By Mike Johnson on 2014-07-20 08:00:00

July 20th

On this day in history in ....

1963 - Verne Gagne defeats The Crusher in Minneapolis, Minnesota to win the AWA World Heavyweight Title for the fourth time. Gagne also won the Omaha version of the World Title, which Crusher had won from Fritz Von Erich five months earlier.

1973 - Jack Brisco defeats Harley Race in Houston, Texas to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title, ending Race's first reign after less than four months. It would be over three years before Race would be champion again. This is the first of two runs with the title for Brisco.

1992 - Eddie Gilbert defeats Ricky Morton in Memphis, Tennessee to win the USWA Unified Heavyweight Title for the second time. On the same card, Brian Christopher defeats Tom Prichard for the USWA Southern Heavyweight Title, ending Prichard's fifth reign as champion and starting his own third run with the belt.

1992 - The Natural Disasters (Earthquake & Typhoon) defeat Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase & IRS) to win the WWF World Tag Team Title in Worcester, Massachusetts.

1998 - The Monday Night Wars between WWF's Raw and WCW's Nitro raged on, with WWF barely getting a win with a 5.0 rating to WCW's 4.7 rating.

Raw featured Kane & Mankind defeated Steve Austin by DQ in the main event, Intercontinental Champion The Rock defeating X-Pac by DQ, and D'Lo Brown defeating Triple H for the WWF European Title. There was also a Brawl For All match, as Steve Williams (a favorite to win the competition) defeated Quebecer Pierre.

WCW countered with Scott Hall & The Giant defeating Sting & Lex Luger for the WCW World Tag Team Championship, Curt Hennig defeating Lex Luger, and Bret Hart defeating Diamond Dallas Page for the vacant United States Championship (the title was vacated by Goldberg when he won the World Title). There was also a strong International presence on the show, as Masahiro Chono & The Great Muta defeated Disco Inferno & Alex Wright, Yuji Nagata defeated Perry Saturn and Ultimo Dragon defeated Tokyo Magnum.

1999 - The Suicide Blondes (Rip Rogers & Jason Lee) defeat Flash Flannagan & Trailer Park Trash to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Title in Louisville, Kentucky.

2000 - Tatsuhito Takaiwa defeats Jushin Liger in Sapporo, Japan to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. This ended Liger's eleventh (and to date, last) reign as champion. The closest to Liger's record is Koji Kanemoto, with four reigns.

2003 - At a WWE House show in San Jose, California at the HP Pavilion Triple H and Goldberg met in one-on-one action for the first time, with Triple H winning via pinfall after a low blow in a match that saw both Ric Flair and Randy Orton interfere.

2007 - Memphis Wrestling ran Tunica, MS.  Brian Tramel filed the following report:

LAWLER CONTINUES TO WORK AN ANGLE

----Just before intermission at the show, Hollywood Jimmy Blaylock came out to ringside and had party hats and noise makers. He said it was a “bon voyage” party for Jerry Lawler. They called out Lawler as Blaylock said he had a big surprise for him. A "police officer" came out to serve papers to Lawler. Lawler took the papers and put them in his tights and then gave the officer a piledriver. I was told it was a good skit. Lawler continues to work the whole Sal Corrente incident as an angle.

THE RESULTS

----"The Genocide Agents" [Maxx Corbin/Albino Rhino] beat "Naughty By Nature" [Rude/Pokerface] with help from Kevin White…"Too Cool 2" [Tim Grind/Flex] retained the Southern Tag Team Titles beating Tatt2/Dustin Starr. The finish involved Tatt2 getting pinned…Kevin White beat Spellbinder…TLC Match: Derrick King retained the JR Title Match by beating Johnny Dotson…Spellbinder won the battle royal eliminating Mr. Hughes leaving him in the ring with Corbin/Albino. They ran at him and he ducked sending them over the top rope…Sid Vicious beat Jerry Lawler with from Ron Rage. Lawler was making his comeback, when Johnny Rotten ran out. Lawler goes to hit Rotten and Rage comes thru the crowd and gives Sid brass knuckles to hit Lawler for the win. Vicious/Rage/Rotten beat Lawler down after the match with NBN trying to make the save and getting beat down also.

