RING OF HONOR TELEVISION REPORT: 100TH EPISODE SPECIAL HOSTED BY RODERICK STRONG AND JAY LETHAL

Ninety-nine weeks of television has led us to this moment. Jay Lethal and Roderick Strong welcome us to the 100th episode of Ring of Honor Television.

Roderick mentions that Jay is in the first match. It is his television title match against El Generico from episode 2.

[I will be providing the play by play coverage from the television reports. During the matches, Roderick and Jay provide commentary and discussion. That discussion is listed after the match reports]

Match Number One: Jay Lethal versus El Generico for the ROH Television Championship (From October 1, 2011 Episode)

They lock up and Generico with a waist lock but Lethal works on the wrist. Generico with a reversal. Lethal with a reversal of his own and Generico with another reversal and arm drag. Generico with a leg sweep and a rana that sends Lethal into the corner. They lock up and Lethal with a waist lock and Generico with a wrist lock.

Lethal with a flip and arm drag and then Lethal with a head scissors to take Generico to the mat. Lethal offers his hand to Generico and Lethal helps Generico up and they shake hands again. They lock up and Generico with a waist lock and Lethal with a standing switch. Generico tries for a switch but Lethal with a snap mare and drop kick to the neck and he gets a near fall.

Lethal with a European uppercut followed by a forearm to the back. Lethal with a hip toss and cartwheel followed by a drop kick for a near fall. Lethal with a back breaker for a near fall. Lethal with a snap mare and he works on the legs and he applies a surfboard and cloverleaf combination but Generico refuses to submit.

Lethal gets a near fall. Generico with a punch but Lethal with a European uppercut. Lethal with a kick to the head and he gets a near fall. Lethal with a front face lock but Generico gets to his feet. Generico with punches but Lethal with a drop kick for a near fall.

Lethal with a forearm to the back but Generico responds with punches. Lethal with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Generico tries for an Arabian Press but Lethal moves. Generico with a series of arm drags and Lethal goes to the floor.

Generico sets for a plancha to the floor and he hits it and both men are down on the floor.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Lethal with a drop kick that staggers Generico. We see highlights from the commercial break when Generico hit a moonsault off the guardrail. Back to action in the ring, Generico gets a near fall after a drop kick. Lethal goes to the apron and he is favoring his knee. Lethal with a shoulder and then he hits a sunset flip from the apron for a near fall.

Generico with a back elbow but Lethal with punches. Generico with a forearm but Lethal with a handspring back elbow and both men are down. Lethal and Generico exchange punches and forearms. Lethal with a chop and elbows. Lethal backs Generico into the corner and Generico sends Lethal to the apron. Lethal with a missile drop kick for a near fall.

Lethal runs into a back elbow and Generico misses a clothesline. Lethal with a neck breaker for a near fall. Lethal tries for a power bomb but Generico drops down. Lethal sets for a piledriver but he could not get Generico up. Generico hits a tornado DDT for a near fall.

Lethal with elbows but he misses a round kick. Generico with a Blue Thunder Driver for a near fall. Generico sets for the Yakuza Kick but Lethal blocks it and Lethal with a rollup for a near fall.

Lethal tries for the Lethal Injection but Generico blocks it. Generico tries for the brainbuster but time runs out.

Time Limit Draw

After the match, Generico and Lethal shake hands while the fans want five more minutes. Generico talks to the referee and so does Lethal.

Jim Cornette comes to the ring and he tells the referee that they don’t have five more minutes but they have about three. He says that if Generico and Lethal want to wrestle until the end of the show, they can do it.

Continuation of Match Number Two: El Generico versus Jay Lethal for the ROH Television Title

Generico and Lethal exchange punches and Generico in control. Lethal with a forearm and then he hits a running clothesline into the corner. Generico with a Yakuza Kick and half nelson suplex for a near fall. Generico sets for the brainbuster and then he points to the corner for the turnbuckle brainbuster. Lethal with a suplex of his own and then he goes up top for the Savage elbow drop but Generico moves out of the way. Generico sets for the top turnbuckle brainbuster but Lethal pushes him off and Lethal is able to hit the elbow drop but he can only get a two count.

