2002 - AJ Styles & Jerry Lynn defeat the Rainbow Express in the finals of a tournament for the NWA World Tag Team Title in Nashville, Tennessee during the third NWA:TNA PPV. Here is the complete PPV report, written by Buck Woodward:
The July 3rd (Week Three) of NWA: Total Nonstop Action aired live from Nashville, Tennessee.

The show began with pyrotechnics and the fans chanting "TNA" while Mike Tenay, Don West and Ed Ferrara Went over some of the matches for the show and the events of the last two weeks.

Mike Tenay interviewed NWA President Jim Miller (identified on screen as "Jim Wilson" but that graphic was quickly removed). Miller said he had been in Japan scouting talent during the debut show, and that he had a surprise for everyone. He gave a trophy to Mike Tenay, saying it was from the NWA to TNA. He then said that Omori from Japan will face the winner of tonight's NWA World Championship match between Ken Shamrock and Malice next week on NWA:TNA. This would be Takao Omori from Pro Wrestling Noah.

The first match of the show was the NWA World Tag Team Championship Tournament match between The Johnsons, with Mortimer Plumtree, vs. Chris Harris & James Storm. Clips of Storm & Harris defeating the Rainbow Express last week was shown, with it being explained that their victory last week got them in the tournament.

Harris started the match with one Johnson, getting tossed around until he hit a Thesz press and a series of punches. Storm tagged in and hit a headscissors, but the Johnson came back with a neckbreaker, and the other Johnson tagged in for a double slam. The new Johnson presslammed Storm and tagged the other one back in. Storm floated over a suplex, but was caught in one anyway. The Johnsons got a two count with a double shoulderblock. Storm was stomped down in the corner, and tossed with a double back bodydrop. Johnson slammed Storm, but was booted when he came off the second rope. Storm hit a reverse atomic drop and a superkick. Storm tagged Harris, who went to work on both men, but was double teamed. A brawl broke out, and Harris speared one Johnson, while Storm fought the other outside the ring.

Chris Harris went for a bodypress on the Johnson in the ring, but was caught. James Storm came off the top rope and dropkicked his partner in the back, and Harris fell on top and got the pin. Storm and Harris move on in the tournament.

After the match, Mortimer Plumtree started chewing out his team, but the Johnsons, after teasing a chokeslam, shoved him to the mat and left. Plumtree chased after them, saying "We can be friends".

Upcoming NWA events were plugged as the TNA Girls danced.

Scott Hall came out for an interview, but as soon as he said "Hey Yo", Jeff Jarrett appeared on the stage. Jarrett ripped into Hall, but Hall said he was all talk, and told him to bring it. Jarrett started to head down the aisle, but NWA President Jim Miller stopped him, saying Jarrett would not be allowed to run roughshod over the company and do what he wanted. He told him he would have to wait for the main event. Jarrett agreed and left, but K Krush came in from the crowd and attacked Hall. Hall fought back, and while Krush avoided a Razor's Edge, Hall did hit a fallaway slam and clotheslined Krush from the ring.

More upcoming NWA events were plugged as the TNA Girls danced.

They went backstage, where something had happened to Chris Harris & James Storm, as they were both laid out and bleeding.

Anthony Ingram vs. Monty Brown was the next match of the show. Monty did some mic work, saying he was the "Alpha Male" and that he was there for one reason, and that was Ken Shamrock who was "wearing what he wants".

Brown hit the ring and attacked Ingram with forearms and punches, then hit a suplex. Ingram reversed a whip and tried a splash in the corner, but Brown caught it and deposited him with a powerslam. Brown lifted Ingram into a bodyslam position, then switched to a powerbomb (called the Alpha Bomb) and got the pin.

Former Buffalo Bill and New England Patriot Monty Brown defeats Anthony Ingram easily with the Alpha Bomb.

More upcoming NWA events were plugged as the TNA Girls danced.

Backstage Goldylocks was looking for NWA President Jim Miller, saying she couldn't find him anywhere. He was at the ring five minutes ago, but yet she said she has been all over the whole building tonight twice looking for him. Puppet the Psycho Dwarf showed up, demanding that NWA:TNA get him some competition.