NOTES:

----280 people in the crowd with a gate close to $5,600…Security was real tight with scanning of tickets and hand stamp. Everyone HAD TO HAVE A TICKET to get in the building. The guys that gave Sal Corrente so much hell and Sal got into it with were there in their same seats…The finish of the White/Spell match had Spell with a in the scorpion death lock on White and after a ref bump and one of the Agents used a taser gun on him. Before the match, Spell did some magic while White and Agents were holding the Skull pole. Spell's magic made him taken over the pole while they held it. Shango Sting???...Not much of a TLC match as no table was broken, but DK used a chair to win…Lawler has the balls to actually do this angle with him piledriving the “officer”…

2008 - WWE broadcasting the Great American Bash PPV.  Richard Trionfo filed the following PPV report:

We begin the pay per view with a look back at the greatest moment for Vickie Guerrero and Edge, only to be ruined by Triple H’s special footage of Edge with the wedding planner. Wedded bliss is not the only thing that has been destroyed. The JBLimo was ruined by Cryme Tyme and John Cena. Then Bradshaw tried to destroy John Cena only to see Cena escape. CM Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but he will have to deal with the man who helped him win the title tonight, Batista.

Punk talks about how Batista came to help him against Kane. Batista thinks that he will win. People did not think that he was supposed to make it into the WWE but he made it and won the ECW Title. He is not a fluke. Punk says that he is in the business of proving everybody wrong. He plans to be the champion next week. He says that he is not Batista, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, or Bret Hart. He is CM Punk, the World Champion.

2008 - Former WWF champion Ultimate Warrior made a signing appearance prior to the PPV at the Marriot in Uniondale, Long Island right next to the Nassau Coliseum.  The signing drew in the area of 100-150 fans paying, at minimum, $55 per autograph.  The timing of the signing was a really shrewd marketing move since fans who were attending the PPV could have a chance to meet Warrior prior to going to the show.  WWE itself didn't feel the same.  At the signing, a legal letter from the company was posted publicly.  In the letter, the company was upset about the timing of the event, feeling it was trading off their scheduling, which you really can't argue.  The company also was upset that Warrior was advertised as appearing with his WWF championship belt, feeling that was their intellectual property.  That may be a grey area, since they don't own the rights to the "WWF" letters and if the WWF championship belt was Warrior's personal property from during his tenure with the company, it's his to do what he pleases iwith.

2008 - There were also two arrests at the PPV. Newsday reported that two men made their way backstage and attempted to make off with several WWE chairs (likely the commemorative ones that the company gives to those who purchase ringside seating at PPVs).  When a WWE employee attempted to stop the theft after they reached the parking lot, he was hit over the head with a bottle and bit on the back.  Keith Powell and Timothy Vandewater were charged with burglary while Vandewater was also charged with assault.

