COVERAGE OF THE FIRST ROUND MATCHES IN THE RING OF HONOR WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT

Here are the first round tournament matches in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament. These matches are available on ROH's video on demand for All Star Extravaganza.

If you do not order the Video on Demand for All Star Extravaganza, the matches will air on ROH TV on the following dates:

Jay Lethal versus Sonjay Dutt (Weekend of August 24)
Karl Anderson versus ACH (Weekend of August 31)
Adam Cole versus Mark Briscoe (Weekend of August 31)

The other five tournament matches are on the All Star Extravaganza show from Toronto. Ring of Honor has stated that the matches will air on television, but the air dates for these matches have not been announced at this time

Your announcers are Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness.

Nigel McGuinness is in the ring and he is with Cary Silkin and Joe Koff before starting the Ring of Honor World Championship Title Tournament.

Nigel asks Cary how important the Ring of Honor World Champion is to the company. He says that it is the most important championship in the company and in the entire wrestling world.

Nigel asks Joe how important the Ring of Honor title is to this company. Joe says that the tournament is for the fans and he wants to get it started.

Match Number One: Jay Lethal versus Sonjay Dutt in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

Dutt with a rollup and Lethal escapes. Lethal with a rollup for a near fall. Dutt with a take down and he hits a head scissors take down and Lethal goes to the floor. Dutt with a baseball slide and then he hits a head scissors off the apron that keeps Lethal on the floor. Dutt sends Lethal back into the ring and he hits a slingshot leg drop for a near fall.

Dutt with an octopus and abdominal stretch combination but Lethal escapes the hold. Dutt with a side head lock but Lethal escapes. Dutt with a knee. Lethal with a hip toss and cartwheel into a drop kick for a near fall. Lethal sends Dutt into the turnbuckles and he punches Sonjay. Dutt with a forearm and chops to Lethal. Dutt with an Irish whip but he misses a charge and Lethal with a clothesline for a near fall.

Lethal with a waist lock on Dutt but Dutt with elbows. Dutt with a forearm but Lethal with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Lethal with a slam and a snap elbow drop or two and he gets a near fall. Lethal sends Dutt into the turnbuckles and he chops Dutt.

Lethal with another chop as they move around the ring. Dutt gets away from Lethal and Lethal with a punch. Lethal with an Irish whip but Dutt gets his feet up and Dutt is sent to the apron and lethal hits a springboard drop kick and Dutt is sent to the floor. Lethal with a suicide dive onto Dutt. We go to commercial.

We are back and Dutt with a rana from the turnbuckles and Lethal goes to he floor. Lethal with a shoulder to stop a plancha. Lethal chops Dutt and he gives Dutt an Irish whip but Dutt with a kick when Lethal charges into the corner. Lethal tries for a front driver out of a tombstone but Dutt escapes and he hits a DDT and both men are down.

Dutt with a forearm but Lethal with a punch. They go back and forth. Dutt with the advantage and he Irish whips Lethal and hits a running Yakuza kick. Dutt with a super rana but Lethal rolls through. Dutt with a standing moonsault for a near fall. Lethal with a rollup for a near fall.

Dutt with a clothesline that flips Lethal and Dutt goes up tip for the moonsault double stomp but Lethal moves. Dutt blocks a super kick and he connects with one of his own. Lethal tries for a super kick one more time and Dutt blocks it again. Dutt with a super kick. Lethal hits the Lethal Combination but can only get a two count.

Lethal sets for the Lethal Injection while Dutt takes his time getting back to his feet. Lethal with a chop and then he hits a front driver for a near fall. Lethal tries to pick Dutt up but Dutt falls to the mat. Lethal with a slam and he goes to the turnbuckles for the elbow drop.

Dutt gets up and Lethal leaps over him. Dutt with a pendulum kick followed by a slingshot guillotine leg drop to Lethal. Lethal gets his knees up for a springboard splash and Lethal goes for the Lethal Injection but Dutt with a drop kick to the face as Lethal goes off the ropes. Lethal falls to the floor.

Dutt with an Asai Moonsault from the ring post on the floor. Dutt sends Lethal back into the ring and Dutt hits the springboard splash for a near fall. Dutt goes for the Asai DDT but Lethal counters. Dutt with a victory roll for a near fall.

Dutt has a super kick blocked. Lethal has a clothesline blocked. Lethal with a super kick to the back of the head followed by Lethal Injection for the three count.

