DARREN’S WIN-LOSS RECORDS COLUMN: WEEK 12

Welcome to Week 12 of 2014. Now, to this week’s news & notes.

On Raw, we started with a re-match from Smackdown on January 17, as The Usos wrestled The Real Americans. This was The Usos’ 1st opener since Raw on March 3 and The Real Americans’ 1st opener since since Smackdown on February 28. That was also the last time that Cesaro & Swagger won before Raw, and this was Jey & Jimmy’s 1st loss since Elimination Chamber on February 23. Next, Sheamus wrestled Titus O’Neil. This was O’Neil’s 1st match on Raw since February 3 and the 1st time in 3 weeks that Sheamus didn’t wrestle Christian on Raw. Speaking of February 3, that was the last time that the next match took place before this week, as Daniel Bryan wrestled Randy Orton in a No Disqualification Match. This was the 2nd week in a row Raw had a No Disqualification Match, bringing the Gimmick Match count to 39 overall and 14 for WWE. Then, in his 1st singles match since Smackdown on February 7, Goldust wrestled Fandango, in his 1st match on Raw since February 17. Next, Naomi returned to action after being injured since Raw on February 3, as she teamed with Cameron to face AJ Lee & Tamina Snuka, in their 3rd re-match, as they wrestled on Raw on January 13 & 20. We then had the 1st 8-Man Tag Team Match since Superstars on February 27, as The Big Show, Big E, Mark Henry, & Dolph Ziggler wrestled Curtis Axel, Alberto Del Rio, Ryback, & Damien Sandow. In the main event, which was a re-match from Smackdown on March 14, Kofi Kingston wrestled Bray Wyatt. This was the 2nd week in a row that a match from Smackdown was re-matched the following week on Raw. This was Kingston’s 1st main event of 2014 and Wyatt’s 1st main event since Raw on February 24.

On Main Event, The Brotherhood wrestled The Real Americans. This was the 3rd time they wrestled each other, as they wrestled on Raw on January 6 and Smackdown on March 14, becoming the 1st match to take place on Raw, Smackdown, & Main Event. This was Cody & Goldust’s 1st match on Main Event since February 26 and Cesaro & Swagger’s 1st match on the show since January 8. Next, we saw the return of Layla, who last competed on September 23,2013, as she teamed up with Alicia Fox against The Funkadactyls. This was Alicia’s 1st match on Main Event since March 4, Cameron’s 1st match on the show since February 19, and Naomi’s 1st match on the show since January 1. In the final match of Main Event, The Big Show wrestled Titus O’Neil. This was Show’s 2014 Main Event debut and O’Neil’s 1st match on the show since February 26. This was the 1st time since February 5 that Los Matadores didn’t compete on Main Event and the 1st time since January 22 that no one competed 2 weeks in a row.

On NXT, in his 1st opener of 2014 and 1st match since February 27, Mojo Rawley wrestled Bull Dumpsey, who last competed on NXT on September 25, 2013. Then, we were supposed to get Sami Zayn VS Tyler Breeze, but due to Corey Graves’ attack on Zayn, the match never started. Therefore, it doesn’t count in the standings. Next, in both men’s 1st match on NXT since March 6, Adam Rose wrestled Camacho. Then, in a re-match from NXT on January 29, making it the 1st Diva’s Match to be re-matched only on NXT, Bayley wrestled Sasha Banks. This was Sasha’s 2nd week in a row on NXT and Bayley’s 1st match on the show since February 12. Then, in the main event, Sheamus, making his 1st NXT appearance since July 23, 2013, took on Aiden English, in his 1st match on NXT since February 12. Sheamus became the 1st person since Emma on March 3 & 6 to compete on both RAW & NXT in the same week. This was also the 12th straight week that someone from the main roster competed on NXT and Sheamus’ 11th straight singles win, since returning to action, giving him the longest winning singles streak in WWE.

On Impact, in his 1st match in TNA since December 20, 2009, Bobby Lashley wrestled Ethan Carter III. This was Carter’s 1st opener since February 13. The match ended in a Disqualification, which was the 2nd week in a row Impact had a DQ. This was also Impact’s 50th Match of 2014. Next, in her 3rd week in a row on Impact, Gail Kim wrestled Lei’D Tapa. This was Gail’s 1st win since February 20. Then, we had 2 Title Matches, bringing the Title Match count to 30 overall and 12 for TNA. First, the World Tag Team Titles were defended for the 1st time since January 30, as The Bro-Mans took on The Wolves and Sanada & Tigre Uno in a 3-Way Match. This was the 1st 3-Way Match since January 27, bringing the Gimmick Match count to 40 overall and 26 for TNA. In the main event, we saw the other title match, as Magnus defended the World Title against Samoa Joe, in a re-match from Lockdown on March 9. This was the 2nd week in a row that Impact had a re-match from Lockdown. This was Magnus’ 1st main event on Impact since February 20 and Joe’s 1st main event since February 6.

On Superstars, in the 1st Diva’s Match on the show since February 20, Natalya wrestled Alicia Fox. That date was the last time that Natalya wrestled on Superstars. This was Alicia’s 1st match on the show since January 23. Since she also competed on Main Event, Fox became the 1st person since Los Matadores on March 4 & 6 to do that. In the other match on Superstars, R-Truth & Xavier Woods wrestled 3MB’s Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre. This was Truth’s 2014 Superstars debut, Woods’ 1st match on the show since January 16, & 3MB’s 1st match on the show since February 27. This was the 1st time since Main Event on January 8 that Truth & Woods wrestled in a normal tag team match, though they did wrestle in a 6-Man Tag with Dolph Ziggler against The Wyatts on Raw on February 3. For the 2nd week in a row, no one wrestled 2 weeks in a row on Superstars.

On Smackdown, in both men’s 1st opener of 2014, Fernando wrestled Fandango. This was Fernando’s 1st ever singles match of 2014 and 1st time any member of Los Matadores wrestled in singles competition. Next, in a 1st time in 2014 meeting, Dolph Ziggler wrestled Damien Sandow. This was Sandow’s 9th loss in a row. Next, we had a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the #1 Contender’s to the Tag Team Titles. This was the 1st 4-Way since Smackdown on February 14, bringing the Gimmick Match count to 41 overall and 15 for WWE. This was the 1st time in 2014 that Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins teamed up, as well as 3MB’s 1st match on Smackdown in 2014. The match ended in a No Contest, which was the 1st No Contest for Smackdown since February 24, but the 1st No Contest for WWE since NXT on February 27. Then, we saw an impromptu Battle Royal featuring some of the participants of the WrestleMania Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Since there was no referees present and no bell rang, it wasn’t an official match. Therefore, it doesn’t get counted here. Then, in another 1st time in 2014 match, Big E wrestled Alberto Del Rio. This was Big E.’s 1st singles loss since losing to Randy Orton on January 10 on Raw, though he has lost in tag team matches, most recently with Mark Henry against The Real Americans on Smackdown on February 28. Next, The Bella Twins wrestled the 1st time team of Natalya & Summer Rae. This was Summer’s 1st match on Smackdown in 2014 and her 10th straight loss of 2014. In the main event, John Cena wrestled Luke Harper, in the 350th Match of 2014. This was Cena’s 1st main event since Raw on February 10, Harper’s 1st main event of 2014, Cena’s 1st match on Smackdown of 2014, and Harper’s 1st singles match of 2014. This was the 1st time since Smackdown on February 7 that Raw or Smackdown did not have any re-matches.