2009 - World Wrestling Entertainment filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought against them in April 2009 by Joe Hamilton (who wrestled as the Assassin) and his company, Deep South Wrestling in the State of Georgia, claiming that WWE had breached their contract with DSW.   In their motion, WWE claimed that Hamilton and DSW "failed to state a claim upon which relief may be granted."  World Wrestling Entertainment claimed in their filing  that Hamilton and DSW have failed to address any alleged wrongdoing on WWE's part in regard to the end of the DSW relationship.  WWE claimed in the 25 page filing that Hamilton's lawsuit was, "a misguided attempt to use litigation to lash out against WWE over disappointment with WWE's decision to terminate the parties' business relationship."   Hamilton's version of events was that he and DSW were "fully compliant" with their contractual agreement with World Wrestling Entertainment. That partnership saw Hamilton personally paid a salary of $80,000 and Deep South Wrestling, the company, paid $80,000 to provide developmental training for WWE talents. They were to also provide a TV outlet, which the lawsuit claims was provided and aired in the Southeastern United States and Canada (I believe on The Fight Network)  for those talents as part of a "talent exchange program".  In the suit, Hamilton noted that he had set up a series of live DSW events to be performed at the Six Flags park in Georgia and had set up additional events that would have benefited The American Cancer Society and M.A.A.D.A. for the summer of 2007.  In the case of the Six Flags events, Hamilton had arranged for WWE to send talents for each of those live shows.  In the April filing, Hamilton claimed that WWE planned to sever their relationship with DSW all along, yet acted as if nothing was wrong by arranging talent for the Six Flags event.  Several days before the first Six Flags event was to take place, WWE officials (Mike Bucci and John Laurinaitis, although they are not named in the suit) arrived on 4/18/07 to inform Hamilton that WWE's was severing its agreement with DSW.  The first Six Flags date was set for 4/22/07.  Hamilton's suit noted that WWE's decision prevented DSW from performing on the scheduled events that summer, causing DSW liability damages in the amount of $320,000 and Hamilton personal damages to the tune of $56,000.   WWE responded to that claim in today's filing, commenting,  writing "WWE is not alleged to have done anything, much less anything unlawful" in regard to any third-parties that Hamilton and DSW had gone into business with. WWE noted that the claim was, "lacking any basis for liability against WWE".  Hamilton alleged that the DSW deal required WWE to provide DSW and himself with 90 days notice that the deal was ending, which did not happen.  He also claims WWE "arranged through an intentional and calculated method" to time their officials' arrival at DSW's place of business without providing notice to Hamilton or DSW.  Hamilton alleged WWE "made every effort" to prevent him from knowing they were coming to the premises as their "plans were to remove all personal and computer information" without anyone from DSW being present.
Hamilton's lawsuit alleged that when WWE severed their ties on, they "removed wrestling rings, seating, computer hardware, software, and information belonging to DSW."  The suit noted that "shared personnel" were informed they were being transferred (to OVW and later FCW) and should have "no further dealing" with Hamilton and DSW.
WWE's response to interfering with the wrestlers and DSW is that the company couldn't have because there were no contracts between DSW and the wrestlers that WWE could have interfered with and that WWE was aware of any business relationships the wrestlers had with DSW, since WWE assigned the wrestlers there in the first place.  WWE also states that Hamilton and DSW fail to present any arguments that WWE induced others not to work with and for DSW, especially since the talents were under contract to WWE to begin with.  WWE did not respond to the other claims mentioned above.  One of Hamilton's claims in the April filing was that he suffered from emotional distress from the situation.  In April Hamilton claimed WWE's "intentional actions were intended to cause Hamilton severe emotional distress."   The lawsuit requested that Hamilton personally and DSW, as a company, recover all damages arising from WWE's breach of contract and that Hamilton recover damages arising from "Defendants willful and intentional infliction of emotional distress" as well as any punitive damages ruled by a jury.
WWE tried to throw the emotional distress claims out the window in today's filing, noting that Hamilton did not file the emotional distress claim within two years, as legally required.  Hamilton's April 2009 filing came two days after the cut-off.  WWE also stated that in addition to the late filing, that claim, "must be dismissed as a matter of law because even accepting all factual allegations are true for purpose of this motion to dismiss, WWE's alleged actions do not rise to the level of extreme and outrageous conduct necessary" for such a claim to be filed legally. WWE closed their motion noting that Hamilton's breach of contract allegations are "fatally deficient" since they do not provide any actual allegations beyond WWE's decision to sever the DSW territory.  WWE's motion claimed that Hamilton claims a breach of contract without "allegations as to any contractual obligation that WWE supposedly breached."  In the end, the suit was settled out of court.

2010 - WWE broadcast NXT.  Richard Trionfo filed the following TV Report:

We start off tonight’s show with Matt Striker doing a test run of the Obstacle Course that will be the physical challenge for tonight since we need someone to get immunity before next week’s second elimination.

We are live on tape from Little Rock, Arkansas and your announcers are Michael ‘A Man From Hope’ Cole and Josh ‘Where is Big Rock’ Mathews. Your hosts are Matt ‘No Obstacle is too big’ Striker and Ashley Valence.

We start off with the VIP Lounge starring Percy Watson’s pro Montel Vontavious Porter. Porter says that it means that big things popping and little things stopping. Porter says that he would normally have the party starting, but he has to be serious because he has an issue to address with his guest. Porter brings out his rookie, Percy Watson and he makes his way to the ring as only Percy can.

Porter wants to cut to the chase. He tells Percy that what he attempted to do last week didn’t take courage, guts or spirit. It did take initiative. He wanted to smash Percy’s glasses, but he thought about it and he realized that they are a lot alike. The MVP that debuted on Smackdown a few years ago would have done the same thing. Porter says that he has learned a lot and he wants to know if Percy learned anything.

Percy says that he respects Porter and he has learned a lot. The go getter mentality took over and he went about things the wrong way. He says that he sincerely apologizes. Porter asks Percy if he learned a lesson and if the apology was sincere. Porter says that it is water under the bridge.

