RING OF HONOR TELEVISION REPORT: TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS FEATURING STEEN VERSUS ELGIN AND COLE VERSUS CIAMPA

We are one step closer to determining the next Ring of Honor World Champion. This week, we take a look at the two semifinal matches. Who will advance?

We are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and your announcers are Kevin ‘Pat’s’ Kelly and Nigel ‘Geno’s’ McGuinness.

Before the opening match, we take a look at comments from Adam Cole as well as a look at how Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa got to the semifinals.

Match Number One: Tommaso Ciampa versus Adam Cole in a Semifinal Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

We have the Code of Honor followed and then the bell rings and Ciampa with a knee to Cole followed by kicks in the corner. The referee pulls Ciampa off Cole and then he pulls down the knee pad. Cole with a bicycle kick and he tries for the Florida Key but Ciampa with an elbow. Cole sends Ciampa to the apron.

Ciampa with a forearm but Cole with an enzuigiri that sends Ciampa to the floor. Cole with a suicide dive onto Ciampa. Ciampa runs Cole into the guardrails and Ciampa sits Cole in a chair at the corner of the guardrails. Ciampa with a running knee to Cole’s head. Ciampa sits him in a second corner. Ciampa with another running knee to the head.

Ciampa goes for a third one but Cole recovers and tries for a super kick. Ciampa blocks and Ciampa sends Cole into the guardrails with a power bomb and then he hits a running knee to the head.

Ciampa returns to the ring to stop any count, assuming one was going on. Ciampa returns to the floor. Ciampa pulls up the mats at ringside and he pulls Cole from the ring back to the floor. Ciampa sets for a suplex on the floor but Cole blocks it. Cole tries for Florida Key on the floor and Ciampa with a twisting suplex on the floor.

Ciampa sends Cole back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Ciampa punches Cole but Cole with a drop kick to the injured knee followed by a Shining Wizard for a near fall. Cole tries to get Ciampa on his shoulders but Ciampa with elbows to stop him. Cole with a Death Valley Neck Breaker for a near fall.

Cole tries for a suplex but Ciampa drops down to block it. Cole sends Ciampa to the apron and Ciampa and Cole exchange forearms. Ciampa with a knee to the head and it staggers Cole. Ciampa thinks about suplexing Cole to the floor. Cole blocks it and he kicks Ciampa in the ribs. Cole goes from the ring to the floor and he DDTs Ciampa on the apron.

Cole picks up Ciampa and rolls him back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Cole tries for the Florida Key but Ciampa blocks it and he powers out of it and he hits a snap mare and knee to the head. Ciampa with a burning hammer for a near fall. Ciampa runs into an elbow but Ciampa with a forearm.

Ciampa with the running knee to the head. Ciampa goes for a second one and he connects. Ciampa with a third knee and the referee checks on Cole. Ciampa goes to the turnbuckles for a Super Air Raid Crash and he connects but Cole kicks out at two.

Ciampa checks on his surgically repaired knee before going up top for a superplex or a super Project Ciampa. Cole stops Ciampa and Cole tries for a sunset flip power bomb but Ciampa blocks it. Cole gets to his feet and he super kicks Ciampa’s injured knee.

Cole wrings the leg into the ring post a few times. Cole with a figure four leg lock around the ring post. The referee counts and Cole releases the hold. Cole with a super kick to the knee and then he tries for the figure four leg lock but Ciampa with an inside cradle for a near fall. Cole with a figure four leg lock. Ciampa tries to figure out how to escape the hold and Ciampa is able to reverse it and Cole gets to the feet and the hold is released.

Cole with a forearm and Ciampa returns fire. They go back and forth with forearms. Ciampa with control and Cole with a kick to the knee and a knee to the head for a near fall. Cole with a boot to the chest. Cole with another boot to the chest. Ciampa blocks a third attempt and he tries for Project Ciampa but Cole gets back to his feet.

Cole with two bicycle kicks. Ciampa with a discus lariat and Project Ciampa and he gets a near fall because he could only use one knee to hit the move. Ciampa gets to his feet first but his knee gives out and Cole with a neck breaker from a suplex position. Cole with the figure four leg lock. Cole and Ciampa slap each other while Cole continues with the hold. Cole kicks Ciampa in the head and Ciampa is out.

The referee checks by raising Ciampa’s arm and the arm goes down and Ciampa’s shoulders are on the mat and the referee makes the three count.

Winner: Adam Cole (Advances to Finals to face winner of Kevin Steen versus Michael Elgin)

After the match, officials check on Ciampa and bring ice for the head and knee.

We take a look at how Michael Elgin and Kevin Steen got to the semifinals.

Match Number Two Kevin Steen versus Michael Elgin in a Semifinal Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

We have the Code of Honor before the bell rings.

They circle each other beore locking up. Elgin with a clean break. They lock up again and Elgin backs Steen into the corner again and Elgin with a clean break one more time. Steen with a waist lock and then he rolls through and takes Elgin to the mat with a front face lock. Elgin with a wrist lock and Steen figures out a way to escape and reverse and Steen gets to the ropes.

