RING OF HONOR TELEVISION REPORT: BEST MATCH OF 2012; BRISCOES VERSUS HOUSE OF TRUTH BONUS MATCH; LOOKING AT JAY LETHAL; AND MORE

With the end of 2012 right around the corner, it is time to continue the look back at some of the top moments in Ring of Honor in the past year. Tonight, we will find out what the Ring of Honor Match of the Year was.

Your host is Kevin Kelly and he is in the control center.

We will find out the Match of the Year in 2012 tonight. Ring of Honor is about families and there was a family that got together in Ring of Honor in 2012. They were the Briscoes. The Briscoes got their father involved in the match to face the House of Truth.

This match took place as an exclusive for Ringside Members, but we are going to get a chance to see it because Ring of Honor is in the holiday spirit.

Match Number One: Roderick Strong, Michael Elgin, and Truth Martini versus Mark Briscoe, Jay Briscoe, and Papa Briscoe

Before the match starts, Mark throws a chair into the ring.

We move ahead in the match and Jay floats over and applies a waist lock on Elgin but Michael with an elbow to the head. Jay with a drop kick to Elgin and then he chops Elgin. Jay with an uppercut and Mark tags in. Mark with punches and a head butt. Elgin with a forearm.

We go further into the match and Jay with an uppercut to Elgin followed by a punch. Truth with a knee to the back and that distracts Jay for a moment. Jay knocks Strong off the apron. Truth trips Jay to allow Elgin to hit a Samoan drop and he gets a near fall. Elgin with forearms to the back and he gets a near fall.

Strong attacks Jay on the floor and then he holds Jay for Truth to chop him. Jay is returned to the ring and Elgin gets a near fall. Elgin with a front face lock and Strong is tagged in. Strong with punches and forearms to Jay. Strong with shoulders in the corner followed by a chop. Jay with a chop. Jay and Roderick go back and forth and Strong with a knee and then he rakes the eyes.

Truth tags in and Strong holds Jay and kicks Jay in the ribs. Jay with a punch and Elgin tags back in. Elgin with a forearm and kick to the back. Elgin with an Irish whip and he misses a splash into the corner. Elgin blocks a suplex attempt and then he slams Jay. Elgin with an elbow drop for a near fall.

Strong tags back in and he punches Jay. Strong with an Irish whip but Jay with an elbow and a flatline into the turnbuckles. Truth pulls Mark off the apron to prevent the tag. Papa Briscoe chases Martini around the ring and goes to the back.

Strong kicks Jay in the hamstring and then he tags in Elgin. Truth returns to the corner. Strong with an Irish whip and Strong with a forearm followed by one from Elgin in the corner. Elgin with a delayed vertical suplex and he gets a near fall. Strong tags back in and they Irish whip Jay and then they send Martini into the corner but Jay moves out of the way.

Mark tags in and he chops Strong and Elgin. Mark lands on his feet on a back body drop. Mark with an enzuigiri followed by a running drop kick. Papa tags in and Strong attacks Papa. Strong gets him on the shoulders but Papa escapes and Jay with a super kick and Papa hits a uranage. Jay with a pescado onto Strong on the floor.

Papa has Truth cornered but Elgin hits him from behind. Mark sends Elgin to the floor and Mark hits a flip dive onto Elgin. Truth gets some powder or some other form of white substance and the referee warns him. Papa hits Truth’s hand and it goes into Martini’s eyes and Papa with a stunner for the three count.

Winners: The Briscoe Family

We go to commercial.

We are back and Kevin talks about the sacrifices made by Ring of Honor wrestlers. Two wrestlers suffered severe injuries. At Boiling Point, Tommaso Ciampa injured his knee at the start of the two-out-of-three falls match.

The other wrestler who suffered an injury in 2012 was Mike Mondo. Mondo suffered an ankle injury at Glory By Honor. Just like with Ciampa, they say that Mondo will be out for about a year.

On the July 21st episode of Ring of Honor television, Mike Mondo challenged Kevin Steen for the World Title.

Match Number Two: Mike Mondo versus Kevin Steen with Jimmy Jacobs for the Ring of Honor World Championship

Mondo interrupts Steen’s promo with punches and the match is on. Mondo with punches but Steen with a few forearms and boots. Mondo with a kick and knee to the back and Steen goes to the floor. Mondo with a baseball slide. Steen with a rake of the eyes.

They exchange punches on the floor. Mondo with an Irish whip into the guardrails. Mondo slams Steen’s head into the guardrails. Mondo with a running shoulder tackle. Mondo sends Steen into the guardrails but Steen with another rake of the eyes. Steen tries for a suplex onto the ramp but Mondo lands on his feet. Steen with an elbow.