Winner: Jay Lethal (Advances to face winner of Adam Cole versus Mark Briscoe)

Match Number Two: ACH versus Karl Anderson in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

They lock up and Anderson backs ACH into the corner but they go around the ring to another corner. Anderson with a clean break. They lock up and ACH with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. ACH with a head scissors take down and Anderson goes to the floor. Anderson moves out of the way and ACH bounces off the ropes and stays in the ring.

Anderson returns to the ring and they lock up again. Anderson with a side head lock take down. ACH gets a rollup for a near fall. ACH with a break when Anderson gets to the ropes but Anderson with a kick to ACH’s chest and back. Anderson with a European uppercut and ACH goes to the ropes. Anderson with a kick.

ACH holds the ropes and Anderson charges at ACH but ACH drops down and Anderson goes over the top rope to the floor. ACH goes to the apron and he tries for an Arabian Press onto Anderson but Anderson moves and ACH lands on his feet. Anderson with a flying Yakuza Kick to ACH.

We go to commercial.

We are back Anderson with a delayed vertical suplex to ACH and he gets a near fall. Anderson with more near falls and while he does not get the three count, he wears down his opponent. Anderson slaps ACH in the head and he connects with a European uppercut. Anderson with kicks to ACH.

The referee warns Anderson about the ropes. ACH goes to the apron and he connects with a shoulder and then he goes for a sunset flip and gets a near fall. Anderson with a running elbow and then he punches ACH in the head. Anderson with a reverse chin lock into a side head lock. Anderson with a forearm to the back followed by a slam.

Anderson misses a back senton when ACH moves. Both men struggle to get to their feet. ACH with kicks and chops and then he climbs the turnbuckles to punch Anderson. ACH with an Irish whip and Anderson sends ACH to the apron. ACH with a body scissors that sends Anderson to the floor. ACH with a baseball slide to Anderson and then he hits the double jump plancha onto Anderson.

ACH goes up top and he hits a cross body but can only get a two count. ACH with punches and forearms. Anderson tries for a cutter but ACH with Paydirt for a near fall. ACH goes up top but Anderson recovers and hits a running kick that stops ACH. Anderson is pushed off the turnbuckles and ACH leaps over Anderson. ACH misses a splash into the corner and Anerson with a kicks and then he hits a running sit out power bomb but he can only get a two count.

Anderson signals that it is over and he picks up ACH but ACH escapes and he hits an inverted DDT but can only get a two count. ACH hits a 450 splash but Anderson kicks out. Anderson with rollups but ACH escapes. ACH with a kick and he gets a near fall. ACH goes up top again and he goes for another 450 splash but Anderson moves. Anderson hits the Ace Crusher for the three count.

Winner: Karl Anderson (Advances to face winner of Michael Elgin versus Paul London)

Match Number Three: Adam Cole versus Mark Briscoe in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

34:19 They lock up and they go around the ring. Briscoe with a punch. Cole misses a super kick and they go to a stand off. They lock up and Cole with a side head lock. Mark with a drop toe hold and waist lock. Mark with a side head lock and shoulder tackle to a stalemate. Cole with an arm drag and drop kick to Briscoe.

Cole with an Irish whip and Mark floats over and hits a Northern Lights suplex and bridge for a near fall. Mark with a head butt to Cole followed by chops to the neck. Briscoe with another chop and he gets a near fall. Mark tries for a suplex and Cole blocks it.

Mark with a back elbow followed by a suplex and he gets a near fall. Mark with chops to Cole followed by a head butt. Mark sends Adam into the turnbuckles and then he chops Adam and connects with an uppercut.

Mark puts Cole on the turnbuckles and connects with a thrust to the throat. Cole gets Briscoe on his shoulders but Mark escapes and he kicks Cole in the head and Cole goes to the floor. Briscoe with a baseball slide. Briscoe goes to the floor and he runs into a super kick.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Cole with a reverse chin lock as he works on the head. Mark with punches but Cole gets him on his shoulders and hits a neck breaker out of a Death Valley Driver position for a near fall. Briscoe with punches to Cole but Cole blocks an enzuigiri. Cole with an enzuigiri to Briscoe.

Cole with forearms followed by an Irish whip. Cole and Briscoe bump heads and Cole looks like he took it worse. Cole with forearms to Briscoe followed by an Irish whip Briscoe with a jaw breaker and a clothesline in the corner. Briscoe with a drop kick off the ropes and then he hits a drop kick that sends Cole into the turnbuckles and Briscoe gets a near fall.

