A press release issued by Wrestling Cares listed Pearce's "retirement match" against Adam Page as part of the card. Wrestling Cares issued the following to PWInsider:
There is a misprint on WCA's latest press release. The January 18th 2014 Wrestling Cares Association event will not feature the retirement match of "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce. We apologize to WCA fans, and fans of "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce for any confusion.