Joel Gertner led out the Rainbow Express for the next NWA World Tag Team Tournament match. Goldy interviewed Buff Bagwell and Apolo, with Buff saying Apolo was the number two man in the business, after him. Buff hogged all the mic time, annoying Apolo. Buff & Apolo then headed to the ring for the match.

Bruce started the match with Bagwell. Bruce paused for a pre-match hug with Lenny Lane. Buff grabbed a headlock and hit a shoulderblock and a hiptoss, but when he posed, Bruce hit him from behind. Bagwell hit a back elbow and a V-Bomb from the second rope. Alicia came down to ringside. Lenny tagged in, but Buff poked him in the eyes. Alicia approached Ed Ferrara, who handed her some cash, and she made a note in a little book. In the ring, Apolo was cleaning house on the Express, hitting a sitdown powerbomb on Lenny. Apolo hit a series of chops and a slam, and Gertner tried to trip Apolo. This allowed Bruce to yank him throat first on the top rope and Lenny hit a neckbreaker for a two count. Bruce worked over Apolo in the corner, and Lenny came in and they hit the sawhorse straddle as they took terms holding Apolo across the ropes. Lenny crawled onto Apolo for a two count, then hit a legdrop for another two. Apolo came back with a full nelson bomb, and both men tagged. Bagwell cleaned house on both opponents, then hit a poor cross bodyblock on Lenny and the two fell to the floor. Apolo hit a superkick on Bruce, then the TKO/Hawaiian Crush (fireman's carry into a stunner). Lenny broke up the pin and sent Apolo over the top rope to the floor. Buff came in and hit the Blockbuster on Bruce, but stopped and posed after the move. Lenny hit Buff with a superkick and got the pin.

Lenny pins Buff with the superkick, and the Rainbow Express defeat Buff Bagwell & Apolo to advance in the NWA World Tag Team Title tournament.

Apolo patted Buff on the back and left. Bagwell looked distraught. Ed Ferrara went to talk to him on the mic. He said he didn't want to be called Buff now. He talked about his career (he cursed too) then said he doesn't want to be Buff anymore, he wants to be Marcus, and he was done, and is going home. He walked off as fans chanted "Hey Hey Goodbye". Don West remarked that he "sucked" tonight.

NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ken Shamrock came out. He said he was confused on what was going on. He said Monty Brown had one match and he wants a title show, while he went through 19 men to get the title. He said Brown may have a short career in the NWA. The fans did the "what" chant as Shamrock talked about defending against Malice tonight, and Omori next week. Shamrock said when that was done, he would take care of Monty.

The lights went out, and Minister Jim Mitchell appeared at the top of the building with a spotlight. He told Shamrock he only needs to fear Malice, not Brown or Omori. The lights came back on, and we saw that Shamrock was laid out, with Malice standing over him.

Backstage, Bill Behrens was on the phone with someone, while Jerry Lynn was telling him that he could find a partner and replace Storm & Harris in the tournament. Behrens brushed both Lynn and Goldy off, complaining about Shamrock and Storm & Harris being laid out, and the fact that no one can find Jim Miller.

Puppet came to the ring with his plunder. He complained about the midget match two weeks ago, and said he wanted to see some midget blood tonight. Todd Stone came to the ring (yes, he is a midget too), and we've got a match. Puppet hit him with a kendo stick as he came in, then blasted him with a trashcan. Backstage, Goldy tried to get an update on Ken Shamrock, but the EMT's were not sure if he could wrestle tonight. He kept trying to get up while they examined him.

Clips from last week's lingerie battle royal were shown, which led to tonight's match between Miss TNA Taylor Vaughn and Francine.

Francine pulled a leather strap out of her boot as Taylor got in the ring, and started whipping and choking Taylor with it. Referee Scott Armstrong took it away, then Taylor grabbed it from the ref and whipped and choked Francine with it. The referee tried to stop her, and Taylor hit him with it. Armstrong then disqualified her.