Lethal waits for Generico to get up but Generico stops Lethal and sends him into the turnbuckles with an exploder. Lethal with a super kick followed by the Lethal Injection for the three count.

Winner: Jay Lethal

[Comments during the match by Jay and Roderick]: Jay says that this was his toughest match. During the match, Jay talks about the hair change. Jay talks about the advantage of the 15 minute time limit. Roderick mentions the fact that it is also a curse. Roderick and Jay talk about hitting certain moves that are dangerous because they don’t want to be hit by similar moves. Jay mentions the difficulty of wrestling someone in a mask and Roderick agrees that they can hide emotions so well.

They also talk about the trademark moves from Generico like the three arm drags. Roderick and Jay talk about Generico’s chops and they talk about the most vicious chops in the company and they mention their own as well as Eddie Edwards. Jay talks about trying for a power bomb when he normally does not do one. They talk about feeding off the energy of the crowd. Jay mentions that they just collapsed after the bell ring because of everything that they gave in the match. Roderick talks about the quality of the wrestlers in Ring of Honor. Jay mentions that they were trying to figure out what to do with it being the second episode on Sinclair and Jay mentioned that he would like to be the Television Champion.

Roderick says that as a fan he enjoys watching the crowd and he mentions that it felt like the suplex in overtime was going to end the match. Jay mentions that he thought he had the match won with the elbow drop from the top. Roderick points out that he won the title from Jay and Jay calls him a spotlight stealer. Jay says that he did not have the strength to get back to his feet when they see the referee go down on his knees to hand Jay the belt.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Jay mentions that Roderick is in the next match when Roderick and Michael Elgin faced the Briscoes. Roderick says that there were some dark days when he was in the House of Truth. This was the culmination of the $5,000 challenge.

Match Number Two: Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin with Truth Martini versus The Briscoes in a $10,000 Challenge Match (From the February 11, 2012 episode)

The referee holds up the IOUs before the match starts.

Strong and Mark start things off and Strong with a leg take down and Mark with a spinning heel kick. Strong goes after Jay and Elgin attacks Mark. Elgin with an Irish whip and Strong and Elgin with clotheslines into the corner. They set up for a double suplex but Jay with a kick to Elgin. Mark and Jay with splash into the corner followed by a baseball slide from Mark and a kick by Jay.

Mark with a suplex to Strong for a near fall. Jay tags in and he kicks Strong. Jay with a drop kick and he gets a near fall. Jay with forearms and kicks and then he chokes Strong with his boot. Mark tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle and Mark gets a near fall. Mark punches Strong in the corner. Jay tags back in and he connects with a forearm. Strong with a chop but Jay chops back.

Strong with an Irish whip but Jay with a boot and then he tries for a flatline into the turnuckles but Strong holds on and he tags in Elgin. Elgin with an Oklahoma Stampede after running Jay into Strong’s knees. Elgin with elbow drops and he gets a near fall. Elgin with a forearm and Mark makes the tag. Mark with a clothesline to Elgin.

Mark tags Jay back in and Jay with a boot to the head. Elgin with an elbow to Mark and then he sends Jay to the apron and the floor. Mark with a drop kick that sends Elgin into the corner. Mark with an overhead mare and Jay with a splash for a near fall. We go to commercial.

We are back and Elgin and Jay are in the ring and Jay with a jawbreaker. Mark tags in and he chops Elgin. We see footage from the commercial break when the Briscoes worked over Elgin. Elgin with forearms to Mark but Mark with head butts. Elgin with a back body drop but Mark lands on his feet. Elgin with a spinning side slam and Strong tags in and kicks Mark and sends him into the corner.

Strong with chops and then it is time for them to exchange forearms. Strong with chops and a high knee to the head and one to Jay, I guess. Elgin with a suplex into a uranage after Strong chops Mark. Strong with forearms and Elgin with forearms as well. Mark tries to fight out of the corner.

Strong with the alley oop gutbuster and Elgin with a clothesline and Strong gets a near fall. Mark with forearms and punches to Strong and Elgin but Strong stops him. Strong puts Mark on the top turnbuckle and he tries for a belly-to-back superplex but Mark knocks Strong off. Mark with an enzuigiri and both men are down.