Matt Striker comes out and he has his old music back. Matt reminds us that there will be an elimination next week so he wants to know why Percy should be ranked number one. Porter says that if you want to be a superstar, you need to have a complete package. You need to have the appearance, the athleticism, the charisma. He says that Percy has all of them. Percy says that he is a go getter, a heavy hitter, and he is not a quitter. He says that he has worked hard every day of his life to get where he is. He knows about fighting, scratching, and clawing to get what he wants.

Striker cuts off Percy and then Cody Rhodes ‘Dashes’ out with Husky Harris. Matt asks Cody and Husky the same question about Husky. Cody says that Husky could use some grooming advice, but Husky would be a great representative for the WWE Universe. He says that Husky weighs 300 pounds, just like most of the people in the crowd. However, they can’t run a 4.9 40. He says that Husky is a tank with a Ferrari engine.

Husky says that the WWE has been full of bodybuilders and six packs, but he is not that. He says that he doesn’t sing and dance. He isn’t a miniature midget ninja. All he is is real. Porter tells Husky that he is real fat.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at Lucky Cannon. Henry says that Lucky has impressed him because he is hungry and he has a good knowledge of the business. Kofi says that Lucky has a lot of potential. Layla and Michelle say that Lucky has a good look and they point out that he has the World’s Strongest Man training him. Porter says that Cannon is tall, good looking, and can move; but there are a lot of people like that. Morrison says that he doesn’t get a feel for who he is in the ring. Ryder calls him plain and doesn’t see anything special about him. Miz says that almost forgot to talk about Lucky because he is forgettable. Ryder says that you need to take advantage of every opportunity. Cody says that Lucky has the size and athletic background so you can’t count him out yet. Henry says that Lucky is willing to pay his dues. He sees that Lucky has a long way to go but he is on the right path.

Henry says that Michael looks like he is happy out there. Kofi says that Michael has the passion when you watch him. Porter says that Michael has the fire and spark in his eyes. Michelle and Layla says that he is as close to perfect as you can get, but he isn’t flawless. Cody says that is less than perfect is that Michael was talking about how he is bringing back ruthless aggression to WWE, but arm drags, drop kicks, and leap frogs are not ruthless aggression. Morrison says that he hasn’t seen much from Michael in terms of charisma and personality. Maybe it is because he hasn’t had the opportunity to talk. Miz says that Michael seems cocky and thinks that because daddy was a pro, that he will become a pro. Miz says that is not going to happen. Miz says that daddy was good, but you are mediocre. Cody doesn’t know if Michael will go to whatever level it will take in order to win. Porter wants to see how the it factor grows. Kofi says that Michael has a chip on his shoulder and that is a good thing.

We go to commercial.

They didn’t know who any of the guys were but they wanted to watch Eli. He is a long term investment.

The screen showed a JCW banner until about 7:15 and then switched to a live shot with the countdown music.

Lots of new banners and a new entrance.  It even sports a disco ball, is Disco Machine here?

As DJ Clay, Shaggy 2 Dope, and KG Kevin Gill are introduced...you can really tell that they spent som serious cash on this new entrance.  Man this looks really good.  These iPPVs just keep getting better.

KG runs down the card for the night.  The guys said they actually turned away people from the venue because of fire code.  They said that this venue used to be a church.

As we get ready for the first match, Upchuck the Clown (ring announcer) leads out the blonde ring girl with the "Match #1" Card

Match #1 -  Special Handicap Match:   Kongo Kong with Truth Martini vs. Bumpin' Ugly #1, #2, and #3

Truth takes the mic and says he has something to say.  He gets a "You Suck D**k" chant.  Truth says he has not been a happy man lately.  He says he is mad because Butler Jeeves is no longer the JCW Champion.  He is also mad because the strongest force in JCW, Kongo Kong, hasn't gotten the respect he deserves.  Truth says some people think he isn't playing with a full deck, but he plays with nobody.  Everyone must respect Kongo Kong and tonight they will demonstrate his awesome power tonight.

All three Uglies attack Kong before the bell and dominate with the numbers game and beat Kongo Kong down to the mat.  The Uglies do some double team work and actually get a pin, but Kong gets mad and fights his way up.  Head buts and clotheslines to the Uglies in the corners.  Kong hits a chokes slam, big power slam, and a hits a splash in the corner.  Now Kong goes to the top rope and hits a big splash for the 3 count.