Francine defeats Taylor Vaughn by DQ because Taylor hit the referee with the leather strap that Francine brought into the ring.

After the match, Ed Ferrara got in the ring and helped Francine up, saying she is the winner. Francine put Ed's hand on her breast, then slapped him for touching it, then whipped him with the strap. Ed couldn't figure it out.

Jeremy Borash interviewed Hermie Sadler, who had his pit crew with him. Sadler talked about how happy he was to be part of NWA:TNA's launch, and talked about the NASCAR fans in Nashville. Krush said he had a main event tonight, but he would take him on next week. Sadler agreed, so we have K Krush vs. Hermie Sadler next week.

Hour Two began with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match.

Malice came to the ring with Minister Jim Mitchell, and Ken Shamrock came out, seemingly okay from the earlier attack, while the announcers said he could not be a hundred percent.

Malice attacked the neck right away, yanking it across the top rope, and stepping on him on the floor. Malice pulled the back of Shamrock's neck across the ring apron, yanking down on it, then choked him with his boot. Malice continued to work on the neck, dropping him on the turnbuckles, then straddling him against the second rope. Malice stood on the second rope and lifted Shamrock off the mat with a chinlock. Malice hit a snapmare and a legdrop for a two count. Shamrock grabbed a jujigatame armbar out of nowhere, but Malice got out of it. Malice tossed Shamrock to the floor, and Mitchell handed him a chain, then went to distract the referee. Malice used it, then applied a Dragon Sleeper briefly on the floor. Mitchell told him to roll in and break the count, which he did, then went back and tossed Shamrock into the ring. Malice stomped him, and Shamrock grabbed an ankle lock from nowhere, but Malice made the ropes. Malice hit Shamrock in the back of the neck, then dropped Shamrock from a back suplex. Malice hit a second one, then pulled Shamrock throat first across the top rope. Shamrock reversed a vertical suplex, hitting a snap suplex, but Malice got right back up and hit some kicks, but Shamrock ducked him, and hit a belly to belly suplex for the pin.

Ken Shamrock defeats Malice with the belly to belly suplex to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Title. He faces Takao Omori next week.

Styles flipped over a backdrop early and hit a dropkick. Young went for a full nelson slam, but Styles turned it into an armdrag. He hit a second, but Young hit a shoulderblock, however, Styles hit a rana off the mat, then missed a somersault plancha, but landed on his feet and clothesline Young. Styles rolled him back in the ring for a two count. Young hit an Asai moonsault on the floor, then put Styles back in the ring. Bobcat was talking on her cellphone. Young went for a German suplex, but Styles landed on his feet. They traded waistlocks, then Young hit a released Northern Lights throw that sent Styles into the turnbuckles and got a two count. They went into a series of reversals, but Young hit a spinebuster for a two count. Bobcat was still on the phone, not paying attention to the match. Young went for a top rope rana, but Styles held him and hit the Styles Clash from the second rope to get the pin.

AJ Styles, with a second rope Styles Clash, defeats David Young to retain the X Division Title. Bobcat was happy to be on TV, and Styles shoved her out of the way. Styles left, and Bobcat was still thrilled to be on TV.

Elix Skipper, Kid Romeo, Low Ki, Jerry Lynn, Tony Mamaluke, Chris Daniels will be involved in a six man elimination match next week to select a number one contender for the X Division title.

Goldy interviewed Joel Gertner and the Rainbow Express. Joel, in true Studmuffin rhyming fashion, flirted with Goldy and said that the Rainbow Express would have to be declared champions, since Harris & Storm could not wrestle. He kissed Goldy as he left, and Bruce & Lenny said it was "gross".

The Rainbow Express came out, and ring announcer Jeremy Borash said that the NWA decided that there had to be opponents for the title, and introduced AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn.

