WHY IMPACT LOOKED DIFFERENT FROM UK, COLISEUM VIDEO TODAY, ROSS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2013-03-02 10:00:00
I was watching the Randy Savage DVD and during the match between Savage and Bret Hart versus Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels, Jim Ross is doing the play by play. This match had to have taken place during the summer of 1992 because Savage was WWF Champion and Hart was I.C. Champion. I always thought Jim Ross made his WWF debut at Wrestlemania IX in 1993. So my question is when exactly did he start working for the WWF?

Ross started with the WWF in 1993, so the commentary was probably recorded specifically for the DVD or later on. My guess is that WWE may have wanted something removed from the original commentary, so they had a new audio track put in. WWE actually does it quite a bit.

Was I imagining things or did the UK Impacts have a "film"look instead of the normal videotaped look?

It wasn't you. I noticed it immediately. It was a side effect of the transition of the PAL to NTSC video formats.

Where's Low Ki? Back to ROH I hope?

He's just left New Japan. No word on a ROH return but I doubt it.

I was in NYC and walked past Coliseum Home Video??? Same company?

Same company. No longer affiliated with WWE.