Mark crawls across the ring but Elgin stops him momentarily. Jay tags in and he goes after Strong and Elgin. Jay with a super kick to Strong but Elgin punches him. Jay with a super kick to Elgin and a Death Valley Driver to Strong and gets a near fall. Jay tries to get his second wind and motivate himself. Mark tags in and Jay with a Falcon Arrow and Mark with a frog splash but Elgin breaks up the cover.

Jay and Elgin with forearms to each other while Strong and Mark battle and exchange punches. The referee stands there because that is what he does in a tag match in ROH. Mark and Jay with boots to Elgin and Strong. Jay goes to the floor and Martini throws something in Jay’s eyes. Elgin and Strong attack Mark. Jay gets some water and he goes to the back.

Strong holds Mark and Jay returns with a baseball bat and he hits Elgin in the midsection with it. The referee calls for the bell.

Winners: Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin by disqualification

After the match, Jay hits Strong with the bat.

Mark takes the vouchers.

[comments from Jay and Roderick]: They talk about being close to Sandy Fork. Jay comments on how Strong wasn’t too serious with the Code of Honor. They wonder how someone gets a nickname like ‘Chicken’. They comment on how much it hurts to watch the tandem moves by the Briscoes. Roderick and Jay talk about the methods behind Truth Martini’s actions. Jay talks about how being a team for 11 years provides a mental connection.

They talk about the difference of being there live for the show. They talk about how the chops might not win a match, but they are going to help wear down your opponent for later in the match.

We go to commercial.

We are back and it is time to take a look at the finals from Survival of the Fittest from Episode 58. Roderick wonders why they have this because everyone knows that he is the fittest.

Match Number Three: Survival of The Fittest Elimination Match: Adam Cole versus Jay Lethal versus Davey Richards versus Mike Mondo versus Roderick Strong (with Truth Martini) versus Michael Elgin (from October 27, 2012 episode)

Strong and Richards start things off and there is No Remorse as they begin. They lock up and Richards works on the wrist and Strong reverses. Richards and Strong with reversals and they go to a stalemate. Strong teases a crane kick. Elgin tags in and Strong goes to the floor to avoid Elgin.

Strong gets to the apron and then he finally gets into the ring and he tags Mondo into the match. They lock up and Mondo with a side head lock. Mondo with a shoulder tackle but Elgin stays on his feet. Mondo goes for another shoulder tackle but he cannot budge Elgin. Elgin comes off the ropes and he catches Mondo on a leap frog and hits a power slam for a near fall. Elgin goes after Strong and Roderick gets to the floor again.

Elgin with a forearm to the back but Mondo with punches. Elgin with a knee to the midsection but Mondo with a head butt to the midsection. Richards tags in and he connects with forearms. Mondo with forearms but Richards with a drop kick. Richards with a drop kick to Elgin and Richards with a running kick to Elgin’s head from the apron. Strong with a back breaker to Richards on the apron. Cole with a pescado onto Strong. Lethal with a suicide dive onto Cole. Mondo goes up top and hits a moonsault onto everyone and they all go down.

Mondo gets a near fall on Richards. Mondo with a forearm to the back followed by a kick to the back. Richards with a back heel kick. Cole tags in and he punches Mondo. Cole with forearms to Mondo. Mondo sets for the double underhook DDT Cole. Strong makes the blind tag and he hits the Sick Kick to get the pin on Mondo.

Mike Mondo Eliminated

Cole and Strong exchange punches but Strong with the advantage. Strong runs into a boot from Cole and Cole with punches. Cole with an Irish whip but Strong with a boot and enzuigiri for a near fall. Strong tries to get under Elgin’s skin and then he knocks Richards off the apron. Strong and Cole exchange punches and then Strong runs Cole into the corner and he chops Cole. Strong with a running knee followed by a gutbuster from the shoulders and he can only get a near fall.

Strong kicks Cole and then he goes after Elgin. Strong with a forearm to Cole but Elgin with a spinning back fist to Strong. Cole with a superkick to Strong to eliminate him.

Roderick Strong Eliminated

Richards puts Cole in the ankle lock but Cole escapes and he hits a death valley neck breaker for a near fall. Elgin tags in and he goes for an O’Connor Roll on Cole but Elgin tries to roll through into a German suplex but Cole counters and gets a near fall with a rollup. Cole with an enzuigiri and then he goes for a rana but Elgin with a buckle bomb and spinning power bomb to eliminate Cole.