Steen takes the guardrails and tries to drop it on Mondo but Mondo moves. Mondo tries for a suplex onto the guardrail but Steen blocks it and hits a power bomb onto the guardrails. The referee starts his count as Steen enters the ring. Mondo gets in just before the twenty count. We go to commercial.

We are back and Steen chokes Mondo in the ropes. Steen bites Mondo’s ear and tells the fans that Mondo can’t hear them. Mondo punches Steen but Steen with a kick to the head. Steen with another kick but Mondo fights to his feet. Mondo with a punch but Steen with kicks to Mondo. Steen stands on Mondo’s neck and then hits a short arm clothesline followed by a back senton for a near fall.

Steen takes the mic and kicks Mondo in the head. He tells Mondo he doesn’t deserve a title shot. Mondo will be be known as No Balls. Mondo with punches to the midsection and then the head. Mondo with a pescado onto a screaming Steen. Mondo rolls Steen back into the ring and he climbs the turnbuckles. Mondo with a boot to the back of the head and gets a two count.

Mondo goes up top but he takes too long and Steen stops him. Mondo punches Steen from the turnbuckles and then he goes to the apron. Steen with a kick when Mondo tries for a shoulder from the apron. Steen with a DDT followed by a cannonball and Steen connects. Steen gets a two count.

Steen gets Mondo on his shoulders for the F-Cinq but Mondo counters with an inside cradle for a near fall. Mondo with a forearm and front face lock. Mondo tries for the double underhook DDT. Steen sends Mondo into the ropes and then hits F-Cinq for the three count.

Winner: Kevin Steen

Kevin Steen has turned back numerous challengers during 2012. What will Kevin Steen as the champion mean for the future of the company?

We are back and it is time to take a look at another wrestler who made an impact. Jay Lethal experienced a transformation during 2012. Some thought he did not have the ‘killer instinct’ so Lethal showed that he had that ‘killer instinct’ and it took place in Rahway, New Jersey.

In case you missed the footage that we have seen for months, Jay Lethal’s parents assaulted him with a beverage and Steen spat upon the Lethals. The aftermath of Lethal’s outburst was that he is prevented from having a title match against Kevin Steen as long as Steen is the champion.

To complicate matters, Jay Lethal earned a title match when he won Survival of the Fittest. We go to that match from the October 27th episode.

Match Number Three: Survival of The Fittest Elimination Match: Adam Cole versus Jay Lethal versus Davey Richards versus Mike Mondo versus Roderick Strong (with Truth Martini) versus Michael Elgin

Strong and Richards start things off and there is No Remorse as they begin. They lock up and Richards works on the wrist and Strong reverses. Richards and Strong with reversals and they go to a stalemate. Strong teases a crane kick. Elgin tags in and Strong goes to the floor to avoid Elgin.

Strong gets to the apron and then he finally gets into the ring and he tags Mondo into the match. They lock up and Mondo with a side head lock. Mondo with a shoulder tackle but Elgin stays on his feet. Mondo goes for another shoulder tackle but he cannot budge Elgin. Elgin comes off the ropes and he catches Mondo on a leap frog and hits a power slam for a near fall. Elgin goes after Strong and Roderick gets to the floor again.

Elgin with a forearm to the back but Mondo with punches. Elgin with a knee to the midsection but Mondo with a head butt to the midsection. Richards tags in and he connects with forearms. Mondo with forearms but Richards with a drop kick. Richards with a drop kick to Elgin and Richards with a running kick to Elgin’s head from the apron. Strong with a back breaker to Richards on the apron. Cole with a pescado onto Strong. Lethal with a suicide dive onto Cole. Mondo goes up top and hits a moonsault onto everyone and they all go down.

Mondo gets a near fall on Richards. Mondo with a forearm to the back followed by a kick to the back. Richards with a back heel kick. Cole tags in and he punches Mondo. Cole with forearms to Mondo. Mondo sets for the double underhook DDT Cole. Strong makes the blind tag and he hits the Sick Kick to get the pin on Mondo.

Mike Mondo Eliminated

Cole and Strong exchange punches but Strong with the advantage. Strong runs into a boot from Cole and Cole with punches. Cole with an Irish whip but Strong with a boot and enzuigiri for a near fall. Strong tries to get under Elgin’s skin and then he knocks Richards off the apron. Strong and Cole exchange punches and then Strong runs Cole into the corner and he chops Cole. Strong with a running knee followed by a gutbuster from the shoulders and he can only get a near fall.