Your Winner, Kongo Kong!

Truth and Kong celebrate in the ring and Kong holds Truth and The Book of Truth on his shoulders.  Kong is a very large man.

The announcers talk about 2 Tuff Tony and how it took him 13 years to win the JCW Championship on the last iPPV and show a video about how it happened.

Match #2 -  The Weedman with Officer Colt Cabana vs. Rob Conway

Weedman came out to his normal music smoking a joint and Colt's music interupts and Colt makes his way to the ring with a mic.  He accuses a member of the crowd of being a prostitue and then yells at the Weedman.  "F**K the Police" chant.  Colt accuses Weedman of hitting him in the head last week and blaming it on CM Punk.  Colt then takes out the hood in a plastic bag and says that Weedman's finger prints are on it so he cuffs Weedman.  Officer Colt says he is gonna enjoy taking Weedman to jail and personally raping him in the ass but first he is going to make him fight a match in handcuffs.  Colt announces Rob Conway.

Weedman avoids Conway but finally gets caught with knee strikes in the corner.  Conway takes Weedman to the center of the ring and hits some big uppercuts and stiff forearms to the face.  Conway stomps Weedman on the mat.  Weedman gets up and manages a few shots but is hit with a power bomb.  Conway with shots ot the head while Weedman is down.  The annoucers remind us that Conway is only here for the money is a goon for hire in JCW.  Conway contiues to dominate and hits a short arm clothes line and locks in a sleeper.  Weedman fights his way to his feet but Conway locks his legs and takes Weedman down while still holding the choke.  The ref calls for the bell.

Your winner, by submission, Rob Conway!

After the match, Officer Colt pays Rob Conway cash and takes the mic.  Colt says the money is courtesy of the fine tax payers in Michigan and tells Weedman he is on traffic duty.   Colt says he has hired a new man of the law.  When he needs him he will call on him to beat 2 Tuff Tony to become the JCW Champion because "I AM THE LAW".  Damn Colt is funny!

Things Gordon Solie never said: "That makes me want to throw up out of my a**hole".  Seriously!

Match #3 -  Sabu with Charlie Brown vs. U-Gene with Zach Gowen

I always pop for "from Bombay, Michigan".  The announcers wonder why a legend like Sabu would have the services of Charlie Brown and turned his back on the Juggalos.  Zach grabs a headset and joins the guys on commentary.  Sabu is letting his hair grow back it looks like.

They start the match with a tie up and clean break.  Sabu then hits a forearm and throw U-Gene into the ropes and hits and elbow.  U-Gene then hits a hiptoss and takes Sabu by surprise.  U-Gene with a wristlock and Sabu counters.  Sabu then sets in with an armbar but U-Gene reverses with a roll up for a two count and tries to ride Sabu like a horsey.  Sabu is mad and tries to re group.  They lock up and U-Gene gets a take down, Sabu fights up and forces U-Gene to the corner with a knee to the gut.  U-Gene takes Sabu around to hit all the turnbuckles.  U-Gene hits a big boot and leg drop Hogan style.  U-Gene winds up for Sweet Chin Music but Sabu hits a chop to his throat and gets a quick pin.

Your Winner, Sabu!

Match #4 -  Amber O'Neal vs. Randy The Ring Girl with Britney Force

The announcers note that this is the first ever women's match in JCW.  Britney takes the mic and says that Randy is ready to kick the s**t out of Amber even though she is not finished with her wrestling training.

Randy takes down Amber with a spear and shots to the head.  Now a big toss by the hair a couple times.  Randy hits a suplex for a 2 count.

Things Gordon Solie never said "I like t***ies."

Now Amber starts to take over and hits a big facebuster.  Amber continues to put the boots to Randy and chokes her on the bottom rope for a 4 count.  Amber hits a suplex and gets a 2 count.  Amber with a knife edge chop and a big kick to the back.  Amber gets a pin but Randy kicks out at 2.  Amber pulls her up and throws Randy into the corner and puts a shoulder to the mid section.  Amber takes her to the other corner and hits the Booty Bop.  Interesting move.  Amber drags Randy by the hair and hits a big Russian leg sweep and had a pin but pulls Randy up at a 2 count.  She hits a backdrop on Randy and again pulls her up at a 2 count.  Now Britney Force throws in the towel and Amber is named the winner.

