Kurt Angle appeared on ESPN Sportscenter this afternoon in a segment discussing the IOC decision to drop wrestling as a guaranteed competition starting with the 2020 Olympic Games. Angle noted that he was in "shock" over the decision and didn't believe it was something IOC would actually do. He noted that wrestling at the High School and college level remains extreme popular and that now that there are MMA companies like UFC and Bellator for athletes to transition into, it's strong for wrestlers as they see a long-term future for themselves. He noted that removing the Olympics as an incentive for wrestlers hurts sports and that wrestling on both an amateur and professional level need to fight back for the sport to protect it for future generations.