Cole with elbows but he misses a super kick. Briscoe with a waist lock. Briscoe with an enzuigiri followed by a head and arm suplex for a near fall. Briscoe with a full nelson but Cole with an elbow and Cole with a waist lock. Briscoe goes to the apron and he gives Cole a head butt. Briscoe goes up top but he is met with a super kick and Cole hits a shoulder breaker for a near fall.

Cole with a kick to the head but Briscoe wants more. Cole with forearms to the head and Briscoe fires back. They go back and forth with forearms. Briscoe with chops to the neck and head. Cole avoids an enzuigiri but Cole does not miss with a Yakuza kick and he gets a near fall.

Cole sets for the Florida Key but Briscoe backs Cole into the corner. Cole with a boot to the head a few times. Mark with a Death Valley Driver and then he goes up top but he takes too long and Cole with a Yakuza Kick. Cole sets for a superplex but Briscoe blocks it. Mark sends Cole to the mat. Briscoe hits the elbow drop but he cannot capitalize and make the cover.

The referee checks on Briscoe and he keeps Cole away from Briscoe. The referee checks to see if Mark can continue but Cole does not care and he hits a super kick and then he give Mark a Jay Driller for the three count.

Winner: Adam Cole (Advances to face Jay Lethal in the Second Round)

Match Number Four: Tommaso Ciampa versus Silas Young in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

Young has something to say to Ciampa and Ciampa has something to say to Silas. They lock up and Young backs Ciampa into the corner but they go around the ring and to the floor. The referee tries to separate them but they send each other into the guardrails while locked up. They return to the ring and Young with a double leg take down and he punches Young.

Ciampa traps the arms and he punches Young. Ciampa with a side head lock and he holds on when Young tries to send him off the ropes. Ciampa with a shoulder tackle and then he drops an elbow on Young when Young drops down on an Irish whip. Ciampa with a side head lock but Young with an escape. Ciampa with another side head lock take down and Young with a head scissors.

Young blocks a side head lock take down with a belly-to-back suplex. Young kicks Ciampa. Young with a forearm and chop in the corner. Ciamp with a chop but Young with a kick. Young sends Ciampa into the turnbuckles. Young with an Irish whip and he runs into a boot. Young blocks a kick from Ciampa but Ciampa with a forearm and kick and he gets a near fall.

Ciampa rakes the face and looks like he is going to pull off the mustache. Ciampa with an Irish whip and forearm followed by a snap mare and leap frog neck breaker. Ciampa puts Young in the ropes and he rakes the face and he pulls at the mustache again. Ciampa kicks Young and then he pulls down the knee pad and he pulls at the mustache and throws him around the ring. Ciampa goes for the knee but Young recovers first and he connects with knees to Ciampa. Young with a running boot to the head against the turnbuckles.

Young picks up Ciampa and he tries to suplex him into the ring but Ciampa blocks it. Ciampa tries to suplex Young to the floor. They go back and forth and they go to the apron together. Young with a punch on the apron and Ciampa with a knee to the head. Young suplexes Ciampa off the apron to the floor.

Both men are down on the floor and the referee starts his count. Both men struggle to get back into the ring. Ciampa with a head butt to Young and Young returns fire. They go back and forth like two rams butting heads. Young mises a clothesline and Ciampa with a forearm. Ciampa with a Dragon suplex after avoiding another clohtelsine and Ciampa gets a near fall. Young with a drop kick to the knee and he gets a near fall with a rollup. Young with a back breaker and clothesline for a near fall.

Young gets Ciampa on his shoulders and he hits the Finlay Slam and then he sets for the headstand elbow but Ciampa with a kick. Ciampa climbs the turnbuckles and he puts Young on top. Young with punches and head butts. Young comes off the turnbuckles and Ciampa with a spinebuster for a near fall.

Ciampa sets for Project Ciampa but Young counters and connects with a forearm. They go back and forth with forearm. Young with a chop. Ciampa with a forearm. Young drops Ciampa on the top rope and he punches Ciampa and connects with a clothesline.