Adam Cole Eliminated

Lethal comes in and he hits a drop kick on Elgin and gets a near fall connects with forearms. Lethal goes for the Lethal Combination as we go to commercial.

We are back and Elgin gets Lethal on his shoulders and then he grabs Richards and hits a fallaway slam to both men. Lethal and Richards roll to the floor. Elgin goes up top. Strong pushes Elgin into the ring and then Lethal and Richards return to the ring. Lethal with a punch and Richards fires back. They continue to exchange punches. Richards with an enzuigiri and then he hits an exploder suplex on Elgin through the ringside table.

The referee checks on Lethal.

Richards wants Lethal to take a shot at him and Lethal connects with a shot to the jaw. Richards punches back. They go back and forth. Lethal with a chop and Richards with a kick. Lethal and Richards with rapid fire punches and both men go down. Richards and Lethal with forearms and we see Elgin roll himself back into the ring and Lethal and Richards stop.

Elgin blocks a kick from Richards. Lethal has a kick blocked. Richards with an enzuigiri and Lethal with a DDT to Elgin. Richards and Lethal go up top and Richards with a double stomp and Lethal with the elbow drop but Elgin kicks out when Lethal and Richards make the cover.

Richards with a clothesline but Elgin stays on his feet. Richards with a second one and Elgin does not budge. Elgin with a back fist. Lethal and Richards with a super kick and then they both hit a superkick at the same time and Elgin is pinned.

Michael Elgin Eliminated

We go to commercial.

We are back and Richards and Lethal stand across the ring from each other. The wrestlers come out from the locker room to surround the ring.

Lethal with a cutter after a handshake and Lethal goes up top for the elbow drop but Richards kicks out. Lethal gets Richards on his shoulders but Richards escapes and Richards with the Alarm Clock followed by a forearm. Lethal with the Lethal Combination and he hits a second one but Richards kicks out. Lethal with the Koji Clutch on Richards but Richards turns it into an ankle lock.

Lethal with an ankle lock and he lifts Richards using his feet. Richards gets to the ropes and the hold is broken. Lethal and Richards fight on the apron. They exchange punches, chops, and kicks. Richards with an Exploder suplex off the apron and then Richards goes up top and hits the double stomp. Lethal kicks out at one.

Richards with a super kick and round kicks but Lethal kicks out at two. Lethal with a super kick but Richards with a round kick. Lethal with a super kick and he gets a near fall.

We see Kyle O’Reilly watching from the entrance. Lethal picks up Richards and signals for the Lethal Injection. Richards moves and he puts Lethal in the ankle lock. Lethal kicks Richards away. Richards with a running forearm or three. Richards puts Lethal on the turnbuckles and hits a superplex and then he rolls through into a brainbuster and gets a two count. Richards with a sliding kick to the head but he only gets a two count.

Richards returns to the ankle lock. Lethal with a German suplex but Richards pops up. Lethal with a Dragon suplex for a near fall. Lethal thinks of what he has to do to win this match while Richards struggles to get back to his feet. Lethal with a head butt and chop. Richards spits in Lethal’s face. Lethal with an enzuigiri and Lethal Injection for the three count.

Winner: Jay Lethal

After the match, Kyle O’Reilly goes to the back and he does not look impressed with what he saw.

Lethal celebrates in the ring and then he stands face to face with Davey Richards. Richards holds Lethal’s hand up in victory.

[Comments from Jay and Roderick]: They talk about how Roderick starts off with Davey Richards and he mentions the number of matches that they have had. Jay mentions that a lot of people have considered Davey to be one of the best. Roderick points out that he has won more matches than Davey in their feud.

Jay comments on how ‘tough’ Roderick was when Elgin tagged into the match. Jay talks about Roderick mocking Michael Elgin and how Michael will get his hands on Roderick. They talk about feeling victim to Michael Elgin’s offense. Jay mentions that after seeing what Elgin was doing, he needed to work with Davey to finish off Elgin. Jay and Roderick talk about the difference between giving and taking a superplex. Jay mentions that he didn’t even remember the finish of the match.

We go to credits.