Lynn dropkicked Lenny at the start, while Bruce worked over Styles. Lynn backdropped Bruce to the floor and hit a pescado on both men. Lynn held the Express on the floor, and Styles hit a twisting pescado on them. Styles was rammed into the rails by Bruce, while Lynn slugged it out with Lane in the ring. Lane enjoyed Lynn's waistlock, but was given a headscissors and a drop toe hold in the corner. Lynn teased a bronco buster, stomped Lane instead, then drop toe holded Bruce into Lane's crotch and repeatedly rammed him headfirst into his nether regions. Gertner grabbed Lynn's leg as he went to the ropes, allowing Lane to get the advantage. Bruce rammed Lynn facefirst to the mat, backdropped Lynn to the apron, but Lynn caught him with a guillotine legdrop between the ropes for a two count. Lynn tagged in Styles, who hit a spinkick, but was favoring his back from the previous match. Lynn tagged in, and stomped Bruce in the corner. Lynn booted Bruce in the face and hit a second rope bulldog for a two count. Bruce hit Lynn with a lowkick and tagged Lane, but Lynn gave him a jawbreaker and rolled him up for a two count. Lynn missed a dropkick when Lane put on the breaks, then Lane applied the Tigertamer (Boston Crab). Styles came in and broke it up with a clothesline. Bruce came in and hit Lynn with a slam for a two count. Bruce stomped Lynn, then Lane gave him a delayed vertical suplex for a two count. Lynn battled back, and Bruce hit a sunset flip from the second rope for a two count, then Lynn reversed for another two count. Bruce hit a facefirst powerbomb out of an attempted headscissors by Lynn, then applied a headscissors. Lynn got out, missed an elbowdrop, and Bruce went for a powerbomb, but couldn't get Lynn up. Bruce pounded him and went for it again, but Lynn flipped through and went for the cradle piledriver. Bruce countered, but Lynn rolled him into a pin, only Gertner was distracting the referee. Lynn hit a reverse DDT, and both men tagged out. Styles hit a rana on Lane for a two count, then a superkick and clothesline for another two, which Bruce broke up. It broke into a brawl, and Lane hit a face first legweep on Styles, but Lynn broke it up.

Lynn hit the cradle piledriver on Lane, then a rana on Bruce, which sent both of them to the floor. In the ring, Styles hit the Spiral Tap from the top rope on Lane to get the win. A.J. Styles & Jerry Lynn are the NWA World Tag Team Champions. The two celebrated as fireworks went off.

Backstage, we saw that NWA President Jim Miller was tied, gagged, and had "F U" written across his belly.

Footage of last week's show was recapped to set up tonight's main event, Scott Hall & Brian Christopher vs. Jeff Jarrett & K Krush. Each participant in the main event made their own entrance.

Hall & Christopher attacked at the start, and all four men ended up brawling on the floor. Hall and Jarrett brawled into one part of the crowd, while Christopher and Krush brawled into the stands. Hall and Jarrett brawled in one of the dance cages. Krush and Christopher made it into the ring, where Christopher hit a back drop and a superkick. Hall beat Jarrett on the announcers table. Christopher missed the top rope legdrop, and Krush tossed him to the floor. Hall got in and Krush tried to avoid a hiptoss, but was given a chokeslam. Krush rolled out, as Jarrett and Hall went at it. Jarrett leapfrogged Hall and hit some punches, and we settled into a tag match. Hall hit a clothesline in the corner, and tagged Christopher. He pounded Jarrett in the corner, then danced, and missed a charge in the corner. Hall tagged in, slugged Krush on the apron, but Jarrett reversed a whip and Hall collided with Christopher, then collided with Jarrett. Jarrett tagged K Krush, who hit Hall with a top rope dropkick. Krush hit a flying forearm for a two count. Jarrett tagged in and hit a neckbreaker for a two count on Hall. Krush tagged in and hit a leg lariat on Hall for a two count. Jarrett tagged in and hit a top rope bodypress, but Hall rolled through it for a two count. Jarrett then hit a clothesline on Hall for a two count. Hall hit some rights, but Jarrett grabbed him in a sleeper. Hall reversed into his own sleeper, but Jarrett hit a jawbreaker and a back suplex. K Krush tagged in and hit an ax kick. Krush applied a rear chinlock. Hall stood up, with Krush on his shoulder, and dropped backwards, sending Krush to the mat. Jarrett came in, but Hall clotheslined both men. Hall went to tag Christopher, but Christopher pulled back and slugged Hall instead. Jarrett went after Hall, but Hall gave Jarrett an atomic drop, and Jarrett crashed into the referee. Hall cleaned house on Jarrett, Krush and Christopher. Hall hit the Razor's Edge on Krush, but Jarrett clipped him from behind. Hall tried for the Edge on Jarrett, but Christopher kicked him in the gut, and Jarrett hit the Stoke on Hall. Christopher then hit the top rope legdrop on Hall. Jarrett covered, and the referee woke up and counted the pin.