They exchange forearms and Ciampa blocks a rana and hits Project Ciampa for the three count.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa (Advances to face winner of Michael Bennett versus BJ Whitmer)

Match Number Five: Michael Bennett (with Maria Kanellis) versus BJ Whitmer in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

Bennett tries to attack Whitmer from behind but Whitmer moves out of the way and Whitmer with an enzuigiri followed by and Exploder on Bennett. Whitmer gets a quick two count on Bennett. Bennett goes to the floor and Whitmer with a suicide dive onto Bennett. Whitmer with chops to Bennett followed by a suplex on the floor. Whitmer breaks the count by returning briefly to the ring.

They both get back into the ring. Whitmer with a kick to Bennett in the corner followed by a chop. Whitmer with an elbow to the back of the head followed by a chop. Whitmer with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Whitmer with punches.

Bennett with a drop toe hold and it sends Whitmer into the ropes. Bennett with a drop kick from the floor. He pulls Whitmer to the floor and sends him into the apron. Bennett puts Whitmer against the guardrails and he connects with a boot to the head. Bennett breaks the referee’s count and he connects with another boot to the head.

Bennett slams Whitmer on the floor and then he takes some time to kiss Maria. Bennett sends Whitmer back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Bennett with an Irish whip and clothesline into the corner. Bennett with another Irish whip but Bennett misses a splash in the corner when Whitmer moves and Bennett hits the turnbuckles in an uncomfortable position.

Whitmer with chops in the corner followed by a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. Whitmer with punches to Bennett but Bennett with a spinebuster and he gets a near fall. Bennett with knee drops to the back of the neck and he applies a rear chin lock. Whitmer with an elbow but Bennett with a double sledge to the back.

Bennett and Whitmer exchange punches. Bennett with a kick but both men go down when they try for clotheslines. Maria gets on the apron and the referee does not realize that Maria left a shoe in the ring for Bennett, but Nigel takes it. Nigel tells the referee to eject Maria and he carries Maria to the back.

Bennett follows after Nigel and Maria but Whitmer with a cross body onto Bennett from the top. Whitmer sends Bennett back in and Bennett with a knee. Whitmer with clotheslines and a power slam for a near fall. Whitmer with an Irish whip followed by a knee and a rolling suplex and Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.

Bennett with a jaw breaker and a TKO for a near fall. Bennett tries for a suplex but Whitmer with a punch and a series of rolling fisherman’s suplexes for a near fall. Bennett rolls to the apron and Whitmer follows. Whitmer tries for a urnage on the apron but Bennett stops him and he piledriver Whitmer on the apron and Whitmer is down on the floor. The referee checks on Whitmer and he calls for the bell.

Winner: Michael Bennett (due to referee stoppage) (Advances to face Tommaso Ciampa in the second round)

Match Number Six: Roderick Strong versus Matt Taven (with Truth Martini, Scarlett and Selezia) in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

They lock up and Taven with a wrist lock. Strong with a reversal and a take down. Taven with a reversal but Strong with a reversal and drop toe hold into a reverse chin lock. Strong with a front face lock but Taven gets to the ropes. Taven retreats to the ropes and then he goes to the floor after Strong spat on him.

Taven returns to the ring and they lock up and Taven with a knee and forearm. Taven with an Irish whip and Strong floats over and hits a drop kick. Strong with chops followed by a back breaker and he gets a near fall. Strong with a forearm to the back fo the head followed by a shoulder in the corner.

Strong with more chops to Taven. Truth grabs the leg and Taven gets a near fall with a rollup. Strong with a drop kick and he suplexes Taven and gets a near fall. Strong with knees and Taven sends Strong to the apron. Strong sends Taven into the turnbuckles. Truth grabs Strong’s leg again and Taven with a drop kick to the head.

Taven punches Strong on the floor and then he sends Strong head first into the table. Taven brings Strong back into the ring and he punches Strong. The referee warns Taven. Taven chokes Strong in the ropes. Taven with a delayed vertical suplex and Taven kips up.

Taven with a springboard senton for a near fall. Taven starts to focus on the leg and he drops an elbow to the leg. Strong with forearms. Strong with a rollup for a near fall. Strong with chops but Taven with a drop kick and he gets a near fall and Strong gets his foot on the ropes.

Strong kicks Taven but Taven with punches. Strong with forearms and Taven stops him. Strong with an Irish whip and Taven with an enzuigiri for a near fall. Taven with a sit out gourdbuster and then he goes up top for a moonsault but Strong gets his knees up.

