling ODB at the show.

Although ROH noted Austin Aries was the only two-time ROH champion, Jay Briscoe has of course done it as well.