Your Winner, Amber O'Neal!

After the match, Randy gets upset with her trainer as they leave.

Match #5 - Special 3 Way Match: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Superstar Bill Martel vs. Zach Gowen with U-Gene

At this point, I must say it is odd to be watching wresting and see shots of stained glass church windows.

Really funny moment.  When Bill Martel comes out he stops at the announce table.  He says he really likes the guys but they have very filthy mouths and gives them each a cake of soap to wash out their mouths.  That was hillarious.  U Gene is gonna be on commentary...oh good lord.

Jimmy Jacobs starts the match by grabbing the mic.  He tells the guys that while they wrestle he is going the share his feelings in poetry form.  Oh this is great.  Gowen catches Jacobs with an elbow and hits a cork screw over the top rope onto  Jacobs and Martel.  Gowen tries for a sling shot leg drop but Jacobs gets out of the way.  Jacobs takes out Martel on the outside and Gowen starts to get hot.  U Gene is actually pretty hillarious...its hard to do this coverage.  Ok, now Martel catches Gowen on the tope rope and gets a 2 count.  Martel rakes the boot laces across the face of Gowen.  Now Jacobs takes the mic again to read his poem but Martel stops him.  They both get a drop kick from Gowen.  Jacobs and Martel exchange blows while Gowen watches in the corner.  U Gene is flat out hillarious.  Gowen gets a figure three leg lock on Martel but Jacobs breaks it up.  Jacobs clears the ring and grabs the mic to again try and read his poetry.  I am laughing so hard.  Gowen trips up Jacobs and Martel gets a roll up for a 2 count.  Martel with a clothesline on Jacobs for a 2 count.  Martel misses a leg drop from the second rope and now Jacobs with a suplex for a 2 count on Martel.  Announcers would good to note this isn't a 3 way dance since its one pin fall.  Jacobs now to the top rope and Gowen crotches him.  Martel catches Gowen and now sets up for a superplex on Jacobs while Gowen hits the moonsault on Martel for the pin

Your Winner, Zach Gowen!

This was a really good and REALLY funny match.

After the match. Gowen says "That is how you do it, U-Gene" and U-Gene gets upset and Jacobs is tweeting as he leaves the ring.

Rhino reverses and gets Breyer into the corner.  Rhino now with a snap suplex.  Rhino sets up for the gore but Truth steps in the way.  Breyer tries a shot from behind but Rhino saw it coming.  Breyer then hits a backstabber out of knowhere for a 1 count.  Breyer hits a kick to the back and tries to keep Rhino down.  Breyer distracts the ref while Truth strangles Rhino on the ropes.  Breyer gets a 2 count.  Breyer hits a big knee drop for a 2 count.  Breyer keeps hitting Rhino with shots but he won't stay down.  Breyer locks in a sleeper but Rhino quickly battles out.  Rhino into the ropes and Breyer hits an elbow that knocks Rhino out of the ring.  Breyer drags Rhino back in the ring for a  2 count.  Breyer applies a front face lock again to try and keep Rhino down but he powers up.  Rhino gets in some shots and sends Breyer to the corner.

He tries to follow up but gets a boot to the face.  Breyer now is going to the top rope for a moonsault but no one is home.  Rhino misses a gore and Breyer gets a roll up for a 2 count.  Stiff shots by Rhino and Kongo Kong hits the ring and takes out Breyer by mistake.  Rhino makes the cover for the pin.

Your winner, Rhino!

Special Music Guest Time...So time for a break...before that KG says that Britney Force will take on Amber ONeal in 2 weeks.

After the music, we come back with a video package about the formation of M.O.B.

Match #7 - The M.O.B. (Mean Old Bastards) Bull Pain and Tracy Smothers with Izza Bella Smothers vs. the JCW Tag Team Champions The Ring Rydas (Non Title Match)

Blue and Bull Pain in the ring.  Bull hits a DDT for the 3 count

Your winners, The Mean Old Bastards!

After the match the MOB continue to work over the Rydas until Necro Butcher and Mad Man Pondo (the #1 contenders) make the save.

Pondo takes the mic and says that the MOB pissed off the wrong guys.  He says no one knows revenge like he and the Necro Butcher.  Pondo says he's been in the business for 22 years and never been knocked out until Bull Pain.  Pondo says no matter where they go, they might be there waiting.

