MORE ON ROH CHAMPIONSHIP

As Dave noted, Ring of Honor officially announced today that for the first time since their first champion was crowned in 2002, the ROH championship is officially vacant.

As noted by PWInsider.com, Jay Briscoe has departed the company contractually as planned with his final appearance at the most recent ROH TV taping in Baltimore.

The tournament to crown the new champion will take place over the following dates and cities:

7/27 in Providence, Rhode Island
8/3 in Toronto, Ontario
8/17 in New York City
9/20 in Philadelphia, PA
9/21 in Philadelphia, PA

The first competitor announced is Michael Elgin, who was scheduled for a ROH title bout on 8/3.
