TAKING IMPACT ON THE ROAD UPDATE, THE STATUS OF GUTCHECK, WHY TNA BROUGHT IN TITO AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2013-08-02 09:30:58

From the "yep, the tail is wagging the dog" department, Tito Ortiz appeared on Impact last night to help hype his Bellator fight with Rampage Jackson on November 2 at the MMA promotion's first PPV. It is just one more example of how Spike TV has pretty much total control over what direction TNA goes in.

For those of you who think taking Impact on the road was a good move financially, consider this. There are 18 upper level sections of the building they ran in Wichita Falls, TX last night. They sold tickets in seven of them. There are 18 sections in the Mezzanine level. They sold tickets in three of them. And, they didn't sell them out.

Danny Davis is telling people that he will not be coming to Impact as part of Gut Check any more. With Bruce Prichard gone and the recent financial cutbacks (and let's face it, the project has been a failure), Gut Check may be a thing of the past.

On last night's Impact, they announced the following matches for the 8/15 live special/used to be a PPV Hardcore Justice show:

*Chris Sabin vs. Bully Ray for The TNA Title in a steel cage.

*The Main Event Mafia will take on Five Members of Aces and Eights.  Whoever takes the fall will have to leave TNA for good.