Steen with a side head lock and then he tries for a shoulder tackle but Elgin does not move. They lock up again and Steen with a side head lock. Steen with another shoulder tackle and it does not move Elgin. They lock up again and Steen with a side head lock. Steen tries to get Elgin up for a package piledriver but Elgin escapes. Elgin tries for the Crossface and Steen escapes.

Elgin with a kick and Steen goes to the floor. Steen takes his time getting back into the ring and he finally returns. Elgin wants a test of strength and Steen obliges. They go chest to chest and Elgin with the early advantage. Steen with a monkey flip and then he curb stomps Elgin. Steen with kicks to Elgin.

Steen and Elgin with chops. Steen with a head butt and he chokes Elgin in the ropes. Steen breaks and then he chops and kicks Elgin. Steen with a forearm and head butt. Steen with another chop and forearm. Steen with more forearms and Elgin wants more. Elgin with forearms and then he sets for a suplex but Steen sends Elgin into the corner.

Elgin with a kick and then Elgin hits a double jump moonsault for a near fall. Elgin with shoulders in the corner but Steen with a kick and punch. Elgin with forearms in the corner and Steen falls to the mat. Steen with a thumb to the eyes and an elbow to the back. Steen with a forearm and chops.

Steen with forearms but Elgin with a forearm. Elgin with an elbow to the top of the head but Steen fires back with a kick. Elgin with a Bossman Slam and Steen falls to the floor to make sure that Elgin cannot get a pinfall on him.

Elgin goes to the floor and Steen rolls back in. Steen with a punch to Elgin on the apron. Elgin tries for a shoulder and Steen with a kick followed by a DDT with Elgin hanging in the ropes and Steen gets a near fall. Steen puts Elgin in position for the Swanton. Elgin stops Steen on the turnbuckles and he chops Steen.

Elgin tries for a superplex but Steen blocks it and he bites the head and then Steen with a cross body for a near fall. Steen gets Elgin on his shoulders for a moment but Elgin escapes. Elgin with a waist lock but Steen gets away from Elgin. Elgin misses a bicycle kick when Steen holds on to the ropes.

Elgin and Steen collide and both men are down. Both men try for clotheslines a few times. Steen blocks a clothesline and he kicks Elgin. Elgin with an enzuigiri but he misses a clothesline but he follows with a clothesline using the other arm and both men are down.

Elgin crawls over and he gets a near fall on Steen. Elgin goes for a waist lock and he picks up Steen and trties for the deadlift German suplex but Steen with elbows. Elgin with a series of clotehesines with Steen against the ropes. Steen and Elgin counter and then Steen avoids an O’Connor Roll. Steen tries for the Sharpshooer but Egin avoids it. Steen charges into the corner and he hits the ring post with his shoulder. Elgin with a Crossface but Steen gets to the ropes and Elgin releases the hold.

Steen goes to the apron and Elgin pulls Steen to the corner for the superplex but Steen blocks it. Steen pulls Elgin off the turnbuckles and then Steen goes upt op for the swanton and hits it and gets a near fall. Steen sets for the package piledriver but Elgin escapes. Steen cannot hit the sleeper suplex. Elgin with a kick and then he hits a uranage as Steen charges into the corner.

Elgin goes up top but his corkscrew senton hits Steen’s knees. Steen with the F-Cinq and Elgin kicks out at two. Steen misses the cannonball when Elgin moves. Elgin points to the turnbuckles for the buckle bomb but Elgin decides to hit a deadlift German suplex and bridge and Steen kicks out. Elgin returns to the Crossface and Steen struggles to get to the ropes and he does with his foot.

Steen with a punch and Elgin with a forearm. They go back and forth with forearms and they use the ropes for extra leverage. Steen with the advantage but Elgin with a bicycle kick and back fist. Steen with a pop up power bomb and then he tries for the package piledriver but Elgin rolls through and then he picks up Steen for a power bomb.

Elgin with a buckle bomb and Steen with a double leg take down and he puts Elgin in the Sharpshooter. Steen has to release the hold and he holds his shoulder. Steen tries for the sleeper suplex but Elgin holds the ropes. Steen with forearms to the back and then he tries for the sleeper suplex but Elgin with a Crossface. Steen and Elgin alternate near falls.

Elgin with a forearm to the back of the head and then Steen with a lariat and sleeper suplex but Elgin kicks out. Steen sets up Elgin for the package piledriver but he cannot pick up Elgin because of his shoulder. Steen with another sleeper suplex. Steen with one more sleeper suplex but Elgin with a clothesline and both men are down.

Steen with a kick and he tries for the package piledriver again, but Elgin escapes and counters with the Crossface. Steen taps out.

Winner: Michael Elgin (Advances to Finals to face Adam Cole)

After the match, the officials come to the ring with ice for both men and Steen refuses assistance. Steen helps Elgin to his feet and they shake hands as we go to credits.