Jeff Jarrett & K Krush, thanks to Brian Christopher's legdrop, gets the win over Scott Hall & Christopher in the main event. Jarrett, Krush and Christopher celebrated in the ring together. Jeff Jarrett grabbed the mic and said Hall wasn't "worth a s***". Jarrett said he beat him in 1995 and 1997, and that he ran him out of WCW. He said the "boys up north" ran him out of the WWF. Jarrett said he would run him out of the NWA. Jarrett said Hall was like all the other legends, not worth a thing. Jarrett then took the NWA trophy that was still at ringside and blasted Hall repeatedly with it. Jarrett said Hall was run out of the NWO, now he would be run out of the NWA. He attacked Hall twice as they tried to stretcher him from the ring.

The announcers closed the show, as Jarrett attacked Hall again on the rampway. Jarrett dumped the stretcher on Hall as the show ended.

The story also stated that Sabu, real name Terry Brunk, "was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and also had nine pills that were not immediately identifiable, but were known to be controlled substances, according to the OSHP." They were cited and posted bond at the scene. WWE immediately suspended Van Dam, booking him to lose both the WWE and ECW titles within 48 hours of the incident. Some point to the incident as a strong factor in Vince McMahon forcing changes onto the ECW brand as opposed to letting it be closer to the original vision for the relaunch of the ECW letters.

2009 - WWE SmackDown! & ECW ran San Diego, CA at the San Diego Sports Arena. During the event, Edge suffered an Achilles Heel injury that sidelined him for many months. Mark Carpowich filed the following live report:

On Friday night, the ECW and Smackdown rosters paid a visit to the San Diego Sports Arena for the first time since October. Aside from a serious-looking injury suffered by Edge (more on that shortly), the show was enjoyable, yet a little on the slow side. As usual, the WWE's no-cell-phone policy was in effect, with ring announcer Justin Roberts letting us know that anyone using their phone inside the venue would have it confiscated, and even face "possible prosecution." I'd really like to think our courts have better things to do.

What better way to start off an ECW/Smackdown show than with a Raw wrestler? That's right, Evan Borne - last seen in this building nine months ago, suffering a severe ankle injury during a six-man tag match - took on Shelton Benjamin in the night's first bout. Benjamin was on offense for most of the match, working at a slow and plodding pace, though things picked up nicely whenever Bourne went on the offensive. After Benjamin missed a Stinger Splash, Bourne picked up the win with a shooting star press. Decent opener.

Prior to introducing the next match, Justin Roberts tossed to ECW GM Tiffany, who was in the cheap seats with a family. Tiffany asked one of the family's kids a trivia question - who won the IC strap at The Bash - and upon getting it right, Tiffany let them know they were being upgraded to the front row.

Next out was FCW's Drew McIntyre, who cut an anti-American promo (yet didn't bother working in anything about the 4th of July). He said he would become the youngest-ever WWE Hall of Famer, then said he would destroy tonight's opponent, also a Hall of Famer. Out came Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, who took in every bit of adulation poured upon him, right down to the "I Paid to See Steamboat" sign he pointed to in the crowd. The two worked a pretty uneventful match, with McIntyre spending most of it working on Steamboat's left leg, injured during the bout. The match ended when McIntyre went for a figure-four leg lock, but was cradled by Steamboat for the win.