Between the matches, the announcer ponder that age old question. Why are there not two referees for a tag team match?

Match #8 -  Kevin Thorn vs. Corporal Robinson

Thorn is sporting that "new" look he had for ECW before he was released.  A cross of the vampire and 7even thing.  He looks pretty good.

The announcers remind us that the former champ is working his way back up the JCW ladder back to the title and is undefeated since he lost the title.  Now he takes on Kevin Thorn, billed as a seasoned veteran, in what I think is his first JCW match.  Not sure about that though.

Thorn attacks Corp before the bell outside the ring.  He works Corp over and they start brawling through the crowd.  Thorn has the advantage and they continue to brawl.  The announcers wonder if Thorn's vampire power is reduced because they are in an old church...oh that's funny.  Thorn now choking Corp out on the guard rail.  Corp finally manages to get in a few shots and then a series of headbutts.  Now Thorn is tossed in the ring.  Corp with a low drop kick and Thorn is hanging on the ropes.  Corp hits a baseball slide and sends Thorn into the guard rail.  I was just informed Thorn was at last year's gathering...so I was wrong.  Corp now with a chair and beating on Thorn.  Thorn tries a suplex out of the ring but Corp breaks it up for a big forearm of the ropes.  Corp is setting up 2 chairs in the ring.  Corp tries to suplex Thorn on the chairs but he fights out and Thorn puts Corp through the chairs.  Thorn makes his way to his feet and grabs a chair to drill Corp.  Now a few shots to the back of Corp with that chair.  Corp gets a low blow to stop the beating but Thorn throws the chair on his head.  Thorn now goes to the outside and is looking under the ring.  He finds a nice folding table.  Perhaps he is gonna sell 8x10s and T Shirts?  Thorn sets up the table in the corner of the ring and Corp is still down.  Thorn tries another chair shot but Corp gets in a few shots and then hits a super kick.  The kick puts Thorn into the table.  Then Corp runs and puts his kneed into the face of Kevin Thorn.  Corp sets up and hits a Boot Camp on the steel chair

 Your winner, Corporal Robinson!

The announcers note that Corp is the #1 contender, but Tony is the champ.  Juggalos don't fight Juggalos.

The announcers note that Corp is the #1 contender, but Tony is the champ.  Juggalos don't fight Juggalos.

Things Gordon Solie never said: "Put that on your f**ing Facebook!"

Deputy Weedman comes out with Colt but he sends him to the back and grabs the mic.  He tells the Weedman to get lost.  He tells DJ Clay to hit the music and Colt introduces US Marshall Adam Pearce.  Pearce has a great police costume on.  Nice surprise.  Colt and Adam arrest one of the gals for prostitution for giving hummers in the back.  The guys handcuff the girl to the corner.  Why don't I see fans in thongs when I go to wrestling shows?
Pearce and Colt really berate the gal they arrested and she is really playing along well.

Colt with some right hands to Toony and then hits one off the ropes for a 2 count.  Colt with 2 more pins for 2 counts and he's getting frustrated.  Now Colt has a chinlock.  Tony makes his way to his feet and Colt whips him off the ropes, Tony gets a sunset flip for a 2 count.  Colt now hits an elbow off the ropes and Tony is down.  Colt took his time to make the pin so he only gets a 2 count.  Colt continues to deliver right hands.

Tony goes for the guillotine leg drop and gets a 2 count.  Colt hits the ref by accident.  Tony gets a roll up but no ref.  Pearce comes in and now the two work over Tony.  Tony managed a double clothes line.  Pearce back to the outside of the ring.  Tony hits a moonsault off the middle of the 2nd rope on Cabana.  Pearce hands in a baton to Cabana.  Tony loads up the lighted fist.

He light it up but Pearce puts out the fire and then Colt clubs him in the skull.  The refs makes a very long slow 3 count.

Your Winner and NEW JCW Champion, Colt Cabana!

After the match, Cabana puts the JCW belt into an evidence bag.  Wonder if he'll put that belt in the fridge at Punk's place?

FINAL THOUGHTS:

A very good show overall.  The 3 way was a lot of fun and Colt is always good and Sabu was there.

More than worth $5.

The next show's main event is Corporal Robinson vs. JCW Champion Officer Colt Cabana.

2012 - The lawsuit filed against the National Wrestling Alliance in January 2012 was settled, paving the way for changes in the organization.