Strong with a boot to a charging Taven. Strong with chops to Taven followed by a flying clothesline and a spinning side slam for a near fall. Strong with a running knee into the corner followed by a running forearm. Taven with a boot to Strong but Strong with a back body drop and a clothesline that sends Taven over the top rope to the floor.

Strong with a baseball slide through the ropes. Selezia gets on the apron and distracts the referee long enough to allow Truth to hit Strong in the back with the Book of Truth. Nigel says something to Truth. Strong appears to want Truth to stay at ringside. Taven tries to attack Strong from behind, but Nigel pulls Strong out of the way and Taven hits Truth instead.

Strong with a burning hammer back breaker on the apron and then Strong gets a near fall. Strong tries for a back breaker but Taven escapes and he hits a round kick. Taven runs into a boot from Strong and Strong with an enzuigiri. Taven with a round kick and Angel’s Wings for a near fall.

Taven goes up top but Strong with an enzuigiri and then Strong hits a superplex and he gets a near fall but he turns it into the Strong Hold. Taven tries to get to the ropes and he succeeds. Taven sends Strong into the ropes. Taven with Roll The Dice on the top rope and Taven goes up top for a frog splash and he connects but Strong kicks out.

Strong counters the snap mare driver with a back breaker and then he hits a head and leg back breaker followed by a flying kick to the knee. Strong with End of Heartbreak for the three count.

Winner: Roderick Strong (Advances to face winner of Kevin Steen versus Brian Kendrick)

Match Number Seven: Paul London versus Michael Elgin in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

They lock up and Elgin backs London into the corner and he gives a clean break. They lock up again and Elgin picks up London who applies a side head lock and Elgin puts London on the apron. London returns to the ring and he goes to the floor to pour some water on the back of his neck and fans bang the guardrails around him.

Elgin wants a test of strength but London isn’t too sure about his chances. London wants to use the other hand to start and London with a side head lock and head scissors take down. London with a waist lock but Elgin tries for a suplex. London with a waist lock and Elgin with a back fist. London with a rollup for a near fll.

London tries for a rana and Elgin blocks it. Elgin charges at London and Elgin goes over the top rope when London ducks. Elgin returns to the ring and London with a drop kick but Elgin with a shoulder tackle and London falls to the floor. London returns to the ring and they lock up again. Elgin backs London into the corner and London kicks Elgin in the head.

London with a knee to the head from the turnbuckles. London with a drop kick to the knee and the head followed by a front face lock. Elgin puts London on the apron and Elgin misses a punch. London with a kick and then he goes for a corkscrew cross body from the top but Elgin catches London. London gets away from Elgin and he kicks Elgin in the corner. London goes for a springboard move but Elgin catches him and hits a power slam for a near fall.

Elgin with forearms to the back of the head. Elgin with a forearm to the upper chest. London with chops to Elgin but Elgin with a chop. Elgin with a forearm to the head followed by a front face lock and delayed vertical suplex.

Elgin gets a near fall. Elgin with a rear chin lock but London gets to his feet for a jawbreaker. Elgin with a back breaker to London and he picks him up for a second back breaker. Elgin drops London to the mat with a side slam and then Elgin goes to the turnbuckles.

Elgin goes for the corkscrew senton but London moves out of the way. London runs into the corner but Elgin sends him back to the mat with a uranage. London goes to the apron for a breather and Elgin follows. Elgin goes for a belly-to-back suplex on the apron but London blocks it. London with a kick followed by a head scissors that sends Elgin off the apron to the floor.

Both men are down on the floor. The referee starts his count. London sends Elgin back into the ring and he hits a springboard drop kick followed by a spinning kick into the corner. Elgin gets London on his shoulders and London tries for a sunset flip but Elgin does not go over.

Elgin drops down but London moves out of the way. London misses a round kick but he does not miss with a standing shooting star press. London goes up top and he leaps over Elgin. Elgin with a super kick. London with a victory roll for a near fall. London avoids an O’Connor Roll but Elgin with a spinning Bossman Slam for a near fall.

Elgin with a waist lock into a deadlift German suplex and bridge for a near fall. Elgin points to the turnbuckles and he sets for the Buckle Bomb. London backs Elgin into the corner. London with a double leg take down and a double stomp. London checks on his left knee.

London with forearms and Elgin fires back. They go back and forth. Elgin with the advantage and London with a running forearm but Elgin with a back elbow and forearm. London with an enzuigiri but Elgin stays on his feet. Elgin with a forearm to the back of the head and then he sets for the lariat but London with a dropsault.

