DARREN’S WIN-LOSS RECORDS COLUMN: WEEK 12

Welcome to Week 12 of 2013. Next week will be the final week of March, so following Saturday Morning Slam on March 30 will be the March Month in Review. Now, to this week’s news & notes.

On Raw, we saw John Cena’s 1st match in March as he wrestled Darren Young. We also saw David Otunga’s 1st match on Raw for 2013, as he faced off with Ryback. His only other singles match this year was in a losing effort against Kofi Kingston on February 28. For the 6th straight time, Fandango refused to compete, so he still doesn’t get a spot in the rankings. We saw R-Truth VS Damien Sandow end in a Count Out, giving us our 1st Count Out since Main Event on March 13 when The Big Show defeated Alberto Del Rio. Raw gave us 2 re-matches to add to the list, as this was the 2nd time that Alberto Del Rio wrestled Cody Rhodes and Kofi Kingston wrestled Dolph Ziggler. Their previous matches were on Raw on February 4 and at Elimination Chamber on February 17, respectively. The Main Event of Raw featured a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship. This was the 41st Gimmick Match overall and 24th for WWE, was the 1st Triple Threat Match for Raw this year, and the 1st Triple Threat Match for WWE since the #1 Contender’s Match for the NXT Title on March 6. It was the 31st Title Match overall and 19th for WWE. This was the 1st time that Wade Barrett has defended the Intercontinental Title since defeating Kofi Kingston on Smackdown on January 4. This was also the 5th consecutive Raw to not have a Diva’s Match.

On Main Event, we saw R-Truth VS Wade Barrett. This was the 1st time this year that someone wrestled in the final match of Main Event 1 week and then in the opening match the following week. It was also the 1st time since Randy Orton on March 4 and Main Event on March 6 that a wrestler who competed in the main event of Raw then wrestled in the opening match of Main Event in the same week. This was R-Truth’s 2013 Main Event debut. Main Event also saw a Diva’s Match with Layla & Natalya VS Aksana & Alicia Fox. This was the 1st Diva’s Match on Main Event since February 6 when The Funkadactyls defeated Aksana & Tamina Snuka. This was the Main Event debuts of all of the Divas except for Aksana. It was also the 2013 tag team debut of both Layla & Natalya and Aksana & Alicia Fox. The final match on Main Event saw The Usos take on The Prime Time Players. This was the 1st time that the most re-matched match of 2012 took place since January 16 on Main Event, which was also the last time Darren Young competed on the show. This was The Usos 2nd straight week on the show and Titus O’Neil’s 1st match on the show since losing to Justin Gabriel on February 20. Also, this was the 1st time that there was 2 tag team matches on Main Event.

On NXT, we saw Justin Gabriel VS Leo Kruger in their 2nd time competing against each other. They last wrestled on NXT on February 27, which was also the last time Gabriel wrestled on NXT. We saw Paige VS Bayley in Bayley’s NXT debut. It was also Paige’s 1st match on the show since February 13 when she lost to Summer Rae. We saw Adrian Neville VS Luke Harper in Harper’s 2013 singles debut and Neville’s 1st singles match since his debut against Sakamoto on January 16. This was also Neville’s 1st loss in NXT.

On Superstars, we saw Zack Ryder VS Antonio Cesaro. This was the 1st time in 3 weeks that someone that wrestled on last week’s show competed on the following week’s episode, as Ryder, JTG, & Michael McGillicutty all wrestled last week. This was Cesaro’s 1st match on Superstars in 2013. Zack Ryder became the 1st person to wrestle in the final match of Superstars one week and then wrestle in the opening match the following week. The other match which was Brodus Clay & Tensai VS JTG & Michael McGillicutty, was the 350th Match this year. It was the 1st time that JTG & McGillicutty teamed up in 2013 and Clay & Tensai’s 1st match on Superstars since defeated Epico & Primo on February 28.

On Impact, we saw both the TNA World Tag Team and X-Division Championships defended, bringing the total Title Match count to 33 overall and 14 for TNA. The last time that both titles were defended were at Lockdown on March 10. The X-Division Title Match was a 3-Way Match and that along with the 4-Way Match for the #1 Contendership for the TNA World Heavyweight Title brought the Gimmick Match count to 43 overall and 19 for TNA. This was the 1st 3-Way Match since Kenny King defeated Zema Ion and Christian York at Lockdown on March 10 and this was the 1st 4-Way Match since the Knockout’s Title Match on Impact on February 21. The Tag Title Match between Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez and Austin Aries & Bobby Roode was a re-match from the Feburary 7 episode of Impact. In the X-Division Match, we saw the return of Sonjay Dutt, who hasn’t competed since September. We also saw the return of Matt Morgan in his match against Joseph Park. This was Morgan’s 1st match since Genesis on January 13 when he & Joey Ryan lost to then-World Tag Team Champions Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez. Also, the 4-Way Match saw Magnus’ 1st loss in 2013. This was the 1st time in 2 weeks that Impact didn’t have a Disqualification or No Contest and the 1st time in 2013 that there was no Knockout’s Match on Impact.

On Smackdown, we had several re-matches added to our count, as every match except the 6-Man Tag Team Match was a re-match. Zack Ryder VS Mark Henry took place on Raw on March 4. Kofi Kingston VS Dolph Ziggler took place on Raw on Monday, making it the 2nd time in 2 weeks that a match from Raw was re-matched on Smackdown. Last week, it was Orton & Sheamus VS Team Rhodes Scholars. Chris Jericho VS Jack Swagger was a re-match from last Friday’s Smackdown. Brodus Clay & Tensai VS Team Rhodes Scholars took place at Elimination Chamber on February 17. This match ended in a No Contest, when The Funkadactyls and The Bellas got involved, making it the 4th straight Smackdown to have a No Contest and the 2nd time in 2 weeks that the main event didn’t end in a No Contest. The Miz VS Antonio Cesaro was the 5th time in 3 months they wrestled each other. They last wrestled on Smackdown on March 1 in a 2 Out of 3 Falls Match. The 6-Man Tag Team Match between The Big Show, Randy Orton, & Sheamus and 3MB was the 1st 6-Man Tag Team Match for WWE since February 18 when Chris Jericho, Ryback, & Sheamus wrestled The Shield on Raw. This was Jinder Mahal’s 1st match since Feburary 15 when he & Slater lost to Brodus Clay & Tensai on Smackdown. This was the 2nd time this week that Orton & Sheamus wrestled 3MB, as they faced off in a tag team match on Raw. This was also the 2nd straight week that Alberto Del Rio didn’t wrestle on Smackdown.

On Saturday Morning Slam, we saw the 1st Gimmick Match for the show, as The Great Khali took on Epico & Primo in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. This was the 1st Handicap Match for WWE since NXT on March 6, when Adrian Neville defeated Scott Dawson & Judas Devlin. This brought the Gimmick Match count to 44 overall and 25 for WWE. This was Khali’s 1st match this year on Saturday Morning Slam and Epico & Primo’s 2nd consecutive week on the show. The other match was The Miz VS Damien Sandow. This was Miz’s 1st match on the show since January 26 when he defeated Darren Young and Sandow’s 1st match on the show since defeating Zack Ryder on March 1.

Now without further ado, here are the Win-Loss Records for this week, followed by the results of the week that was. Thanks again to Mike for posting it and all of you for reading it. Please send all feedback and comments to my Twitter Account (@hbkid718).