The ownership and management of the NWA brand will be transferred from the Pro Wrestling Organization LLC managed by Bob Trobich (who pretty much saved the promotion from going into destruction back in 1989 when the last true member of meaning, Jim Crockett Promotions was bought out by TBS, creating World Championship Wrestling) to a new LLC believed to be headed by R. Bruce Tharpe, Chris Ronquillo and Fred Rubenstein. Trobich is now out of the company altogether.

The other NWA members who were named personally in the lawsuit, Rubenstein, Bill Behrens, Dave Marquez, Michael Porter, Ken Taylor and Michael Sircy, will all remain with the organization as well.

In the lawsuit, Tharpe had alleged that the NWA was committing insurance fraud by having a policy that designates it covers gatherings for 100 members when obviously there have been events drawing well over that amount. Tharpe claimed in the suit that the NWA willingly misrepresented themselves to their insurance company, putting Tharpe and others at risk legally while using the policy. The lawsuit also claimed that the NWA fraudulently induced members to join the organization, including Tharpe, by claiming that they would be covered by the NWA's insurance and that Trobich, as NWA Executive Director, led a conspiracy among NWA members by discussing this and pushing other officers to go along with the alleged fraud. The suit also claims that the Board of Directors, in conjunction with Trobich, threatened members with fines and ejection from the NWA if questions regarding the insurance were pushed.

The belief among many within the NWA was that the lawsuit was designed to specifically target Trobich and based on his exit, that strategy appears to have been successful. Tharpe had only been an NWA member for a short time before filing the lawsuit.

Sources indicate that the new management believes they have a plan to revitalize the brand, which as of this writing, has very little national awareness and only one member (Dave Marquez' NWA Hollywood) really making any ripples beyond their local areas with recent NWA title changes and regular TV tapings.

As part of the settlement, the new LLC takes over full ownership of any and all NWA trademarks, brands, copyrights, logos, any as well as all NWA physical assets (title belts, etc.), online and social media accounts, and all intellectual property of the brand itself. All of the NWA business will now go through the new LLC as well.

As part of the agreements, promoters Michael Porter and Kenny McCoy will be conceding portions of their territories in central Tennessee and Kentucky to the new LLC. Beyond that, there are no changes among who is running what area and has "rights" to use the NWA area in that geographic boundary. They will still be required to pay annual dues, run only in their areas, respect the boundaries, etc.

The former NWA Board Members who agreed to the changes are now considered licensees of the NWA brand and will remain licensees in perpetuity as long as they remain members of the NWA in good standing.

As part of the settlement, none of the licensees are allowed to discuss the transfer of power, nor are any members allowed to disparage the organization or each other publicly under threat of having their membership revoked.

So, in one of those "only in wrestling" stories, a lawsuit that was filed alleging insurance fraud resulted in a complete change in power and direction for the remnants of the National Wrestling Alliance.

We begin with Rey Mysterio, who makes his way to the ring in his home town.

We see footage from Rey’s return on Monday night to attack Alberto Del Rio and hit the 619 on the man of destiny.

Rey says that it has almost been a year that he was injured and it took place in this arena. He says that he never lost hope. Now it feels good to be back with all of his friends, family, and his people in his home town to officially say that he is back.

He couldn’t wait so he came back on Raw. Because Alberto Del Rio was in the ring, it made things sweeter. He says that he has to admit . . .

Alberto Del Rio’s music interrupts Rey and Alberto comes out dressed quite dapper with Ricardo Rodriguez. Alberto welcomes back the Chihuahua. He tells Rey that he made a mistake coming back because he never should have picked a fight against him. The people might not remember, but Rey remembers that Alberto took him out a year ago and almost ended his career.

Dolph says that if the next World Champion is going to ruin Rey’s career, it will be due to him. Dolph tells Rey it is his lucky day because he isn’t out here for Rey. He is out here for Alberto.

Alberto says that he does not work for Dolph and he will not do the dirty job for Dolph to help him out. Alberto says that Dolph could be working for him along with his burra.

Rey wants to bring the discussion back and he tells Dolph and Alberto if the ladies want to settle things, they should shut up and take care of each other.

Dolph agrees with Rey but he says that they shouldn’t deal with each other.

Before Alberto or Dolph can do anything to Rey, Sheamus’ music plays and they forget that he has to walk to the ring so they stop their attempt to attack Rey.