The evening's third match featured Dolph Ziggler taking on The Great Khali (and his purple pants). Ziggler played the cowardly heel, but Khali finally caught up to him and made pretty quick work of him. Khali with the pin - so far tonight, the faces are up 3-0 on the heels.

Our next match was a fatal four way for the ECW belt, as Tommy Dreamer defended against Christian, Jack Swagger and Mark Henry. Guess we aren't supposed to question why two Raw guys are challenging for the ECW title. The match was pretty good, and featured a cool spot in the corner that had Henry taking out all three guys at once. Dreamer picked up the win with a pretty weak-looking DDT on Swagger. Afterward, Dreamer pointed to a fan and had him come to the barricade, then pulled a Mean Joe Greene and gave the fan the shirt he wore during the match. Um, thanks?

The final match before intermission was Edge versus Jeff Hardy. Edge jawjacked with fans along the aisle as he approached the ring, even tearing up a sign along the way. He also repeated the same spot three times before the match got started - standing on the ropes, then pretending to slip off - with decreasing humor every time. Almost immediately after the bout started, however, Edge went down with what appeared to be an injury to his left ankle. Edge was standing in the corner, and when Hardy charged at him, Edge tried to leapfrog him and came down wrong on his leg. Interestingly, Steamboat's injury earlier in the evening (which at first appeared legit, until McIntyre started working on it) happened the exact same way. As Hardy backed off, the ref gave the "X" signal, and Justin Roberts announced that because Edge could not continue, Hardy was the winner. As two referees helped him to the back, Edge grabbed the house mic and simply said "sorry" to the fans.

After a 10-minute break, Maria was the guest referee for a diva tag match featuring Alicia Fox and Michelle McCool against Raw's Gail Kim and Melina. The story of the match was that Melina wanted Michelle, who stayed as far from Melina as possible. The action in this bout was fast and furious, with lots of good, solid spots all around. The faces went up 6-0 on the heels for the evening when Melina got the pin on Michelle.

Unlike Edge, Chris Jericho was introduced as one half of the tag-team champions when he came out for the next match. Wearing both tag title belts, Jericho heeled the fans, for some reason calling them "manatees," before John Morrison came out to face him. The two had a nice match, which included a neat spot where Morrison went for a springboard off the second rope, but Jericho shoved him over the top to the outside. The crowd was live and bit on several false finishes for Morrison, before Jericho picked up the win by holding the ropes.

After encouraging fans to pick up "12 Rounds" on DVD, Justin Roberts introduced the main event, featuring CM Punk defending the World Heavyweight title against hometown hero Rey Mysterio. Punk came out as a babyface, slapping fans' hands at ringside; Rey, meanwhile, was of course incredibly over as well. After the "big-match" introductions, the action got started, with Punk looking increasingly heelish as the match progressed. Once, when Punk had been knocked to the outside, Rey held the ropes open for him, and after climbing through, Punk shook his hand. However, when Punk offered to return the favor moments later, he took a cheap shot as Rey was entering. The end came when Rey slid out of the GTS and set up Punk for the 619, but Jericho ran in and distracted Rey. This allowed Punk to hit the GTS for the win. Afterward, Jericho came in and started putting the boots to Rey. Punk stopped him, then started kicking Rey as well. The double-team lasted until Jeff Hardy ran into the ring and cleaned house. Rey hit a double 619, then Hardy hit a double swanton.

Afterward, Rey thanked the crowd for its support, and said how he loves to represent San Diego. He says that wherever the WWE goes - Japan, Australia, Europe - there are always "619" signs in the crowd. Rey signed off with a message in Spanish, then greeted fans at ringside.

The fans were much hotter than the typical San Diego crowd, which made for an exciting show. No actual date was announced for a return to San Diego.

2009 - Entertainment trade publication Variety reported that with no other buyers on the horizon, Warner Bros. officially acquired Midway Games for $33 million. The TNA videogame license was not part of the assets sold to the company, so the future of that game series (a second game has been in development) stalled. To date, a new videogame has not been released for major gaming consoles.