Strong kicks Cole and then he goes after Elgin. Strong with a forearm to Cole but Elgin with a spinning back fist to Strong. Cole with a superkick to Strong to eliminate him.

Roderick Strong Eliminated

Richards puts Cole in the ankle lock but Cole escapes and he hits a death valley neck breaker for a near fall. Elgin tags in and he goes for an O’Connor Roll on Cole but Elgin tries to roll through into a German suplex but Cole counters and gets a near fall with a rollup. Cole with an enzuigiri and then he goes for a rana but Elgin with a buckle bomb and spinning power bomb to eliminate Cole.

Adam Cole Eliminated

Lethal comes in and he hits a drop kick on Elgin and gets a near fall connects with forearms. Lethal goes for the Lethal Combination as we go to commercial.

We are back and Elgin gets Lethal on his shoulders and then he grabs Richards and hits a fallaway slam to both men. Lethal and Richards roll to the floor. Elgin goes up top. Strong pushes Elgin into the ring and then Lethal and Richards return to the ring. Lethal with a punch and Richards fires back. They continue to exchange punches. Richards with an enzuigiri and then he hits an exploder suplex on Elgin through the ringside table.

The referee checks on Lethal.

Richards wants Lethal to take a shot at him and Lethal connects with a shot to the jaw. Richards punches back. They go back and forth. Lethal with a chop and Richards with a kick. Lethal and Richards with rapid fire punches and both men go down. Richards and Lethal with forearms and we see Elgin roll himself back into the ring and Lethal and Richards stop.

Elgin blocks a kick from Richards. Lethal has a kick blocked. Richards with an enzuigiri and Lethal with a DDT to Elgin. Richards and Lethal go up top and Richards with a double stomp and Lethal with the elbow drop but Elgin kicks out when Lethal and Richards make the cover.

Richards with a clothesline but Elgin stays on his feet. Richards with a second one and Elgin does not budge. Elgin with a back fist. Lethal and Richards with a super kick and then they both hit a superkick at the same time and Elgin is pinned.

Michael Elgin Eliminated

We go to commercial.

We are back and Richards and Lethal stand across the ring from each other. The wrestlers come out from the locker room to surround the ring.

Lethal with a cutter after a handshake and Lethal goes up top for the elbow drop but Richards kicks out. Lethal gets Richards on his shoulders but Richards escapes and Richards with the Alarm Clock followed by a forearm. Lethal with the Lethal Combination and he hits a second one but Richards kicks out. Lethal with the Koji Clutch on Richards but Richards turns it into an ankle lock.

Lethal with an ankle lock and he lifts Richards using his feet. Richards gets to the ropes and the hold is broken. Lethal and Richards fight on the apron. They exchange punches, chops, and kicks. Richards with an Exploder suplex off the apron and then Richards goes up top and hits the double stomp. Lethal kicks out at one.

Richards with a super kick and round kicks but Lethal kicks out at two. Lethal with a super kick but Richards with a round kick. Lethal with a super kick and he gets a near fall.

We see Kyle O’Reilly watching from the entrance. Lethal picks up Richards and signals for the Lethal Injection. Richards moves and he puts Lethal in the ankle lock. Lethal kicks Richards away. Richards with a running forearm or three. Richards puts Lethal on the turnbuckles and hits a superplex and then he rolls through into a brainbuster and gets a two count. Richards with a sliding kick to the head but he only gets a two count.

Richards returns to the ankle lock. Lethal with a German suplex but Richards pops up. Lethal with a Dragon suplex for a near fall. Lethal thinks of what he has to do to win this match while Richards struggles to get back to his feet. Lethal with a head butt and chop. Richards spits in Lethal’s face. Lethal with an enzuigiri and Lethal Injection for the three count.

Winner: Jay Lethal

We are back and it is time to announce the Ring of Honor Match of the Year for 2012. It is Michael Elgin versus Davey Richards at Showdown in the Sun Day Two.

Match Number Four: Blind Destiny Match for the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title: Michael Elgin (with Truth Martini) versus Davey Richards

Richards with knees but he cannot get Elgin down with a shoulder tackle. He is able to get the big man down with a drop kick. Elgin goes to the apron and Richards kicks Elgin in the back and sends him to the floor. Richards with a suicide dive onto Elgin. Richards kicks Elgin in the chest as he goes around ringside. Davey goes to the turnbuckles while Elgin is on the apron but Elgin blocks it and chops Richards.

They both go onto the turnbuckles but Richards knocks him to the apron. Elgin clotheslines Richards off the turnbuckles and gets a near fall. Elgin with forearms to the chest. Elgin with a delayed vertical suplex and he keeps Richards in the air for close to a minute before making impact and getting a near fall.

