DARREN’S WIN-LOSS RECORDS COLUMN: WEEK 3
Welcome to Week 3 of 2013. Next week will be delayed until Sunday after the 1st Pay-Per-View of the WWE Calendar, the Royal Rumble. Also, stay tuned for the 2012 Year In Review, which should be up soon. Now, to this week’s news & notes.
On Raw, we had our 11th Title Match and 8th for WWE, as the WWE Diva’s Title was on the line. Kaitlyn defeated Eve Torres for the Diva’s Title in the 3rd Title Change of the year overall and 3rd for WWE. It was also the 2nd time in 2 weeks that Kaitlyn wrestled Eve, as they wrestled last Monday on Raw. It will also be the final time they wrestle, as it was Eve’s final match in WWE. There was 2 Gimmick Matches on Raw, as we had the 1st Ever 3-on-1 Handicap Over The Top Rop Challenge Match and a Steel Cage Match on the show, bringing the total to 13 overall and 9 for WWE. The Over The Top Rope Challenge Match was a win for 3MB as it was the 3 of them against Sheamus and not every man for himself, like normal in a Battle Royal or Royal Rumble. It was also a January only Re-Match as it was the 2nd time that Sheamus wrestled 3MB, as they wrestled on Smackdown last Friday. The Steel Cage Match between John Cena & Dolph Ziggler was also a January Re-Match as they wrestled each other last Monday on Raw.
On Main Event, we had another Re-Match, as this was the 2nd time that Randy Orton wrestled Antonio Cesaro. They wrestled each other on Smackdown on January 11. It was also the 1st No Contest of the year. The 2nd match on Main Event was also a Re-Match, as The Usos wrestled The Prime Time Players on Superstars on January 3, continuing the most re-matched match from 2012. This was also the 1st Main Event since December 19 that Wade Barrett did not wrestle on Main Event.
On NXT, we had several debuts and final matches. We saw the in-ring debuts of Adrian Neville & Sakamoto. We also saw the final match of Trent Barreta, who taped his match on NXT prior to being released. There is also a discrepancy with Barretta’s name. During the pre-match graphic, his name was spelled “Barreta”, but when he came out to the ring, his name was spelled “Baretta”. WWE.com had it listed as “Barreta”, so that is what it will be here. Also, the referee’s reverse of the decision, giving Trent the win over Leo Kruger by Disqualification was the 1st DQ for NXT this year. NXT also gave us the 1st ever teaming up Antonio Cesaro & Damien Sandow in a tag match against Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd, in what might be Kidd’s final match, since he’s now on the injured list.
On Superstars, we had the 2nd week in a row that Zack Ryder competed and won. It was also the 1st time this year that there was no tag matches on the show.
On Impact, we had a January Re-Match, as this was the 2nd time that Christian York wrestled Kenny King. They wrestled each other at TNA Genesis on January 13. Impact was the 1st time that the final match was a Knockout Match. It was the 1st time that there was no Disqualifications on the show and the 1st time only 3 matches were held. This isn’t match related, but Tommy Dreamer became the 1st person to be attacked by The Shield & Aces & Eights in 2 separate companies on Raw & Impact.
On Smackdown, we had the 1st Count Out since Sheamus VS Dolph Ziggler on Main Event on January 9, when Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio defeated The Big Show & Ziggler. It was also the 1st time that Sheamus & Del Rio teamed up. Smackdown was the 2nd week in a row that Antonio Cesaro wrestled in the opening match.
On Saturday Morning Slam, we had the 1st ever Diva’s Match on the show, as Natalya defeated Alicia Fox. Also, Michael McGillicutty became the 1st wrestler this year to wrestle on Superstars & Saturday Morning Slam in the same week.
Now without further ado, here are the Win-Loss Records for this week, followed by the results of the week that was. Thanks again to Mike for posting it and all of you for reading it. Please send all feedback and comments to my Twitter Account (@hbkid718).