2009 - WWE Broadcast Smackdown on MyNetworkTV. Richard Trionfo filed the following TV Report:

We are live on tape from Fresno, California and your announcers are Jim ‘Jerry Tarkanian’ Ross and Todd ‘It looked like Bakersfield’ Grisham.

We begin with the World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk coming to the ring. The fans are not too happy with Punk being the champion. Punk says that everyone is talking about the big controversy coming out of The Bash and he says that he is sick and tired of it. Punk says that people are saying that he intentionally struck an official to retain his title. Punk says that he wants to show everyone what happened, step by step.

We go to highlights from Sunday. We see Punk falling victim to the Swanton but Punk had his leg under the rope. Punk says that the referee is human and he saw his mistake. Punk says the rules still mean something to him. Punk says that he was the one who was almost robbed because if the referee did not see it, he would have lost his title. Punk then shows us the eye injury that Punk suffered during the match. Punk says that it was as clear as day that he could not see and his vision was obstructed. He thought he was swinging at the referee and he accidentally hit the referee. Punk says that he is a man of honor and he does not take shortcuts in or out of the ring. Punk says that Hardy thought he was going to become the new champion, but nothing excuses Hardy’s behavior after the match. We see footage of Hardy attacking Punk.

Punk tells Hardy that he has no idea what type of person Punk is. He says that he has integrity and he will never take a short cut. What Punk did was an accident while what Hardy did was deliberate. Now Jeff is trying to get a rematch. Punk says that he wants an apology from Hardy.

Instead of an apology, Punk gets the fifty-third next best thing as Teddy Long comes to the ring. Teddy tells Punk that he wants to get to the point and he does not know if Punk took the cheap way out. Long says that it was a classic match so he is not going to let it end that way. Punk will face Hardy at Night of Champions in a rematch. Punk likes that, but he wants Hardy to apologize to him. Teddy says that Vince McMahon liked the way he shook things up. Long says that Vince wants controversy so the Unified Tag Champions will face Jeff Hardy and CM Punk.

Jeff Hardy finally decides to come out and the face paint is back on. Hardy gets in Punk’s face and he tells Punk that he does not want to hear his excuses any more. He says that Punk knew what he was doing when he kicked the referee. Hardy tells Punk that he can see right through him. Punk tells Hardy that he can shut up unless he is going to apologize. Hardy says that he will apologize for beating the holy hell out of him at Night of Champions. Hardy pushes Punk and Punk pushes back until Long separates them. Punk tells Hardy that they better be on the same page during their tag match tonight. Punk says that they are already at a disadvantage because of his eye. Punk reminds Hardy that he had to forfeit his match on Superstars, but he will not forfeit tonight. Punk tells Hardy that he knows that Jeff wants to punch him, but he tells Jeff to ‘just say no’.

Punk leaves the ring and we go to commercial.

We are back and Ricky Ortiz is in the ring and he has his towel with him.

Match Number One: Ricky Ortiz versus Finlay

Before the match starts Ortiz asks Finlay if he is upset that he lost his little buddy. He tells Finlay to let go of the negative energy since he is on Smackdown. Ortiz with a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. Ortiz tries for the big splash but Finlay gets his knees up. Ortiz misses a charge into the corner and then Finlay with a rollup for a near fall. Finlay with a clothesline or three for Ortiz and then he gets Ortiz up for a fireman’s carry slam and then he hits a seated splash for a near fall. Finlay with a running shoulder into the corner. Ortiz with a forearm to the back and Ortiz tries for a gutwrench but Finlay stops him and Finlay hits the Celtic Cross for the three count.
Winner: Finlay

Dolph Ziggler is stretching in the back and he sees Maria walk by and she introduces herself to Dolph. She asks if he is getting ready for his match. Maria says that she has a match tonight and then she tells Dolph that she had fun last night. Dolph says that he had fun too and asks Maria to go out again. Maria wishes Dolph luck tonight and Dolph says that he might get lucky tonight.

We go to commercial.

Did you know that adults 18-34 love Smackdown.

We see footage from the Ziggler/Khali match from The Bash when Kane helped Ziggler get the win.