Elgin with forearms across the chest while Davey is hanging over the edge of the ring. Elgin with a leg drop across the chest and he gets a near fall. Elgin tries for a power bomb but Davey blocks it and he sends Elgin into the corner and connects with shoulders.

Elgin blocks a running forearm tries for a Death Valley Driver but Richards escapes. Richards goes for a handspring move but Elgin catches Richards on his shoulders and hits Shock Treatment but can only get a near fall. Elgin tries for a belly-to-back suplex but Richards holds on to the ropes.

Richards punches Elgin and Elgin punches back. Elgin with a chop that sends Richards to the mat and it looks like the champion has no idea how to handle his opponent. Elgin with a forearm to the back. Richards with a jawbreaker but Elgin with a shoulder tackle and a German suplex for a near fall.

Elgin with a surfboard. Richards gets to his feet but when he tries to escape Elgin holds on and continues to work on the back. Richards lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt. Richards with kicks to Elgin including an enzuigiri. Richards with a missile drop kick for a near fall. Richards sets for the running forearm but Elgin with a boot.

Elgin with a forearm and it gets Davey angry. Richards with a forearm of his own and it is time for both men connect with forearms. Richards with a series of forearms and a running forearm followed by an Exploder suplex and Richards gets a near fall.

Richards with a running knee to the chest and then he puts Elgin on top. Richards sets for a superplex. Elgin with forearms but Richards with head butts. Richards hits the superplex but Elgin pops up. Richards with a running boot ot the head and it does nothing to Elgin. Elgin with an enzuigiri. Richards with a kick and German suplex followed by a clothesline for a near fall. Richards with an ankle lock but Elgin gets to the floor.

Richards misses the running kick on the apron and Elgin hits a muscle buster on the floor. Elgin hits a running power bomb into the guardrails. Elgin rolls Richards into the ring and he can only get a two count. Elgin goes up top for a moonsault and he hits a twisting senton for a near fall.

Elgin puts Davey on the turnbuckles but Richards applies a key lock and elbows Elgin in the head. Richards tries for a sunset flip power bomb but Elgin holds on to the turnbuckles. Richards crotches Elgin but Elgin knocks Davey to the mat. Davey tries for a German suplex from the turnbuckles but Elgin holds on. Richards with a kick to the head.

Richards hits a super Dragon suplex but Elgin kicks out at two. Richards applies the ankle lock but Elgin gets to the ropes. Davey kicks Elgin in the chest and it looks like Elgin is struggling to stay on his knees. Richards with a third kick and Elgin is on his feet. Elgin pie faces Richards.

Richards with Kawada kicks but Elgin with a cravate and knees to the head. Richards with more kicks and Elgin with more knees. Richards with a kick to the chest and he puts Elgin against the ropes and hits a series of kicks. Elgin with an O’Connor roll into a German suplex for a near fall. Elgin with a kick followed by a suplex into a side slam for a near fall. Elgin with a crossface and Davey almost taps out.

Richards gets his foot on the ropes and the referee tells Elgin to break the hold. Richards is laying on the apron and Elgin goes to the top turnbuckle. Richards with forearms and then Richards with the dragon screw leg whip in the ropes. Richards goes up top and hits a double stomp onto the apron. Richards goes up top for another double stomp for a two count.

Richards hits the running forearm but Elgin with a kick. Richards with a discus clothesline followed by an Exploder suplex for a near fall. Richards gets to his feet first and he signals that it is all over. Elgin blocks a kick but Davey with an enzuigiri. Elgin with a forearm elbow followed by an inverted suplex into an Island Driver for a near fall.

Elgin is the first to his feet this time and Davey looks to be out on his feet. Elgin with a buckle bomb but Ricahrds with a kick. Elgin with a clothesline. Richards with a sunset flip and he rolls into the ankle lock. Elgin counters into a Crossface but Richards gets a near fall with a rollup. Elgin with a kick to the head followed by a back fist and the spinning sit out power bomb for a near fall.

Elgin returns to the crossface and Richards fights to get to the ropes but Elgin rolls through and gets into the center of the ring. Davey goes for the ankle and he is able to get Elgin into the ankle lock. Elgin reaches for the ropes and Richards pulls him into the center of the ring. Elgin with kicks to the head but Richards holds on to the ankle lock. Elgin wants to tap but he rolls through and sends Richards into the corner. Richards with a kick to the head and he only gets a one count. Richards with a series of kicks for a near fall. Richards with a round kick to the head for the three count.

Winner: Davey Richards
