By Darren Bongiovanni on 2013-07-07 08:06:00

DARREN’S WIN-LOSS RECORDS COLUMN: WEEK 27

Welcome to Week 27 of 2013. This week we start the 2nd half of 2013 with the 1st week of July. We also had TNA next One Night Only Pay-Per-View Hardcore Justice 2. Also, after doing the Mid-Year Report, which I hope you enjoyed, I found a few discrepancies in the records. Everything is now fixed and correct going forward. And next week will be WWE’s July Pay-Per-View, Money In The Bank, so stay tuned for that. Now, to this week’s news & notes.

On Raw, we started July with the same match that ended June, Christian & The Usos VS The Shield, giving us our 1st June- July Re-Match. It was the 1st 6-Man Tag Team Match since last Friday’s Smackdown and the 2nd week in a row that Smackdown’s Main Event was the opening match on the following week’s Raw. The next match saw Dolph Ziggler wrestle against Jinder Mahal in Mahal’s 1st singles match since Saturday Morning Slam on May 11 and his 1st match on Raw in 2013. Next, we saw another June-July Re-Match as Randy Orton wrestled Kane for the 2nd straight show, but this time, Daniel Bryan was Special Guest Referee. This was Raw’s 200th Match of 2013 and the 1st time since May 27 that Raw had a Special Guest Referee. Also, on Raw, we saw the return of Fandango, as he faced Sheamus. This was Fandango’s 1st match since June 7. The match ended by Count Out, which was the 1st time since June 21 that Raw had a Count Out. The Miz wrestled Ryback in a 1st time match. Ryback told the referee that he couldn’t continue, and the referee then stopped match, so I will call it a Referee Stoppage. This marks the 2nd week in a row that Raw had match end to do to a Referee Stoppage. The next match was the 800th Match of 2013, as CM Punk teamed up with Curtis Axel for the 1st time against The Prime Time Players. Next, we saw Kaitlyn VS Alicia Fox in Fox’s 1st match on Raw since January 21, though she wrestled on NXT on June 21. We saw a 1st ever match between Antonio Cesaro and Cody Rhodes, in Cesaro’s 1st match on Raw since June 10. The main event of Raw saw John Cena VS Alberto Del Rio in a Champion VS Champion Match. This was the 1st Champion VS Champion Match since then-World Champion Dolph Ziggler VS then-US Champion Kofi Kingston on Raw since April 29, but the 1st time in 2013 that the WWE and World Heavyweight Champions wrestled each other.

On Main Event, we saw Christian wrestle Damien Sandow. This was Christian’s 2nd week in a row on Main Event and Sandow’s 1st match on the show since June 12. Christian also wrestled in both the opening matches of Raw and Main Event this week. The next match on Main Event saw Sin Cara VS Jack Swagger. This was Cara’s 1st match on the show since June 19, Swagger’s 1st match overall since May 24, and his 1st match on Main Event since April 10. The final match of Main Event saw Curt Hawkins in 1st match on Main Event since June 5 against Big E. Langston in his 1st match on the show since May 22.

On NXT, we saw the 1st Semi-Final Match of the NXT Women’s Championship Tournament as Paige wrestled Alicia Fox. This was Paige’s 1st match on NXT since June 5 and Alicia’s 1st match on NXT since June 12. Next, we saw the debut of Andy Baker, as he faced Conor O’Brian, in O’Brian’s 1st match on NXT since June 5. Next, we saw Xavier Woods, in his 1st match since June 19, wrestle Scott Dawson, in his 1st singles match in 2013. This was the 2nd week in a row that Dawson wrestled on NXT. Mason Ryan wrestled Enzo Amore, in Amore’s 1st match since May 22. Immediately after Ryan wrestled Colin Cassady, which was a re-match from June 5. That was the last time that both men appeared on NXT. This was the 1st time since Raw on June 24 that someone wrestled twice on the same show. The main event of NXT saw Bo Dallas in his 1st title defense of the NXT Championship since winning the title on June 12, defend against Antonio Cesaro. That date was the last time that Cesaro also wrestled on NXT. This was the 2nd week in a row that Dallas wrestled on NXT. This brought the Title Match count to 85 overall and 55 for WWE.