London with a flip dive onto Elgin. London returns to the ring and he hits a springboard double stomp to the back on the floor. London rolls into the ring and he gets a near fall. London goes up top but Elgin with an uppercut to stop London.

Elgin with another punch. Elgin goes for a superplex but London with forearms and head butts. London tries for a sunset flip power bomb but Elgin holds on to the ropes. London gets sent to the apron and London goes for a springboard move but Elgin sees it coming and he hits a drop kick to send London to the floor.

Elgin goes to the middle rope for the Gorilla Superplex and he gets a near fall. Elgin points to the turnbuckles again and he hits the Buckle Bomb and he goes for the spinning sit out power bomb but London counters with a reverse rana and London goes up top for the Shooting Star Press and he connects but Elgin kicks out at two.

London puts Elgin on the top turnbuckle and he punches Elgin. London goes for a super rana but Elgin with a sit out super power bomb followed by a spinning back fist, buckle bomb and spinning sit out power bomb for the three count.

Winner: Michael Elgin (Advances to face Karl Anderson in the second round)

Match Number Eight: Kevin Steen versus Brian Kendrick in a First Round Match in the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Tournament

Kendrick with kicks to the leg and elbows to Steen’s arm followed by a wrist lock. Steen with a punch and reversal into a hammer lock and Kendrick gets to the ropes. Steen with a single leg take down and Kendrick gets to the ropes and Steen breaks. They lock up again and Steen with a waist lock take down.

Kendrick with a waist lock into a side head lock. Kendrick with a shoulder tackle and Steen stays on his feet. Steen wants Kendrick to try again and Kendrick has the same result. Steen tells Kendrick the third time might be the charm. Kendrick ducks a clothesline and he connects with forearms. Kendrick with a float over into a victory roll.

Kendrick with a side head lock and Steen with a shoulder tackle. Steen with a drop kick and he poses. Kendrick goes to the floor and Steen holds the ropes open for Brian. Kendrick takes advantage of the twenty count to return to the ring. Kendrick returns to the ring and then he goes to the floor again.

Steen goes to the floor and he chases Kendrick around the ring. Kendrick gets back into the ring first and he connects with a shoulder. Kendrick goes to the apron again and Steen pulls him to the floor. Steen tries for a power bomb onto the apron but Kendrick escapes and gets onto the apron. Kendrick with an elbow and Steen with a slepper. Kendrick with Sliced Bread #2 on the apron.

The referee checks on both men. Kendrick returns to the ring first and Steen has trouble getting back to his feet. Kendrick with a baseball slide when Steen returns to the ring and he gets a near fall. Kendrick with a camel clutch. Steen backs Kendrick into the turnbuckles to try to get out of the hold. Steen goes to a second turnbuckle but with no luck. Kendrick holds on to the sleeper and Steen falls back to the mat and he escapes.

Kendrick with a forearm and Steen with a forearm. Steen with punches and forearms. Kendrick with a kick to the head but Steen with a lariat and a fisherman neck breaker for a near fall. Kendrick holds on to the ropes and Steen with forearms to the back.

Steen misses a charge into the corner and Kendrick with a drop kick. Kendrick goes for a Burning Hammer but he cannot get Steen up. Kendrick with a jaw breaker. Steen with a back elbow to Kendrick. Kendrick with a forearm and a modified Death Valley Driver for a near fall.

Steen goes to the apron and Kendrick tries to suplex Steen back into the ring. Steen blocks and he tries to suplex Kendrick to the floor. Kendrick with a forearm and Steen with a shoulder and Steen with a sunset flip that rolls into a Sharpshooter but Kendrick fights out of the hold. Steen catapults Kendrick onto the turnbuckles.

Kendrick with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Kendrick goes for Sliced Bread #2 but Steen counters with F-Cinq and Kendrick kicks out at two. Steen sets for the package piledriver but Kendrick escapes and hits a super kick. Steen sends Kendrick into the turnbuckles and hits a Sleeper suplex for a near fall. Steen charges into the corner but Kendrick pulls the referee in front of him.

The referee is moved out of the way and Kendrick with a low blow but Steen grabs Kendrick by the throat and hits a choke slam. Steen continues to hold his groin and Steen hits a Cannonball. Steen with the Sharpshooter. Kendrick taps out.

Winner: Kevin Steen (Advances to face Roderick Strong in the second round)