On Impact, we started off with 2 Bound For Glory Series Matches, as AJ Styles wrestled Kazarian and Hernandez wrestled Jay Bradley. Then we saw the tag team debut of The Bro-Mans, as Robbie E & Jessie wrestled Gunner & James Storm. Another Bound For Glory Series Match saw Jeff Hardy wrestle Joseph Park. The match ended by Disqualification. This was the 1st time TNA had a Disqualification since May 23. The final match saw a 3-Way X-Division Title Match, bringing the title match count to 86 overall and 32 for TNA and the Gimmick Match count to 105 and 43 overall. This was the 2nd week in a row that Impact had a 3-Way Match and an X-Division Title Match. Last week, Austin Aries won the title as Suicide, but this week he was recognized as champion under his own name. The man formerly known as Suicide was re-named as Manik. Since it’s the same character with a different name, Suicide’s record will be now listed as Manik and he received credit for last week’s win since it was wasn’t revealed until after the match that it was Aries under the mask.

On Superstars, we saw Zack Ryder VS Wade Barrett. This was the 2nd week in a row that both men competed on Superstars, which was the 1st time since June 13 that someone wrestled 2 weeks in a row. The 2nd match on Superstars saw Natalya VS Naomi in their 1st match on the show since June 20, which was the last time that a Diva’s Match was on Superstars. This was Naomi’s 1st singles match since April 29.

On Smackdown, we saw a re-match from Main Event on June 5, as The Usos wrestled Team Rhodes Scholars. The Usos opened up Raw and Smackdown this week, marking the 1st time that ever happened. Smackdown also gave us a re-match from this week’s Raw as Kaitlyn wrestled Alicia Fox. Next, for the 2nd week in row, Randy Orton did not compete in the main event of Smackdown, as he faced Christian. For the 2nd time this week, Dolph Ziggler wrestled a member of 3MB, as he wrestled Drew McIntyre. The next match saw Justin Gabriel competing for the 2nd week in a row in the 2nd to last match, against Fandango. The main event of Smackdown saw CM Punk in his 1st match match on Smackdown in 2013 wrestle Alberto Del Rio. This was a re-match from Raw on June 17. The match ended in a Double Count Out, giving us the 1st No Contest for WWE since June 24, the 2nd show this week to have a Count Out, and the 1st Double Count Out since March 29. Also, Alberto Del Rio main evented both Raw and Smackdown for the 1st time since January.

On TNA One Night Only: Hardcore Justice 2, we saw several debuts, returns, and gimmick matches. First, the Gimmick Match count jumped to 112 overall and 50 for TNA, with 7 Gimmick Matches. There was a Street Fight and a No Disqualification Match, which was the 1st time since the No Holds Barred Match between Sting & Bully Ray on June 2 at Slammiversary. We saw the 1st ever Ladder Match since June 6 between Jeff Hardy & Bully Ray, the 1st Gauntlet Battle Royal since the last One Night Only Pay-Per-View on May 3, the 1st Elimination Match since the 4-Way Tag Match at Slammiversary on June 2, and the 1st Tables Match since Sting & Bully Ray VS Devon & D.O.C. on Impact on February 7. This was the 1st time that TNA had a Monster’s Ball Match. Besides the normal TNA Roster, Hardcore Justice 2 saw the returns of several wrestlers, as well as the debuts of 2 wrestlers. This was the 1st TNA appearances for Funaki and Bob Holly. This was the 1st time since 2003 that Devon Storm wrestled, 2004 that Slash wrestled, since 2005 that Sinn wrestled, since 2008 that Judas Messias wrestled, since 2010 that Homicide, 2 Cold Scorpio, Johnny Swinger, Guido, and Brother Runt wrestled, and since 2011 that Jackie Moore, Generation Me, & Shark Boy wrestled.

Now without further ado, here are the Win-Loss Records for this week, followed by the results of the week that was. Thanks again to Mike for posting it and all of you for reading it. Please send all feedback and comments to my Twitter Account (@hbkid718).
